I totally understand!! There is a Timneh on CL here right now for $900....picture in ad has small ROUND cage, one itty bitty toy and the quote "You can pet him on his head and teach him to talk if you want he is about 2 years old" UGH! I bet the poor thing has hardly been out of the cage.

Awwww, soooo adorable! Now that's a deal! $100 for a CAG?!?! =)

I had Lollie on her playstand which is next to my bed(too high for kitten and too far from the bed) but she kept staring and seeming a little too interested in Lollie. Whenever I saw her do this I would hiss and gently bat her away. She seemed to get the message, I hope! I need to get a squirt bottle! Kinda worried, I was hoping she would not have a reaction!

I too have been reading this thread daily hoping to see some good news. I am praying for you both. Come on Murphy, come home little fella, you mum misses you!

I guess my substitution for MBS (because my house is too small for another cage) was to get a kitten. We got a sweet little med/long haired Tortie who is 7 weeks old. I know cats saliva can kill birds and I am not planning on letting them mingle but I am curious if the kitten grows up with Lollie will she think Lollie is part of the family? Is there a way to curb bad behavior from the get go? Anyone else have cats that co-exist just fine? Is your cat declawed? Did you have the bird or the cat first? Did your grow up as a kitten with birds or came in as an adult? Any advice would be appreciated.

Cute pic! i wish Lollie liked to shower!

Make a feather bow!

Hehehe sorry! You know he is still gorgeous with tattered tail feathers. Lollie came with tattered wing feathers that are looking better every day. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! That is an awesome present!

He is beautiful! Do you have MBS? Wonder what Miss Ana Grey will think?

Lollie's cage is on pergo wood type flooring. She likes to play on her seed guards (favorite part is throwing the corner pieces on the floor ) so she poops on the floor...not to mention all the food that gets thrown about. It's not a big deal but it sticks on the floor and I am not sure scrubbing them is a great idea. Her playstand is on my room which is on carpet. Most of the stuff I can vacuum up but she just learned she can climb down and play on the floor of the playstand and she occasionally poops over the side. Do you have a routine for cleaning your cages? (I can't even imagine some of you guys that have MBS!) I try to put fresh paper and spot clean daily after she goes to her sleepy cage for the night. I wash her bowls every night. However, some nights I am just too pooped! I have not taken it outside for a spray down yet.

The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill is a great movie....its more of a documentary but still an awesome watch!

Thanks! Are you talking about roasted in shell or out of shell? I think have the fun for them is ripping it open!

I bought a bad of Deluxe Seed mix that is for Large birds like Eclectus/AG etc. It has seeds and nuts in it. When I opened it I noticed it had peanuts in the shell in it. I thought I would just pitch the peanuts but then got to thinking what it the peanut shells have tainted the other seeds in the bag? Any advice here? I have no qualms just throwing everything out if I need to.

I was wondering what Lollie thinks about me, thanks for clearing it up!:D:D I actually think Lollie would be mad if I got another bird. She doesn't like it when the dog/kids or husband vie for my attention, I am sure she would not like another bird doing the same! Maybe that will keep MBS out of my house, who knows!

That's my kind of camping! =) Have you tried ebay?

I love his voice! So animated and clear. Love it!

I guess the way they describe Timneh's tail feathers is deceiving, makes it sound like the whole tail is maroon like Congo's are red. It doesn't matter to me...I just was wondering where the maroon was!! Thanks Dave!
-
I am just curious. I have read of course that Timneh's have darker maroon tails compared to the red CAG tail. However, Lollie's is mostly grey with a hint of maroon/red. Will this change or will she always have a grey tail? I've tried to google it but cannot find any information. She is 7 months old, when would I expect her to go through her first molt? As always, Thanks!!

I worried about this same thing when I got Lollie. There are some days I am gone from 7am-7pm. Right now, the kids are out of school so she gets plenty of out of cage time but after the summer is over she will be caged from 8am-4pm(which she was when I first got her because the kids were in school) So far, she has adjusted just fine. I make sure on the days she is in the cage she has plenty of things to do. I make foraging stuff and I am always looking for new toys either bought or made. That was a great video. I intend on keeping Lollie for a long time but when I actually sit and think I am 40 years old and she could live to 80 I know realistically she will need to be in another home. The best I can hope for is that she will be well rounded and adjusted and take a new situation with ease.

I'm going to chime in on this one as a new TAG owner. I had always wanted an AG and sure, talking was something that was appealing but there are so many other endearing qualities of AG's that talking was not even top of the list. Everyone of course probably hopes that their AG will talk but from the moment I decided on a AG, I told myself I would love him/her no matter if they talked or not. Forget for a minute how you would feel if your bird did not talk and think about how the bird would feel if they knew you did not love them because they don't talk. Geez, if my husband loved me for only the things he wanted me to do, I'd probably be divorced by now!! I would suggest if talking is the most important thing to you about owning a AG....then find a talking Grey that needs to be rehomed. There are so many birds that need homes so please don't add to the statistic by getting a baby that may or may not talk. For the baby's sake please don't take the risk.

Lollie 7 month old TAG 1. Does he/she get on well with more than one member in the family? Mainly only likes me, will sometimes tolerate my daughter if I am not around. Prefers to have nothing to do with the men in the household....unless they have food 2. Is he/she receptive to strangers? Interested in them at a distance, tolerates them close to cage but will not step-up for them. 3. Is he/she receptive to change / new things? She is actually very receptive to change and accepts new toys with gusto. 4. Is he/she cuddly? Likes to snuggle in to my neck for scritches in the evening and any other time she can get scritches. Will also snuggle in to my chest. Of course, this is only on her time 5. Is he/she aggressive? Never been aggressive to me. Can appear aggressive to other family members but will step up if they are sure handed and don't pull away when she lunges. 6. Is he/she playful / energetic? Very, loves to explore and play but also will chill and relax. 7. Is he/she moody / grumpy? Only when tired and wants to go to bed and I've ignored her cues. 8. Does he/she speak? Yes, she has begun speaking and we have recognized several things. Makes lots of interesting sounds too. 9. Is he/she loud, noisy? Only when I am making breakfast in the morning, she tries to talk over the microwave, facet etc. I wouldn't really call it noisy though, does not compare to my friends cockatoo! 10. Does he/she damage household objects they shouldn't? Not yet, but I am sure at some point she will.....she sure can make toothpicks out of her toys!

I am looking to get a harness for Lollie. Need to get her used to it while she is young. I have seen a few on the market and even how to make your own(not that I would do it) Just wondering who has what and how easy/hard they are to get on. Thanks!!
