Wow! That would be a huge help! :-D Anything you can dig up would be really helpful because it seems that I can't get any useful information from my country. Whom ever I ask here (officials) they are saying different from "you don't need anything to move your bird there" to basically "you can't get your bird to Sweden" .. :-S

Thank you so much birdhouse!! :-**** I'll try investigating such agencies and the rest of the info you gave:-) I know it would cost me time and money but it is worth it:-) I was so down all day for what that woman said. I dread of leaving my bird behind. I think I have a very good potential home for him (if I had to leave him behind) but it would be my last resort. It is not like I'm in the hurry. We are getting into EU at the first of July 2013. and I'm just starting to learn Swedish (in about 20 days) so I have a LOT of preparations to make if I am to move to Sweden.

So, I was in Swedish embassy today and they told me that since we are not in EU Zak would be in quarantine for 36 freakin months!!!!! Even if we were in EU he would still be there for 12 months!!!! :-(((((((((((((((((( The woman there literally told me "you can buy a parrot there". I didn't deign to answer.

Well, I'll check it all and if it is no other way for Zak I will think very long and hard. I'll let you guys know what I discovered about regulations.

Oh man! I don't think I want Zak to go through all that! :-( I think he would be distraught after a torture like that:-(((((

First of all, congratulation on a new friend! :-) Second..To me, it sounds like he has already begun training you. You say he bits you and then you walk away. It seems like he bites you because he doesn't want to step up. Differently put, he wants you to leave him alone at that particular moment, which you obviously do. So, I think he just trained (is training you) you not to pick him up;-) He'll get around but be patient and respect his comfort zone. When he bites you you are way out of it IMHO. Good luck! :-)

...so the first thing I did was to email my vet. Unfortunately she is still on vacation so she told to check how to get documents about CITES, find a list which diseases Zak must be checked for (for a particular country), and some other things that I do not know how to translate. She also told me where to start searching theese kind of information. Unfortunately I must have had a bad luck because the information I got is totally contrary to what my vet told me. Actually, response from one woman I talked to was: "he doesn't need anything. The people at the airport will know when you come there" And I was like !?!!! So I called someone else.. In short, I visited a lot of web sites, seen a lot of things I won't pretend I understand because I'm not really sure what exactly am I supposed to be looking for in the first place and where to get the info from. Simply put, I got a headache so I'm asking you, with actual experience, what do I need to get so I could transport Zakica to Sweden? I am going to Swedish embassy on Wednesday but I'm not sure how helpful they will be.. So any info guys?

Well, the bitch is chezron that I always feel better until I don't! Lol The good thing is that Zak is OK. He had a bit of a problem with bacteria which we (vet and I) think he got because of stress but we fixed it right away when it started (it started a bit before I got sick) and since then he is fine. A bit nervous at times but OK. He'll settle down when he sees that me being home is a new trend;-) And I have a few of new games that we will try-together;-) I'll know my new schedule in a week, maybe sooner.

So, my Mr. Parrot has a special thing going on since we installed the Lixit water battle. - He doesn't go to his cage by himself any more. He decided that the bottle is probably too scary to come through the door next to it. Drinking water is OK tho,as knocking on it several times a day, but going into the cage while it stands there NO. So my brilliant Mr.Parrot calls me every time he wants to go in and drink/eat. I had a moment like that just a couple minutes ago. He went to the living room and landed on his boing which is close o the cage and started calling: come here, come here. So when I came he wanted to play a bit first. I, on the other hand, decided that while he is playing I could wash just a few dishes that I have and we can go to bed at the same time. But No. It was his dinner/drinking time so he started calling me again and since I didn't want to leave everything and come right that instant he actually started screaming! I ignored him till he settled down and then came into bedroom (because he flew from the boing in the meanwhile) and he was looking at me , with his leg stretched out ready to pick him up, like, where the hell were you!?! Lol Now, I was allowed to go and finish business I had to do and there he goes again (but now tucked in his cage) calling me again: Morana, Morana. As I came I saw that he finished his bowl of food and needed a refill. How good of him to call out so I could come and serve him... He really has everything figured out :-P

really? I kinda thought they do that to rest their feet(?) I also thought that for not falling they have a processional muscle (if that is even a good translation). The purpose of that muscle would be to contract involuntary when a bird for example starts falling into sleep and starts to lose balans. Sorry that's the best I can describe what I mean ( although it is far from what I would say in Croatian) :-/

Zak doesn't like to go to his cage when I have to go to work but I resort to putting fruit (in the cage) he likes best so he goes voluntarily. If he still doesn't I do wait a while to put him in. Do somewhat else and then try it again. I don't want to force it and make it a bad experience for him. Sometimes, but rarely, we have disputes about going to bed too. He doesn't want to go so I show him that I respect his will and come back in a few minutes and then he goes nicely because I think he is grateful that I let him decide when is a bed time once in a while;-) As of late, he says to me Good night (it's around 10 PM) and then I know it is time to put him to sleep. Also, I think it is priceless for your bird to have a word/sign that you understand easily. It took me a while before I recognized that Zak say NO by lifting his foot up like a stop sign. Now, when I don't want him to come to me or go somewhere I raise my palm like he lifts his foot and it works. Also I know when something I do is bothering him so I know when to stop. Understanding your grey, IMHO, is a priceless thing ;-)

Well, hello everyone!!!!:-D Finally back after a long time! Missed you guys all very much!:-) So...in short.. I was sick for a long while.. Been in hospital.. Basically my shoulder+arm and knee gave up and wasn't able to do much than to lie down. When not doing that, I was working in three schools so I didn't have time for anything and Zak was also very frustrated because of it. So finally, since 31.this month I'll work just in two schools so Zakica will spend more time with me.. There are some changes in our lives but we'll get to that too, eventually;-) I have a state exam coming up soon so I don't know how much I'll be on the forum but first step has been made:-D For ones who don't know Zak or me,or just don't remember,I'm very proud owner of Zak, 11 year old CAG. He still likes shreddable toys best. We finally switched to lixit water bottle and that was a very proud moment because it took Zak just half a day to get used to the bottle. Another new thing is that I try to expose him daily to new stuff, so now I can change his safety pumice perches without him fussing; we plant flowers together, sunbathe when it is not too hot (currently is 39 degrees Celsius); he miaows most of the time, barks at others. Sometimes even laughs to my students when I tutor.. ;-) Basically we are good now;-) . . . So once again, HELLO EVERYONE!:-)

Just love the story and the pictures! :-D My Zak helps with washing the dishes. Every time I ask "wanna help me wash the dishes" or he hears I started without him he comes "running" to me;-) It makes that job much easier:-)
