Last I heard Murphy was not found, but Paul rehomed another lost bird that found her way into his heart and home.

Merry Early Christmas! Exciting times!!

If your grey is not eating and not active, a vet visit is the first thing I would do.

Congratulations on your little man!

That's a tough one. My gut reaction is to leave him until you return from the vacation. On the other hand, I know how tough that is to leave him when he could be home with you. If you could arrange in home care I would say get him now. If not I would say see if the shop can hold him until you return.

Excellent pictures! And great to meet you!

I want to give a +1 to the Rabbit Air. I got the set of filters for pet allergies because I also have two dogs. The purifier adjusts itself when it detects pet dander including molting down. The light changes color on the indicator light and the fan kicks it up. It does a really good job.

thenabrd has given some great insight. These wonderful birds are often compared to children but they are not. They are unlike any other loved one either. Rather than wanting to please like a dog or be trained like a child, they want to belong to the flock. They need to feel that they are safe and have a place. They will bond but have to do so on their terms! (It's a tough pill to swallow.) You need to learn their cues and react in order to make them feel safe and secure.

I have never heard of clipping only one wing. -
I have a footnote to add to the story of how Egan came to be with me. I told you all about losing Neo, contacting the breeder to get on the list, she hadn't had a TAG for a year and a half and had one egg that hatched, that baby was already promised to a vet, she spoke to the vet and they decided the baby should be with me. Once the dna testing was done, it turned out Egan was indeed an Egan (boy). Anyway, when I was visiting the breeder on Wednesday she had two baby TAGs (from another pair, not Egan's parents). One was a girl and one was a boy. Both are already sold. The girl is going to the guy who is a vet that had originally been promised the baby that I got. It turns out he really wanted a girl anyway. Alls well that ends well.

I appreciate that! And I'm looking forward to your photo journal as well!

That is a great idea! I did the photo journal with Egan. I visited once a week from the time he was pulled from the nest until he came home. I took pictures and posted them. I got comments from people who didn't have the opportunity for weekly visits that it was helpful for them to watch the progress so they could imagine the same for their own babies. And I've never seen anyone on here who asks for LESS pictures! The more, the better!

I bought this playstand about 17 years ago for my Senegal and Mini-Macaw. I tried it out on my Grey and he wasn't very interested. He likes to play with toys overhead. So I modified the original product. I will say that the original could be a DIY with the right parts but I can't take credit for it. The first picture is the original product. The second two are the modifications.

Beautiful pictures! I love it! (Look at the size of those feet!)

Thanks for posting Amber and congratulations! (Unfortunately I am unable to see your pictures. They are just red X's.)

I feel your panic! I'm glad the story ended happily!

Thanks! I was wondering because I've found that Egan only likes to have hanging toys. He is only 5 months old and isn't much into climbing down yet. Actually I haven't gotten him to climb up on the playstand yet either. (He is a small TAG.) I will post pictures soon once I get it completed but I had to modify a playstand that I have had (for my other fids) for 17 or 18 years. I needed a way to hang toys over the top bar that has the food and water bowls on it. Here is the original stand. I'll post "after" pictures when I finish up the modifications on Wednesday.

Do you have a picture of the playstand so we can get an idea of what is there?
-
Thank you everyone. Here is another picture. It's not as nice as some of the window perches but he likes the toy (and the view!)
-
I would also suggest soaking the pellets in juice. I get the Gerber's juice from the baby aisle in the grocery store and use that to cook veggies instead of water. The white grape juice seems to be a favorite with all three fids! The eat the vegetables much better when cooked this way. I use the baby juice because I think it has less sugar than other juices. It might be worth a try.

Egan is now 5 months old and continues to be a joy to have. He is so easy going and playful. He likes new things and is not afraid of new people. And boy is he a talker! He has lots of sounds that he likes to make and I'm now beginning to understand some of his words. (This morning he said, "Hey bird! What-are-ya-doin'?" The second part did come out sounding like one word.) I am so very happy I decided to bring this little boy into my life!

Plus one on Wingy's post. The poop color is the main reason. I'm not that experienced at analyzing poop and prefer the natural pellets.

I felt the same way after Neo died suddenly. He died the middle of June. I called a breeder that I know (not the one I got Neo from) just to get my name on a list. She had one Timneh that had just hatched on June 5th. She said she hadn't had a TAG for a year and a half and after talking for some time, she felt that this baby was meant for me. It isn't like she was just trying to make a sale because she already had someone else interested. Anyway, I made the decision to make this bird part of our family. After dna testing it turns out we had a boy. I actually didn't care one way or the other. I will say that Egan is in no way a replacement for Neo. They are very, very different in size, personality, likes and dislikes. There are a number of things that I still miss about Neo. (He was much more of a cuddler.) There are other things that set Egan apart. (He is not afraid of new things and loves to explore.) I'm glad that things worked out this way for me. I think you will know if it is right for you when it comes to deciding. I can say with 100% certainty that I have no regrets.
