  1. We have something in common. My granddaughter was 12 weeks early and weighed 2 lbs. 7 ozs. She will be 3 on April 3rd. The only problem we have now is that she doesn't want to eat, but we're working on it. God bless the little children. (and the little birds).
  2. Even with my baby (6 months yesterday) I introduce new toys gently. He take about 24 hours so I hang the new toy outside of his cage for a day and then move it inside after I see that he is exploring it through the bars. It might take more than one day for another bird. Patience, patience, patience is the key for anything new including human interaction. Good luck to you!
  3. Watching "Hot Tub Time Machine". What a sick movie! LOL!
  4. I had one great avian vet who moved an hour away. Since then I have tried a few others. I fired two. The one for insisting on sedating the birds and the other for being a total (I AM GOD!) jerk! I am currently deciding on one of two. I need a good avian vet but I also need someone that I can be honest with and they can be honest with me.
  5. I feel your pain. I had a bill like that once and I fired that vet. It wasn't so much the money because I wouldn't care if it was worth it. This particular vet insisted on sedating the birds for a check up (which added to the bill). He insisted that it was less stressful to sedate them. I disagreed and never went back.
  6. If it makes you feel any better, they had a traffic jam that was 13 miles long in New York due to the snow. Just one more reason why I'm glad I don't live in NY!
  7. It was just bad because it was our first visit and she ended up nicking him and need to do a blood stopper. It was probably more traumatic for me than it was for him. To be honest, he didn't seem to notice.
  8. I would be one who would take my bird to someone else. I don't even clip nails. I pay for that. (Although I won't be having that done at the vets again. She uses a dremel and I don't like that too much.)
  9. Neo is cuddly and wants scratches at any time of the day. Sometimes he kind of turns his head away to let me know he would rather go play. Tonight he seemed more nervous than I have seen him since he moved in. We had our first fire of the year in the fireplace and I think it was scaring him. Anyway, he is cuddly but he's just a baby. He will be 6 months old tomorrow.
  10. That's O.K. Thanks for checking the thread! I just threw it out there in case there were any facebook members on here.
  11. My 17 year old nephew is in a band. They really are very talented and not the foul-mouthed stuff you hear from some. Anyway, they are in a battle of the bands and as part of the voting, they need "likes" on facebook. If you are on facebook or know someone who is, just type Aristo into the search bar. Their website should be the first choice. Once on their page just hit the "like" button at the top. This will add to their votes for the battle. Thanks for anyone that can help!
  12. I am there with you in spirit, hoping for the best. I really hope your baby responds to the meds.
  13. Thanks! I got a good laugh from it too!!
  14. I went back and looked at the early posts and figure Happy to be about 5 months old.
  15. The Lilly n Tina thread below this one in this same forum sounds similar to what you are dealing with and I think that their Lilly is close in age to Happy. I also know that a few others have expressed concerns about changes in their birds and thought it might have to do with cyclic changes? shorter days? molting? the holidays? It just seemed odd that everyone, literally all over the world, starting seeing changes at around the same time.
  16. I certainly hope this is just a phase she is going through. I'm looking forward to the recommendations from those more experienced than myself. Please keep us updated on the progress and good luck to you.
  17. Now I see how you get him to bed at night. A little Bud Light, eh?
  18. Yeah. That would be a problem. Remodeling by grey isn't necessarily a good thing. (You have my sympathies.)
  19. BTW...the shirt in my avatar is the favorite shirt with holes in it. (I really LOVE that shirt!)
  20. *Timmy keeps trying to teach the human lessons but the human doesn't listen. Didn't we have another "kissing" accident already???*
  21. So far I have no scars from my grey. I do have a major scar from my Hahn's which was my fault, not his. I had him on my shoulder right after I got him and was in the kitchen making gravy in a frying pan. He flew down and landed right in the middle of the frying pan. He screamed. I screamed. I grabbed him and ran over to the sink, held him upside down and turned on the faucet to pour cold water on his feet. Somewhere in this process he took a chunk out of my forearm. I don't even know when it happened, I was so upset. I didn't notice it until after the scare had subsided. But I still have a white mark on my arm to remind me of my foolishness.
  22. Think of it this way....my husband has to take me back to Disney World to replace my favorite shirt. And that's going to cost a whole lot more than your camera!!!
  23. I shouldn't laugh but.....Waaaaaahahahahaha!
