If you are doing something and his safty is a consern, its not wrong to put him in his cage if he wont go to or play on his stand.
If you are busy and can`t keep an eye on him for his safty than to the cage he gose untill you have the time to work with him.
Have you ever walked down the street in a city and see all the pigeons walking around the sidewalks.
Its funny to watch them peck around for food that poeple toss down for them.
When I see Cricket walk around the house I can see a pigeon walking down the street. The only thing different is when something startled them they will fly away, but not Cricket she will keep walking untill she gets to her location. She will not fly much, BUT once every 2 or 3 months she will take to the air and fly all around the house for an hour or so and than she is done for 2 or 3 months.
I have talked to other amazon owners and some say their amazon is that way and others say their amazons fly all the time.
What is your amazon like when it comes to flying ?
Penny I know how you feel about euthanization.

Hi DanielaWellborn and welcome to the grey forum.
A four year old grey is still a very young grey and it will adjust to your family.
Just give it some time to settle in. Sit by your grey and talk to it , sing or just sit next to it and read and share some quiet time.
Saw your intro post about charlie your grey and Rocky your amazon. Good looking fids.
Looking foward to seeing more of Charley here in the lounge and I hope to see a lot of Rocky in the amazon room.

There are many other foods they can have other than bird seed that we as humans eat every day and seed and pellets are supplemental in them having a choice.
OH Before I forget, Welcome to the grey forum and please understand that the advice we try to give is in the best interest of your new grey for its better health and wellbeing
Hi Aaron and welcome to you and your new friend and companion to the grey forum.
Your grey looks great and you should have many years to share your life with him/her.
Give your new friend a chance to settle in to his new home. You and your home is all new to him/her.
Sit by his cage and talk to him and after a few days you could leave the door to his cage open and let him come out on it`s own.
Do you know if its a boy or girl.
Just give it some time.
I think I am doomed.
