  1. I'm sure your Grandfather has explained "Aspiration, crop impaction, crop burn, and there consequences, I know you know about proper mixing ratio's of formula and how much they should be fed. Please let us know his daily morning weight.....I've had them die in my hand and I have a little more experience then a few young birds. Jayd
  2. What's in a Name? Greetings; Spock here...What is a Congo African Grey Parrot? There are two agreed upon Grey Parrots from Africa. The nominate species is Psittacus erithacus erithacus. The subspecies is Psittacus erithacus timneh. What I can't find is a Congo African Grey Parrot....What I do find is a Psittacus erithacus erithucus which we call a CAG or Congo African Grey Parrot, with his "brother from another mother", a Psittacus erithacus Timneh. So, it looks to me like someone tacked on the moniker of "Congo African". There is no such bird....Hmmmm! There is a few people (not me!) trying to remove the Congo African from our Grey Parrots' name and have us go by Psittacus erithacus erithacus and Psittacus erithacus Timneh. So, Talon better get to work, she will have to rename the Forums Psittacus erithacus erithacus Forums. She will also have a Psittacus erithacus erithacus Lounge. Can you imagine starting a thread, "My baby Psittacus erithacus erithacus turned a year old today..." or Ana Grey, my Psittacus erithacus timneh..... Spock Live Long and Prosper
  3. Spock here, There's nothing you can do, I think, there for I am, can you fly? We know ahead of time what your next move is going to be, we anticipate!!! A quick beak and we're off to our next venture.. Haven't you seen me plan? I sit there rambling while you comment on how cute I am, I'm aiming for that ink pen...[you know they taste different when you remove the ink!] Ha Ha, your the one's who wanted us to think in the first place! The funnest move is "intended poop" When you try to discourage us from our task, we don't give up, we poop on purpose, and laugh when you say "Ohhh, you had a accident" LOL, We learn from watching, and guess who we watch? Spock P.S. Were training you........
  4. "How do I count the ways". Who ever we're holding or interacting with at the time, is the one we love the most, at the time...It's hard to explain, we love them all equal. I guess it's more of directing our love where needed at the time... Maggie and the Flock
  5. I came across some baby photos of Spock...I can't believe where the time has gone! He has grown from a cuddly fur-ball to an arrogant....well, I'll let these speak for themselves... Two things about Spock; he always had BIG wings and BIG Feet...His wings were always dirty because he was always dragging them around... Maggie
  6. Spock here. Logically, Tofu and Poo-Poo are one in the same!!! Live long and prosper [maybe] Spock P.S. Maggie's rolling on the floor ......
  7. Here's one of mine, lets see yours!!! All we have is love, I look ridiculous.....Jayd
  8. Okay, being vain, Little Spock... Forgive the house..... Maggie
  9. It was cage cleaning time last night and I was cleaning Joey's cage. As Dan has mentioned before, we always tell our Fids what we're doing. I was talking to Joey and said to him "I love you" and Joey replied, "I know". Then I said, "Joey, I'm going outside to get newspaper", and Joey responded, "Oh! Ok". I laughed to myself before it dawned on me what he was saying. When I came back with the paper, Joey said, "Paper, ok". He's said this before. Salsa our Amazon was in Joeys cage later on and I told Jay that I would get Salsa out. Joey looked at me and said, "Oh good". All our big birds gather at Joeys cage, he don't mind unless he's in it... I am really amazed at what comes out of their mouths...talk about "Out of the mouth of babes.....";) Maggie
  10. Spock here...Forget hatch-day, where's "Treats and Toy's". Dayo, Dan won't admit it, but you have the makings of the next "Alex"... Live Long and Prosper [sincerely] Spock
  11. It is amazing what professions these Greys will pick up! Spock likes my hairbands too but since mine is attached to my braid halfway down my back, he uses it as a swinging rope as he rappels down and chews it off.... My personal advice....???? Invest in stock in the hairband company. At least, that way, maybe you will get a percentage back on your investment... Maggie
  12. Greetings, Spock here: It's the "Laughlin River Run" time again. I don't remember last year but my "parronts" took Salsa and I for a ride around town. We saw more color and more noise (and less clothes) than we ever could have dreamed of...WOW!!! There was over 40,000 people, all on these fantastic colored noisy machines with the female species with very little clothes on. Were they noisy!!!!! RRRRUUUNNN VRROOOMM...mostly they all had black on... Up and down the road, these noisy creatures went...Jay told Maggie, "that one's a Cadillac" Salsa: "Motorcycle..." Spock: "Poppa says cruiser..." The colors were so bright I thought they were fruit and nut trees...Our "parronts told us last year there were 75,000 and in the past there have been more than 100,000 and they invade town for 4 to 5 days. Poppa said that there are three to four kinds of bikers; biker-bikers (gang types), bikers-clubs (mom and pop clubs), professional bikers (doctors, lawyers, etc) who dress up for the weekend, and regular people bikers who can't afford gas for cars and ride bikes... Salsa: "I want poppa to get a iron horse so I can ride on his shoulder. He has a beard.." Spock: "Not Logical..." Spock Live Long and Prosper
  13. How gorgeous that is...unfortunately here, all we have are cactus blooming and palm trees (LOL). Grey't pictures...thanks for sharing... Maggie and Jay
  14. We have two room of birds, our Conures, 'Tiels and 'Keets in one room and our big Parrots in the other. With our daylight savings time, very similar to your British summer hours, our fids have not only responded to the summer hours but have changed their personal time-clock. Example: if they were eating at 9am, when we changed the clocks to 10am, you would think they would eat at 10am. But no, they still eat at 9am, which is a full hour before DST. So that means, it's sad for me, not them. It messes up my eating and sleeping time Grey't Post Jilly... Maggie
  15. Spock here... Only Logical... Dan, Dayo Live Long and Prosper Spock
  16. Dan, this really needs to be a "Sticky"..... Please make it happen..Spock
  17. Thank you for all your love and prayers...Maggie Spock here, "The Bird who will be King" A humble thank you... May we all, Live Long and Prosper. Spock
  18. We were getting a little worried for a while when it took Spock almost a year before he started talking...now, he carries on conversations by leaps and bounds. Yesterday, Jay was on the computer and he asked Spock to get off the counter because he was playing with items that he wasn't supposed to...he replied "I don't think so!" Later that night, he was waiting for Jay to make his formula. Apparently, Jay wasn't going fast enough and he flew over and told Jay "WANNA EAT!" Jay's getting over a cold and has been sneezing so Joey has been mimicking him with an Aaaccchhoo! I always say "Bless you" to Jay. Joey now says Aacchoo! and Spock says "Bless you!" Maggie
  19. Spock here, Greenie's never mature, all they do is cuddle and play and eat and steal your favorite goody's. If Sunshine was hormonal you'd know it...Klingon's. toh-TOHH ! Spock
  20. All it takes is love, caring, patience, time and hope...When we first brought Joey home, he was 2 year old Grey; a nail-biting, nervous, neurotic bird. We were so afraid that he would always be introverted and alone. Now he plays with Spock (a Grey), Salsa, (a Greenie or Amazon) and is learning to fly, probably for the first time. He has been a strong influence on teaching Spock to talk and is very social to both of us. He may never cuddle but he loves to sit on our arms and survey all around him. He used to be afraid of everything including the camera...now, as Jillie says, he sure knows how to work that camera... Maggie
  21. Coexisting, Spock and Joey on Joey's cage after dinner!!! It makes it all worth while, our baby and our older rescue..... Jay and Maggie
