  1. I will think positive that it may happen more often than we think, one way or another. Let's face it the saddest stories and the most horrifying often get the most attention.
  2. Our entire flock are rescues and adoptions, dogs, cats and the feathered ones. Each bird is a unique being and some are grateful and loving from the beginning, others may take months or even years before their innate personality can shine and trust can grow. I would not change the choice of accepting those who have found their way to us for a newly hand raised baby. Love them an appreciate each very different one.
  3. Comforting to hear, some of my security aps also claim this is a dangerous site.
  4. Pepper you have missed some of the training tips that have been posted on this blog in the past. Do read how some of us have finally gotten these rather slow witted humans responding correctly at least the majority of the time.
  5. We all just suffer from a little dusting of feather brain syndrome.
  6. You are showing how much you care about doing the right things in choosing to live with a feathered companion. There is much information on this site about how to avoid stimulating any sexual behaviors and still have a great interaction with a Grey or other parrots. You might look into volunteering with a Parrot rescue or Sanctuary to get first hand knowledge and experience observing the interactions the different birds have with each other and with their care takers. I think this could be most helpful for you and will influence your decision making. I do volunteer at the local Sanctuary every weekend and find it very therapeutic and often gain more insight into the lives of the feathered. I think you will make a great "Parront."
  7. A big step in the right direction just have to work out the "kinks", maybe a yoga class could help you with the relaxation and the tight muscles.
  8. Oh my the little tyrant (diva?) has been revealed, it will be a bumpy ride while working towards a peaceful resolution.
  9. Perhaps rather than replacing her big cage just keep the travel cage near by so she can utilize it when ever she feels the need.
  10. You may need those hearing protectors they wear when landing aircraft soon.
  11. I use a small battery power dremell that way you take off much less nail at a time so you have more control. It sounds as if he is not holding you responsible now forgive yourself.
  12. Hello right back and welcome to our flock.
  13. I cannot give better advice than Katana and Ranaz, but will be thinking of your struggle and I know you can overcome this obstacle to better health. this struggle will be worth winning the battle to get some healing rest. We each have something that frightens or frustrates us so don't ever feel alone in your struggles and don't give up.
  14. I use spirulina but just a dash.
  15. Have you studied these birds in the field first to compare normal to not normal behavior?
  16. He was warm, well fed & loved what more could anyone want bird or human, good work and you will have some gentle memories when the hurt becomes less raw.
  17. Sweet! poor little guy that had his leg caught in the door hope they did treat him.

    Prayers

Well said tragedy ongoing for them the last several years, prayers will be sent.
  19. Identity crisis averted for now, clever bird Ixta!
  20. Enjoyed the update, she is a discriminating diva who must choose who to socialize with, glad you are allowed to serve. Some good insight there that you surmise she may anticipate a separation so holding herself back form fully accepting your attachment.
  21. Wishing you all a Happy, Healthy & prosperous New Year! Have fun and stay safe tonight, all you birdies too.
  22. Whisper will do that for me and Smartee Pants will do anything for our youngest son who is in his 20's now.
  23. How wonderful to have you on board, nice to know about your food background I think you will really enjoy the Grey life. They can be slow to accept new foods and new toys so get ready to practice patience and we will all enjoy hearing how the transition to your home goes.
