  1. I am afraid he is headed for the political arena.
  2. Thankful for the update not knowing is the hardest thing for me. Wishing I was close enough to help with all the cleaning and the running back and forth. My heart goes out to this woman you can feel her pain through your words. Hugs to all involved from Texas.
  3. Greywings

    Bald Spot

They can reach the top of their heads using their feet to itch or pull feathers. The Aloe should help and it could have been a playing too hard accident that began the process.
  4. It is a natural process they have been laying eggs for thousands of years. As long as their diet is good and the calcium levels are sufficient they should be fine. I would avoid stimulating that behavior day light length, spray misting and food values all have an influence on breeding behavior that triggers the egg laying. Love is a glorious thing.
  5. I think several folks on this board have the very same difficulties, unable to walk away from a bird in dire straights, or a dog, or a cat or a fellow human on occasion. When I had a grooming shop taking my Wolfhounds, cat and kids to work every day hubby called it my grooming shop, adoption center and home for wayward women. (Had a Mealy amazon and a dwarf rabbit that lived there during the week also.)
  6. Great subject and it must be "food" for thought. I hope your healing goes well and the pain subsides soon.
  7. Hope this is helpful https://www.google.com/search?q=parrot+rescue+new+jersey&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 Almost forgot the most important one http://www.sanctuaryfederation.org/gfas/
  8. Nice looking bird you have there, would love some more pictures and look forward to hearing how your relationship goes with your new Grey. Has he a name yet?
  9. Trying out for the position of Easter Bonnet, you will have to model them for us.
  10. Scarlets are very smart and can be challenging, Militaries seem easier going to me. Lots of Macaws like to lick things I don't know if it is a texture thing or a mineral salt interest. Marley has a nicer sound to me too. Good luck with all the new guys and the old ones as well. Are the grey feathers falling again?
  11. Wonderful for these guys that you have found a way to make them some space in your lives but do try to hang on to your sanity. I know how difficult that can be as we have a good sized flock and the occasional guest bird or two. it can be a stretch trying to give everyone the attention and keep them with clean water when as soon as you change it they dunk food in it or take a bath.
  12. I hope they guy is ok, Chacho may have had a little out of Bird experience there. I know that sounds a bit wacky but animals have some pretty keen senses.
  13. How wonderful, nice design and plenty of flight room. Very very NICE!
  14. She is having a very brave day, what a wonderful thing.
  15. Could you take a picture for us of that experimental dish I am having difficulty envisioning it.
  16. True that! Glad it showed it's creative side for you to share.
  17. Many Greys in Zoo's and other refuges may be outdoors 24 x 7 as long as they have some where to shelter from wind and rain. You would know your bird and his preferences.
  18. Did your Vet take a skin swab of the area? It could be just from playing too hard, rubbing her beak as you suggested or eating something causing a little sensitivity reaction or a yeast or bacterial infection in the skin at that site. I know so many choices... If it is not spreading or bothering her then I would not get too concerned.
  19. Always room for another Texan, welcome aboard. Smart to look ahead when considering any kind of Parrot. Murfchuck is near you and may know a bit more about the local bird show folks. Look around and get some great ideas on adapting to life with a Grey.
  20. Agree with the majority here STRESS is the causative here.
  21. He looks great, there is some variation among the different subspecies of Greys that may of developed in different geographic areas. Some are much larger and more silvery colored, some are smaller and darker. Should not be a source of concern.
  22. Nice to meet you and welcome among us. Hoping to hear more about your life with your birds in your country.
  23. I think they just used to call this Winter...
