  1. Very cute but not safe, difficult to be certain she is not ingesting the plastic or if you have to step away remove the bag to avoid suffocation dangers. However she is adorable!
  2. You need an Anatolian Shepard we love ours as the sanctuary watchdog. They protect the birds from predators and influence people with "unwise ideas" to change plans. GG (135#)was a rescue that served as our safety guard for several years, now she has passed (bone cancer) and our new girl is learning the ropes. Anatolian Shepherd Dog Breed Information and Pictures http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/anatolianshepherd.htm All about the Anatolian Shepherd Dog, info, pictures, breeders, rescues, care, temperament, health, puppy pictures and much more.
  3. That works or Bungee for their bouncy activity levels.
  4. Metacam is also an antinflamitory agent not just for pain it will reduce any swelling of bruised tissue.
  5. Running that heater most likely caused his skin to be dry making his molt itchy and uncomfortable. Ted Palm oil and coconut oil along with baths or spray misting should all help him feel good in his feathers. Another Texan here just South of town. Looking good now and he is one fortunate Grey bird!
  6. Congrats on the organizing of personalities! Looking forward to seeing them all in their new digs too and the stories that will develop as they explore. Sorry about your lip, superglue works as well but it stings a bit also.
  7. Marked that area as his I see, good looker.
  8. What a very lucky survival story. You can add lots of misting with either plain water or Aloe Vera juice daily to help him be more comfortable getting his new feathers in.
  9. Lovely bird and daughter and what a greyt name.
  10. A relief he is ok, sometimes I wonder how they survive in the wild.
  11. Would enjoy seeing HRH in action.
  12. As long as his balance is not affected that would indicate a possible inner ear issue.
  13. He could be needing a little more calcium in his system and the shells make that easy for him.
  14. Good news, happy to hear his recovery is great!
  15. Funny how they all find the full house to land in. Hawkheads are beautiful and have unpredictable temperaments they can be a real challenge. I know you are a blessing for your sick friend caring for his flock and him. Sorry to hear his health is failing further.
  16. Interesting thread I can only speak from my experience we have 4 males and 1 is a TAG, 2 talk human well, 1 very well, 1 somewhat and one the TAG mumbles and sounds like an elderly lifetime smoker man. The girls 1 speaks very well and picks up words and phrases amazingly fast, 1 speaks clearly with fewer words and phrases and "sings" one does sounds rather than words poptops, pouring water, sparrows and squeaky doors ect. I think it is more of an individual preference than a male female thing. I also worked at Zoos and now volunteer at the local parrot Sanctuary so I have met a great many birds.
  17. It sounds like he may have had an infection or injury to that eye. They can like us develop cataracts but from your description it does not appear to be the issue. The nare issue may be genetic or one may have some clogging if the environment was very dirty and the food inadequate he or she could have a sinus infection or other metabolic issues. I agree that a Vet visit is needed to determine what the right course is to good health. Meanwhile do offer fresh foods, some scrambled egg with or with out chopped leafy greens or sweet potato stirred in. Please keep us updated we all hope to hear how this lucky bird is doing in your care. It does seem that he or she has a much better chance of a happy life with you.
  18. Don't push it so far that you have a set back.
  19. You can offer him some herbal teas rather than the coffee. Chamomile, Pear tea, a green tea you get the idea just avoid the caffeinated ones so their hearts don't go double time. They love a warm drink or treat it may remind them of their childhoods when their parents fed them.
  20. Good to meet you and would love a picture of your Kiwi.
  21. That expression looks to brook no interference with dinner tasting. Framework looking magnificent, I admire your hard work.
  22. Wonderful to know her ability to enjoy life is expanding.
  23. Tearing up here, so very sad I bet you don't get Pizza or Potato chips either.
