Lima beans should not be fed frequently they have some bird unfriendly chemical componants." Lima beans contain a cyanogenic glycoside called 'phaseolunatin'. Beans which are grown in the US contain less than 0.01% which does not cause a problem. " from Dr. Lisa

So good to hear from you Ray very sorry for all your recent losses. How has Corky handled all the changes in his world? Always a pleasure to see Jayd and Maggie too!

My view is that folks do come here and read just not posting. I haven't had much to say it has been a very hectic time for our family. I will make an effort to participate more often there are enough birds here to have material to share. This is a great resource and our Greys only benefit from what we can learn from each other. Thank you ILeo for all you have done.

I have hidden things inside plain coffee filters inside a cardboard box but I let them watch me wrap the treats so they understand the presentation of something into their cage. Have also gotten sterile sand and hidden almonds in the shell so they have to dig.

Unfiltered Sunlight will help as will misting her with pure aloe vera juice (not the gel). Use brightly colored veggies and fruits to gain the most nutrition. Thank you for giving this bird a chance at a good life. You should be able to google to find an avian Veterinarian who is closest to you.

AWWWWW so cute!!

ok now you have non sterile gloves, just another service provided by your Zon! Update our newest flock member is an older Blue Fronted Amazon he was dumped behind a grooming shop in a dirty too small cage. The lady that found him did take him to the Vet and he rewarded her kindness by biting the hands that saved him. He has moved in with us and seems to prefer men to female persons. Getting a bit of color back above his beak it was faded to almost white. Eats every thing and so far after a couple of months is pretty quiet. Great appetite and plays with toys, destroys cardboard just like a real Zon. We have named him Mr. Green the kids call him Honkers.

So who knew he was a saltwater Grey? Good to see you all!
-
Glad her heighness is on the mend! Good to see you both back you were missed.
-
What a lovely surprise! So good to see you back again we must have missed lots of stories and adventures. Looking forward to catching up.

She could have fallen or caught it on a toy when you were not looking, Greys are not a graceful bird. Did they Radio graph the leg and foot?

He has learned from the previous peoples rough treatment that we are not a trustworthy species it will take quite a while to earn that trust back. Nothing wrong with bribes, non touching personal time-read to him show pictures(children's bright colored stories) heck sing and dance. time will eventually help heal both his psyche and your skin. You might contact Barbara Heidenreich she has some free publications and U tube videos. Wonderful advice.

Life with a Grey makes for patience being our first lesson. Congrats on adopting a recycled bird she will enrich your days. Look forward to the progress you will make together.

Mine occasionally get red palm oil or coconut oil in their veggies. Hemp seed goes into their birdy bread along with quinoa, eggs many fresh veggies and some fruit.

No magic wand so we just do our best working to keep them safe and as entertained and happy as possible. You did save Suki from his prison enviornment and you fought to bring him home. Not many of us live in what was our natural habitat any more either.

Pillow bird such a heart warming vision. Love to you all, flock included.
-
Absolutely that must have been a frightening time. Sending love your way.
-
Your guidance has given many birds a better life and in doing so enriched us all. I remember you telling us that if you were very good Maggie would sing for you-I hope she is doing so. A song in my heart for you both my friends.

She will be missed but she will still be giving love where she now dwells.
-
Understand how that happened though with good diet and your good care he will bounce back.
-
Hoping for a little relief for the pain, suffering is not good. Thank you for the time to give us an update we all care a great deal.

Any results from the droppings test?
-
It would be good to hear from them. I am certain that the Dr.s , Jay and their birds are taking all her time. Sending wishes for some relief to them .
