  1. Sending a little prayer his way, hope it helps and you are always welcome.
  2. Can you give him a little coconut juice? It is full of electrolytes and might perk him up a bit or some 50/50 Gatorade and water. Do keep him warm that is important.
  3. An upset in routines can spin us out of balance for sure. You have my empathy and glad to see your ability to write with humor is a great sign that even you and Gil girl will heal from the disturbance.
  4. You mentioned he is out during the day and active but not lunging to bite until you try to retrieve him for his sleep time? It sounds like he does not want to return to his cage and is trying to avoid doing so. With your current fears (well earned) he is reading your body language and knows he is able to make you react (yes they can be drama queens). A wing clip might be helpful if he were swooping at you during the normal out time during your day but not suggested if the bite only happens when you try to get him to come to you. I would not offer him food outside the cage make it the only place for food and treats ,so it becomes a positive place for him. You should try making the areas he goes to dark before you want him to leave that area or avoid his going there. Try to avoid the bite so that behavior is not getting reinforced, maybe offer a perch to step onto or just leaving his cage area lit in an effort to guide him that way.
  5. perhaps daylight length is triggering some hormonal response.
  6. Grey psionics why not? Part of how they get their way and take over the household no doubt a useful tool.
  7. I do not specifics but in most of nature a hybrid is often stronger health wise than it's parents.
  8. Glad you found us and nice that you are doing your research first. Each bird is different in personality we have a full house with birds people, dogs and cats. Our birds are all from other lives in other homes and have adjusted to life in the chaos that is our home. Most of our cages are by windows they enjoy watching the birds at the outside feeders, they do give alarm calls when a Hawks stoops into the yard after a Dove. Some Greys prefer a quiet home and others like to be part of the action. Kids mostly need to be aware that even a much loved Parrot can bite hard if they feel the need whether defensive of an attempt to "correct" their humans. Keeping this in mind there can be some safe interactions such as reading books to your bird, singing and dancing and just hanging out together. Some bird even learn to play catch with a soft toy or sock, or tug of war with a piece of cloth or sock. I think you and your family can have aq successful relationship with a Grey if you work on building trust.
  9. A colorful character and it looks like fun, shows what imagination can come up with.
  10. Your Ark is never quite full is it? Love those Shepard mixes, smart dogs. Hope gabby just beat those tail feathers trying to avoid those scary perch covers. I like those corner perches for birds that have leg issues have you tried one yet? That could be scary as well but at least one can place a tasty treat on there to help make it a better place.
  11. These were obviously field biologist cats doing a behavioral study, until rudely interrupted:rolleyes:.
  12. Hoping for a simple and fixable outcome, fingers crossed.
  13. So very happy for you both, thank you so much for your update allowing us to know the outcome. Persistence is one of those attributes that requires very hard work to continue against the grain, good win! (:>
  14. Nice way to aquire a family Grey, Dwight seems to be a name with dignity.
  15. Conures seem to have that Napoleon attitude, small dynamic and domineering. When sweet as they can be they are a rainbow of joy.
  16. You can add chopped veggies to an omlette or scrambled eggs for them and you have a healthy meal as well. You can toss with Pasta (WHOLE GRAIN IS GOOD) then add a little coconut oil or red palm oil.
  17. Very good news now lets see if it is enforceable.
  18. Question, do you have any lotion on your hands? Welcome and feel free to ask questions. You will be learning about Grey time, they have to learn to trust us and trying to make them do anything can mess up that trust.
  19. You can also turn on some loud music maybe Metallica or something you can both sing to, distraction is the key rather than reaction. Ms. Pookie fancies herself a singer as well.
  20. Ok I vote hybrid C/T either way she sounds like a wonderful new companion for you .
  21. Interesting birds, which of the third pair do you intend to keep? The bronze is a nice choice. There are so many breed of Pigeon although my favorite is not common . Victoria Pigeon.
  22. Greys can have the red factor genes but they can also replace grey feathers with red ones at the site of an injury or plucked area. Pookie is one of the latter. When she came to live with us she had a badly plucked neck, belly, chest legs and underside of her wings. Now only part of her chest , lower belly a front of her neck are kind of bare. She has several red feathers along her neck and shoulders and her leggings and just a few on her chest where she has allowed the missing feathers to regrow, big step forward but it had taken a few years and given her new colors.
  23. Yes I laughed as well, been there done that. Probably strengthens our immune systems.
  24. How is it having a Grey as a co-worker? Welcome and hope you feel like you belong here.
