I never did play WoW, thought I'd get sucked into it and waste all my time lol, so I avoided it You KNOW you're a bird owner when... your floors have bits of runaway food all over them, and flung wet foods against the wall... when you have to vacuum or sweep way more than the average person and can never have a clean house for more than a day or two

I agree! You were very lucky and Emma was great to go to another human for safety I'm going to have to start being stricter with hurrying through the doors too, as Yoshi now has 4 flight feathers grown in and will be flying soon!
-
It's so nice to hear that Emma is safe and no harm seems to have come to her while she was gone You sure were lucky! I'm so happy for you

Emma has flown out of the door

Awwwwwwww... I'm a bit behind, haven't been on in a couple days, but I sure am happy that Emma was found! Bet she is happy to be home too! -
An update...after being advised to rehome my bird

They look great together! I'm glad it worked out so well for you -
Thanks again for all the advice. My husband and I have talked about it and we are BOTH ignoring Yoshi's screaming together, and trying to prevent it before she can start by keeping her busy. Haven't had any real progress yet, but then she hasn't gotten louder or anything either, so I'll have to do an update next weekend I'm just glad we are both on the same team, and while he is still doubtful, my husband has read the provided information as well as replies on my previous posts and agrees to give ignoring a try. Right now Yoshi is happy as can be, on my shoulder playing with my hair... I sure do love her <3

Yes, there are plenty of hawks around here too... We actually passed by a bald eagle's nest the other day, Yoshi and I, on our walk. Those birds are amazing Yoshi stared at that nest and the eagle in it until we were far away though!

I've got some new pictures to show you guys Yoshi sure got wet in the shower today! She was flapping those wings and everything She probably appreciated the shower as she has a bunch of new pin feathers! She looks like a ghost in this one I caught her flapping the extra water off her wings... Drying off and playing with some of her new toys What'cha looking at? lol

That's neat Jill I'll have to look some of those books up!

Looks awesome and it's great that Murphy got to join you guys outside

wow you guys are so helpfull Thanks! I'll have to give those links a good read myself!

I am trying to make my husband understand why ignoring a screaming bird is a good idea rather than getting all irritated and yelling 'No!' and making a big scene. He tells me that 'At least when I yell no! she shuts up for a couple minutes!' Could someone sum it up better than I how ignoring would work or link me to a good short article about it? Thanks... I'm not so good at explaining things to him and he doesn't have the time to read tons of information so I'm just trying to simplify it for him. I just feel that his super annoyed reactions and yelling No! at her aren't going to do anything good...

Wow that last stand looks awesome... where did you get all the different PVC pieces?
-
This is a very interesting idea! I'd like to see more pictures too... it isn't just around her feet is it? I would hate all the pressure to pull on the feet if our Grey flew. I don't really know that much about how falconry equipment works...
-
Lol about the babble ball... I LOVE your signature by the way
-
Pepper looks lovely outside

Nice tips Yoshi loves to sit outside with an ice cube... she will nibble on it until its all gone, switching claws and catching the water that drips from the bottom while balancing on one foot. She also likes the water hose set on mist, and I spray her down when we are outside Florida sun is hot and humid!

Lol no idea why she wouldn't find that funny Honestly I'd soooooo rather Yoshi could just fly to me. I can't wait until she can. I've never had clipped birds before, and I never wanted Yoshi to be clipped, so it's interesting! But it just breakes my heart when she tries so hard for just a tiny bit of lift with her 4 feathers... but the day is comming

Thanks guys... I'll take more vidoes, soon as there is something funny for me to take

My Grey is flying onto my conures cage and trying to attack her
jessdecutie18 replied to winstonboy's topic in Training
I would also advise you to separate them, or to make sure your grey can't get at your other birds, especially while trapped in their cages. I used to have a Quaker, the most lovable little guy, but he was extremely jealous of my parrakeet. One day I had Kiwi the quaker out of her cage and she flew onto my parrakeets cage and in no time bit off one of her toes as they attacked each other through the bars. It was SOOOOOOOOOO scary, and can happen in an instant. My parrakeet was okay after the initial bleeding and a sore foot for a while... it's difficult with big birds and small birds, cause those big beaks can do one hell of a lot of damage. Now I only have my Yoshi grey so I don't have to worry about these things! I'm curious what others have done to separate their big and little birds, and how they manage having them out together? -
I'm so sorry to hear that happened... and am glad they will replace it for you. It's only right.

Aww it's so nice to see him looking so good!
-
Aww well I hope he has a great birthday!

Quick comment on this! Do not leave a harnessed bird unattended... they could strangle themselves. Yoshi used to fall all the time or even jump from her cage also with terribly clipped feathers. She dropped hard, and even bled once just above her legs on her tummy. This was a couple months ago. We took advice from the forum and put a kid play mat down for a couple months for softer landings and it worked great! Now we don't need it anymore, as Yoshi is getting some of her unclipped feathers in and doesn't just drop anymore Perhaps this is an idea! You should have seen when I saw that blood, I was horrified! Luckily it was a damaged little feather, and not anything serious. The vet actually recently gave Yoshi a clean bill of health
