  1. It was hard for me too. I am in Canada and searched using the canada bird breeder directory on the net. Abundance weaning is the best way, meaning the breeder allows the baby to slowly and gradually wean at its own pace by handfeeding and also introducing new healthy foods, veg's, fruits, pellets, etc. Every baby is different in terms of how fast they become independent and eat on their own. By making the bird wean faster than it would like to, you are at risk of the bird haveong emotional problems and also learning that humans cannot be a trusted source of food and proper care.
  2. BU AH HAHAHAHAHAAHHAAAAAA...... lol:laugh:
  3. THANKS LADIES! you are confirming what I already thought, but with ppl telling me different I wanted other opinions! Now I have Proof! haha
  4. I wouldnt buy a bird from a breeder that would sell an unweaned baby. It just isnt safe. I would say 16 weeks as minimum. Any breeder that will sell off their babies too early does not have the babies well being in mind.
  5. Dont rush into buying one of these birds. Take your time and find the RIGT one, from a Great breeder. get one that has been weaned on the birdies terms at his won pace when he/she is ready, and go meet the bird so you can see his/her reaction to you.
  6. Welcome SuzyGS ask away! there are loads of grey lovers ready and willing to help you with any questions!
  7. Thanks Judy. I am kinda insulted when people say that! I am defensive as my Dalia is trying to talk and I think she will be able to just as well as any other grey.
  8. The BEST way is to freeze it in 3 day portions and take out as needed. Thats what I do, I label the large ziplock bag with the date and what it is, and inside put all of the small baggies. I know the heartbreak when you slave away in the kitchen and are so proud of your creation and then get a taste and NO THANKS mom/dad I no likey!! I keep trying and offering anyways...cant hurt!
  9. I was told by people that males are better talkers than females. My breeder said that they both talk just as well, and make just as good of a companion. Let me just say also that I didn't get Dalia JUST so I could have a bird that talks. As I know some never do. I just want some opinions from the family here.... thanks everyone, Cristen
  10. Thats too bad Dually. But, dont take it personally. Stick with slowly trying to win her over and hopefully she will gradually get better with you. You never know what situations she was placed in before you got her and cant fully understand what you dont about her past and now current fears. Good luck and keep the patience. Cristen
  11. THANKS JUDY! Yes, Timmy is shy with everyone but me. He wont go to anyone, but at the same time he is not mean just scared of what he doesnt know. He NEVER tries to bite he flies away if scared. I dont clip their wings so he likes to show them off too... he has quite the personality! look here...
  12. I think he/she is just being silly and playin around... My lil budgie Cheekz doesnt do that but, my lil Lovie Mo does that all the way around his perch like a gymnast! He is a little performer. It shows that he is happy too wich I love. Here is Mo my lovebird, Timid Timmy my cockatiel, and Cheekz my budgie. They seem to really get along and like to hang out..
  13. Awe thats so exciting!!! Make sure you post pictures if/when all of the eggys hatch! we ALL wanna see for sure!
