  1. might want to chip him in case he gets lost in the cage.
  2. only thing that bothers me is this line " he can use something besides the seeds that he craves so ". do you feed gil other things like veggies fruit etc? Jeff
  3. 3 weeks is no time in the scheme of things. in fact you have made great progress in a short time for a bird that has been 6 years on seed. habits dont change over night. its normal from them to grind pellets. there is always some powder
  4. Jamal, i love your sympathy for folks in similar plights as your own. but this guy hasnt posted in almost 8 years so i doubt he will get your message of hope.
  5. what makes you think he wants a tent? is he building a campfire? toasting marshmellows?
  6. So for a few months or so Storm has been playing with her feathers, ones that she has plucked. Just kinda chewing on them and such. Its not something that happens all the time. Just occassionally. she doesnt have any bald spots or anything. Is it normal to play with feathers? Should i be concerned?
  7. the next week is going to seem like a year. but you will get through it. Gratz!
  8. I have to buy another one and give it a try vacuum at the clasp. I love it storm hates it. I went slow took months before i put it on her. let it hang by her cage for long time. then the day came to put it on she fought tooth and nail. I gave up and she didnt talk to me for a week. Gave me the cold shoulder. Is a shame i like hiking and it would be a blast to bring her along.
  9. Shanti really looks happy. how does the cage handle water and food? you have a nice backyard
  10. now if i can only teach toby to say give jeff a million dollars
  11. sure but no new info was added that wasnt already said. so i guess i dont understand why it is resurfacing when if anyone needs the info they can search on it.
  12. why are we digging up posts from last year?
  13. i saw someone in a earier post try to pet dave and he nearly bit there head off. so yeah just stay away from them
  14. i've read to leave the eggs for a week then yank them. i would get her to a vet asap if you havent done so already
  15. you sure about the birds feelings? i said "want scritches" and storm just looks at me funny. if i say want scratches she bows her head. is your proof scientific? Jeff
  16. it could also be a sign of sickness. think i read that somewhere. does she hold one foot up?
  17. so whats a scritch? i always say scratch. and fids? originate from uk or global?
  18. are they just frayed at the ends? i have had some like that and i just cut off the frays
  19. you said everytime my wife does that so sounds like she regularly uses the feather duster. I'm suprised that she hasnt become a predator and on the receiving end of more unwanted behaviour. if your grey isnt safe i would suggest clipping, normally im a fan of not clipping. Storm came to me clipped from the breeder but until it becomes a problem she will be allowed to grow out her wings. do you have plenty of toys out there that your grey can destroy?
  20. wow very cool i'm gonna have to try that!
  21. forget the adoption. i admire you for wanting to take it on but likely you wont have the skills to take a rescue. my advice is to take it slow there are plenty of good greys out there and their is no hurry! take your time get your priorties in check. your still at home and im guessing still in highschool. Finish hs, get a job and hopefully more schooling and then see if your ready to take on the great responsiblity of getting a grey. Take some time and read up on them there is lots to know!
  22. or close the food door. the cage door is typically open all day
  23. Storm Houdini performed her first great escape act today. My cage is the kind where you get to the bowls from he outside, that has a gate that latches closed. I routinely leave it open. I work at home and storm is pretty much out all the time. I was doing errands today and decided to let he stay in the cage when i got back to change things up a bit. I was changing out food and taking it too the kitchen and heard wings flapping. I'm scratching my head as i know i left the door closed. she escaped out the food door. which is no easy task to maneuver through and she did it seconds. got to be a world record!
