  1. Early last month I went on vacation for a week and some change. I had a good friend whom storm knew come in and take care of her. He stayed in my place so someone was always with her. I would call her on the phone most days and talk to her. She was cute, whenever my friend got on the phone Storm would come over and monopolize the phone thinking i was on and she would try to talk to me. When I came back it was as if i had never left. Their were no issues on my return. Now where the problem starts. I had to go to the hospital for a sleep study. I originally had planned for my daughter to sleep over, but turned out my appointment was from 10 pm to 6 am. So i figured that shouldnt be a problem. After all i regularly leave her alone durning the day to go hiking etc. I do work at home. So I left her alone for the night. When i came back I found four flight feathers [their was blood on the tips] and 2 tail feathers plucked. None of the small feathers though. She is fully flighted. Well all of the feathers hadnt quite grown back yet. She is about a year and a half. Was clipped by the breeder but i have let them grow out. Should I be concerned? She does have some issues with her landing now, should i clip her to protect her? I know the real proof will be if she continues plucking, looks like i cant leave her alone at night. I'm worried it will escalate to day times when i leave. any suggestions?
  2. what kind of toy hooks were you using? can you post a pic?
  3. why the heck is that so much?
  4. Its perposturous to think that we teach them to bite. Now enforcing the behaviour thats another story.
  5. looks like they gave carol a 2 dollar discount for the pleasure of carrying the aloe for her.
  6. was watching hockey the other day. a guy got checked into the boards and Storm goes That Hurts!
  7. you have one smart grey. I can picture her doing that. so cute!
  8. Going for the item you dont want them to have rarely works. A trick i use is get them interested in a favorite toy. they will drop the bad thing in a heart beat and go for the better toy.
  9. will take a lot of work. Greys tend to be a one person bird. If this is recent brutus has likely chosen his mate. but others can handle him if you work at it. The he doesnt come out unless my husband brings him out is not likely to succeed. instead have him be the bringer of treats and be the feeder.
  10. This nest week is going to seem like a year!
  11. honestly annmarie i would read a few more books before diving into another bird. Birds bite, but most times its not their fault. You said the bird was constantly biting you and you only had the bird for a week. you and the bird didnt even have enough time to learn each other. If you take the time to learn the bird before you do heavy duty handling, you will do better in the future. Your bird should not have had a chance to constantly bite you. I recommend a parakeet or perhaps a cockatiel for your first bird.
  12. Think I just figured out Kilangs game. This is a good read: http://www.telegraphindia.com/1090315/jsp/calcutta/story_10670074.jsp its long but it likely explains what our new friend is trying to accomplish
  13. Loved steves big fortune small fortune analogy. I nearly spit out my soda. Im wondering how any of these posts could have "touched" Kilang. He must not have read them. Its really hard to read him after his last message. And what is he thanking us for? laughing at his idea or throwing his money away?
  14. Right now i just have little carrier i bought from wal mart. Storm loves riding in the car. I take her just about everywhere except pet stores. Only had a problem with my optometrist, didnt like me taking her out of the carrier. Grocery stores, to pick up fast food, no probs. I have always had positive experiences taking her out. Everyone is interested in Storm. It really helps socialize her. The other day she even said hello to a passerby. Normally she doesnt talk about strangers. Though like LTG it may be a differ story if i brought her out

I'm kinda with sam here. we have a one liner from a newbie that wanted advice and we all assumed the worse and let him have it. Now he is afraid to come back and we cant help the grey! We dont even know what he has tried to alleviate the situation. Was that smart?
