1. What a great idea for a project! She's beautiful!
2. He sure loves romping around on the blanket.
3. I have a feeling that her neighbours are exaggerating a bit. It doesn't make sense that her two parrots are that disturbing especially since she has her own house. I do agree that when people like us they tend to be more tolerant of stuff they would normally feel bothered by.
4. Katana, I am very confident that with effort and mindfulness on your part.. your red belly parrot (poicephalus) and your CAG will do fine in the same environment. Poicephaluses tend to be on the quiet side also.{Feel-good-00020114}
5. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. If it gives you all peace of mind then that's fine!{Feel-good-00020114}
6. I recommended that she purchase them some ear plugs!{Feel-good-0002006E}
7. A member of another forum posted this on another forum. She has a Meyers Parrot and an African grey who is 5 years old. Her grey makes all kinds of sounds but does NOT talk human. She was strongly considering adopting another grey until she spoke to one of her neighbours for the first time in 31/2. Keep in mind that she has her own house. The neighbour told her that she should be more vigilant with her parrots and that they are very noisy and disturb them alot. The neighbour also asked her how long do parrots live and was very disappointed when she told him 30 years or more. What would you do in her place?
8. Nice to have you hear. Your grey looks absolutely adorable!{Feel-good-00020114}
9. I am very glad to share some happy news! My little Emma can now fly, glide, hover and LAND properly as of this weekend. She turned 17 months old this week and was clipped TWICE before coming home to me last year. Even when she was clipped, she could still fly for long distances but ultimately she would also crashed into walls ALOT. :unsure: I am super pleased with her progress because I was getting concerned about her crash landings into things. I worried that the bad landings might get in the way of her confidence with flying and landing skillfully. I started to notice that she would only resort to flying when she became impatient and wanted to come to me or when something startled her. While I write this I am also reminded that I will never bring her outside without her Adventure pack.. The risk of losing her would be too great if something startled her and she instinctively decided to flee . {Love-0002011E}

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/08/09 23:19
10. What a funny Harvey!!{Feel-good-0002006E}
11. What a cutie pie! I the name too!{Feel-good-00020114}
12. I agree that you should ask your Uncle to not come around for a while so that you and Lenny can get to know each other ALOT more and feel comfortable with each other. Continue to be kind, gentle, loving and consistent with Lenny. He will come around in time.{Feel-good-00020114}
13. If these are my only choices.. I'd go for the vet that has more knowledge, background, experience and "has a terrific reputation". The bottom line is that I would want my parrot to have the best care available when the situation arises. I couldn't care less about his personality and his huffy attitude and I would exercise my ability to be just as strong willed and assertive if I had to. Of course this is just me.

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/08/09 20:29
14. What great pictures. Tigerlilly is a very lucky girlie!{Feel-good-00020114}
15. Woohoo for Beau!! Does he like his water ice cold too?{Feel-good-00020114}
16. Poor AnnaBella. I don't blame her for putting up a good fight. Being toweled sure isn't too fun and it messes up her nice feathers too. Glad to hear that her beak was looked after. She sure is one lovely looking grey. Does she go to the vet regularly every 6 months for her beakie?

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/08/09 16:52
17. Hi Linnea and nice to have you aboard. It's great to know that you're doing your research and homework on african greys in order to determine whether they would fit in your lifestyle. I applaud you for considering a parrot from a rescue shelter too. Please don't hesitate to ask ALOT and all types of questions on here.{Feel-good-00020114}
18. I really enjoyed watching this. Hope you do too.
19. Thanks for your replies guys. Trust - I do agree that Emma seems to enjoy her vegetable even more than before. Tyco's Mom - I introduced my parrots to the Harrison's Powertreats for about 2 months before introducing the regular pellets. Not sure if that helps but they really LOVE the power treats. By the way...15$ for 1lb of Harrison's seems very costly. Have you searched for a cheaper place to purchase them? I purchase 1lb for 11$ and 5lbs for about 45$ and I am in Canada.

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/08/08 22:02
20. Looks like you've done an awesome job with him. {Feel-good-00020114}
21. Thanks guys! The Adventure pack has been very useful in allowing her to see new sights/people and also receive some direct sunlight. {Feel-good-00020114}
22. I’m posting this thread because I’m wondering if there may be something to the above statement when it comes to our African greys. First and foremost I would like to make clear that I do not work for Harrison’s Bird Food Company nor am I associated to anyone who works for them. I say this because I remember reading a lot about their pellets before I decided to go ahead and purchase their product. I already knew that they produce an organic product made with premium ingredients and vet recommended, but I also recall reading their pamphlets which claimed that if your parrots started consuming their product they would not only enjoy good health and appearance but also a very noticeable change in behaviour and temperment... blah, blah blah Example · More vocal and playful nature · Decreased biting, yelling, picking · Increased affection · Etc……….. I honestly felt that the latter examples were a bunch of huey and really just a marketing ploy. As mentioned in one of my previous posts.. I have decreased Emma’s Roudybush portion and increased her Harrison’s pellets portion. In all honesty, I have noticed that she is much more gentle and affectionate than she was before and biting has almost been non existant. The other thing that I am amazed about is how much she seems to LOVE eating her Harrison’s pellets and will eat her bowl clean. ( I only put out 1 portion at a time.) Who knows,maybe it’s all just a coincidence and I am merely getting better at reading my African grey and she is getting the point. Either way, I do feel that Harrison’s pellets have a very good impact on my Emma. I just hope that I will always be able to afford them. Anyways, I just thought I’d put that out there. I wonder about those of you who may have been feeding your parrot another pellet previously and are now feeding Harrison’s.
