tell you you have a friend in wisconsin that will come pick them up...see what she says lol

when does this contest end?
-
so does willis! it's all the time tho. he doesn't have to be wet, but it's most noticeable when he is, or when he's in just the right light...yes post the pic so i can see if it's the same thing!

i found my breeder on birdbreeders.com everything was going good until one day i went back on the site and she was gone! i emailed the site and asked if she removed herself or if she was removed (they will remove breeders with too many neg. comments) and i didn't get an answer (i didn't think i would) so i googled her name, and avairy name...got some bad reviews from places like ripoffreport.com etc. and ended up finding her reviews from birdbreeder.com that were bad. (when i found her she had all good ones, i sent her a deposit, and a few weeks later i discovered all this stuff. i drove to pick up my little guy to make sure i didn't get ripped off) so my experience wasn't the greatest (see the post about my guy having e. coli) but please don't take it as a knock to the site, i'm sure there are good breeders on there...i'm just giving my experience with it...and GOOGLE the person's name!! hope everything works out for you!

this is kind of an old post but somehow stumbled upon it... wow...i never would of imagined that! i 'pet' my little guy down his back and under his wings (mostly cuz i want him to be used to me touching him everywhere in case i need to for some reason) but i'll have to get out of that habit. willis is only 14 or so weeks old but i don't want to get in the habit now and regret it later! yet another reason why i love this forum!!
-
my dad suggested using a x-mas tree stand. i didn't cuz it's not x-mas time and they're not available (lol) and i can't have a real tree in my apartment so i don't even own one, but it is a good idea. i'm sure it would of been lighter at the very least! lol (mine's a pain to move!! but at least i know the kids can't knock it over ha!)
-
this one's just straws, wiffle balls and beads. i'm gonna re-do it cuz willis loves those straws!! (got the idea from a diff. post about the straws...HUGE HIT!!) not a very exciting toy but he likes it lol. he was playing with it till i pulled out the camera figures
-
had to write to say thanks to loviechick!! i just got off the phone with harrison's and hagen (my phone's battery was dying so i have to wait before i can call the others) and my samples are on their way. whoever said melanie (from hagen) was nice they were right! harrison's just took my name and address (which is ok) but melanie talked to me for about a 1/2 hour at least, and was very helpful and nice, she even gave my tips on weaning. i'll post again when i've called the other places and when i get my products, but just wanted to say thanks for starting this (and thanks to the pple who run this forum and made it a sticky...i never would of found it otherwise!)
-
sorry...they're kinda bigger than i thought they would be lol
-
here he is on his 1/2 finished tree eating his fav...corn (he doesn't actually eat it unless i pop it for him) and one of him and my bf
-
how old is your baby? mine's about 13 1/2 weeks. he flys all over the place! i think he's a little behind with things (i don't think the breeder did things she should of) but still is normal. he didn't start to try flying until 12 weeks or so (later, but still normal) and he's getting really good at it now! he also didn't see a perch till i got him (10 weeks), and wasn't introduced to anything (food wise, or toys) except formula and a few pellets, until i got him. he's doing really well getting around on his tree i made (which he LOVES!!!) and his cage. and i'm hoping once this crop infection is gone, that'll be the end of our problems!
-
i got a booklet about harrison's from my vet and there was a pic of alex in there before and after, and he really did improve a lot (his feathers)
-
tycosmom-willis didn't eat anything really! he wouldn't even look at his veggies, which he loves, and he usually comes running at the sight of his syringe, and nothing. i gave him his first does last night, and he still didn't eat. but then before i left for work last night(10:45pm) he was pecking at his pellets! then this morning i gave him his meds again (which he hates cuz i don't mix it with his formula since he's not eating it) and he ate 35cc! still a little less than normal but soo much better! i'm so happy he seems to be eating again! i hope it continues and wasn't just a fluke. thanks all you guys!!
-
i'm waiting for my copy of alex and me but when i saw the video's i wondered why he was so plucked, but i never thought it was from neglect becuase i knew who both of them were. i should get my copy later this week, i'm pretty excited!
-
lol i'm not really sure why willis...it just seems to fit him. he seems to like it i feel so bad for my little guy...it seems to be one thing after another for him...i'll keep you guys updated
-
*sigh* well we're back from the vet...crop infection. did I do something to cause this? he started refusing his fomula about the time he was done with his meds for e. coli, so maybe he's had it a while? does anyone know what causes a crop infection? i'm hoping after this clears up my little guy stays healthy!! oh i forgot too...he has a name now...it's willis thanks for the support everyone!
-
yup...he's pooping normal. everything about him is still normal except he's not eat like he did and he's losing weight. i made an appt for him later today just to make sure it's not a crop infection. (his not eating started friday night) i'll let you know what she says
-
i'm not sure if this should go in the nursery or here but... my little guy is weaning and learning how to fly, and he's losing weight, which i knew to expect...but how much is too much weight loss? he went from 397g to 380g to 379g in the past few days. he's refusing most of his formula, and doesn't seem to be eating anything on his own, but he's acting perfectly normal and flying around like crazy...should i be worried?
-
just thought i'd follow-up on how my little guy's doing now...he's GREYT!! he's done a complete turn-around since i got him. when i first brought him home, all he did all day long was cry (like the hunger cry) it was driving me crazy. as bad as it makes me feel saying this...i thought to myself what did i get myself into? if this is what having a baby grey is all about maybe i made a mistake. (boy was i wrong) since he started his meds. he has completely changed! he squacks, runs around, pokes at everything (so curious), plays with toys, makes all these cute little noises...oh i'm in heaven!! i can't even begin to explain how much joy this little guy has brought me...i'm sure everyone here knows what i mean. and carolandfamily: i still haven't heard anything from my breeder! i emailed her a few days ago asking if she would send me a new hatch cert. with his sex on it (she said she would) and also updated her with how he was doing so much better since he started the meds, asked some ?'s about weaning, etc. said nothing mean or about the bills...nothing but nice friendly things...still no response!! i can't say i'm surprised but what kind of a breeder acts like this!! i'm just glad i got him when i did...he's such a sweet little guy! i don't want to even think about what would of happened if i would of left him there!
-
it's made out of white birch lyric...i scrubbed the whole thing with a wire brush just to make sure there was nothing bad on it...i'll post another pic when it's got some toys on it. the only bad thing about it...it doesn't really have anywhere to hang toys from that he'll still be able to reach so i might have to add a few more branches...
-
thanks for posting this! it's really helpful for me (someone who knows nothing about weaning!) i was getting a little worried because my little guy didn't seem to be refusing anything, and seemed to still be hungry after i was done feeding the 40cc. (the breeder said DO NOT feed more than this otherwise i'd stretch the crop) he's finally begining to refuse some of his formula (so far it's only when he's got about 5cc left but it's something!) with all the reading i've done lately i think the breeder i got mine from has some more learning to do! so thanks!!

it's an old tree pot i had laying around. there was a rose bush in it like 4 years ago and it's been laying around ever since, so i thought i'd use that. i poured a layer of plaster of paris, let it dry, did a layer of sand, then another layer of plaster. i don't think i needed 2 layers of plaster, i just wanted to make sure the thing didn't tip over! lol over-all this was easy to make...but let me tell you it is HEAVY lol. the pot all by itself was pretty heavy...my only suggestion if anyone makes something like this...put it somewhere you won't have to move it often!
-
it's not finished yet...still need to add toys, but i just HAD to post a pic cuz it turned out way cooler than i thought it would! let me know what you think.
-
many of you have said you have full spectrum lighting for your greys...where did you get them? is there anywhere to get them besides the internet? (pet stores, etc.) is it just a special lightbulb or do you need something else? thanks

does anyone know if birds make noise in their sleep? i swear my little guy is sleeping and he's making these little cooing noises. not loud at all. does anyone else's bird do this?
