Buster is not actually mine Shelly I dont know what they have done so far but thanks xx -
Buster went missing on the 31st May near Asda, Dunkeld Road, Perth. She is 2 years old and described as a bit nervous. Although its been nearly six weeks i spoke with the owner's son today to see if they had found Buster yet, but no joy so i said id put this on here. I work in Perth and keep looking for a red tail in the sky..... Please contact 07790354893. Report to moderator 90.217.151.71

Hi there interested to read this post. Dusty my baby is nearly nine months old. I spend most of the time with her. My partner is having to work to have a place in her life as Dusty has chosen me lol;) I feel as if we catch it now then their relationship will imrpove, not that it is extremely bad but Dusty seldom steps up for my partner in contrast to when she first came home six months ago. Dusty also threatens to bite my partner. I also have an OWA who is bonded to me so my life is hard work lol :silly: Good luck

Well Dusty is eight months old tomorrow, came home to me December 27 nearly 14 weeks old. So far so good Dusty is my baby, lets me cuddle her, gives me kisses, lets me know when she wants hed scritches. Generally behaves well, eats everything in site, the majority is good B) Dusty says a few words like hello, **** off oops) and is experimenting with others and at the moment keek a boo is her favourite..... Today i must admit was the worst ever in terms of her demanding my attention with her amazon like sqeals (Gizmo my 5 yo OWA makes sure she teaches Dusty that, Gimzo doesnt really speak). She also made a constant point of flying to the top of my plasma tv knowing that she is not allowed up there. Question what should i do at this point its as if she knows i will go and get her off the tv, which she does step up no bother but i think she is wanting that so gets the desired reward ? When she gets loud i move her stand and remove her from the room until she quietens down or says something, noise which is not the squeal like noise. Today thought she started again when i brought her back in the room :pinch: The boundary testing grey is here, you wouldnt think so looking at this pic would you ?

Dusty is a nightmare to get back into her cage during the day but easier at night. She steps up on command and i place her backwards into her cage, she does sneak away sometimes up high lol and i need to use a stick which she steps up onto again no problems then to my hand............. five minutes tops and she is in xx I have to trick her as well. The thing is my OWA Gizmo goes into her cage no problem

I rescued an Orange Winged Amazon by the name of Gizmo last May, she is five and im her fourth home already. Gizmo had a torrid time in one home. She has come on leaps and bounds. Gizmo doesnt speak but makes great noises and i love her so much. I got Dusty my baby grey in December, she is nearly eight months old and adorable. I decided to get a handreared bird and only had one thought a GREY. It was more due to stuff i had read about them being great companions. She says a few words already and comes out with something different every day by means of noise. Already ive encountered a very intelligent bird who is curious, playful and has her own way of telling you how she feels. The eyes/facial expressions crack me up they are so true. Im not saying my ammie Gimzo isnt clever, the past hides that i think and she is more clever than she makes out. Dusty has brought Gizmo right out of her shell. There are down sides like the noise level of the baby grey copying the mature ammie, but hopefully Dusty will grow out of that xx Here is a pic i made a couple of months ago, they are just getting this close again lol

Hi there, this post is so relevant to me at the moment. Dusty who is only eight months old is going through a screaming noisy spell at the moment. Some noises are tolerable but some are not. I understand she is finding her feet but i do have to ignore... I also have the added benefit:pinch: of a five year old hormonal female orange winged amazon who is also currently going through a moult. Gizmo doesnt speak but makes noises needless to say baby Dusty has picked some of these up and oh boy there is noise. I stay in a flat/apartment but my neighbours have not complained and ive asked the one underneath me, she can hear the birds when her window is open. Both birds live in the same room and one cant go somewhere without the other. The amazon has bonded with me and they both crave my attention. Its never ending.... Please be patient I like you sometimes feel as if i'm climbing up the wall........... Butter wouldnt melt ............

Post edited by: Dusty1709, at: 2009/05/05 23:12

Know its maybe not what you are looking for, but i have a five year old Orange Winged Amazon called Gizmo who i rescued last May. Dusty my baby african grey of seven months joined the flock in December. Gizmo has came on so much and is so comical with her behaviours. She has accepted Dusty in some ways and always wants to know what is going on, so demands wherever Dusty goes she goes too lol:ohmy: Gizmo loves to play and keep an eye out, very vigilant and at present hormonal of which Dusty doesnt know what to make of when she tries to come on to her. I love Gizmo, amazons are so much different from Greys and so much noisier in my experience which of course Dusty not speaking yet, takes great pleasure in imitating noisy noisy nosiy !!!!!!!!!!:cheer:

Hi know this question will have been asked. What does it mean when you put a baby grey in its cage and it then scratches at their food bowl, its like Dusty is trying to dig a hole and gets itself in weird and wonderful positions. Is she trying to get out ? Advice would be appreciated.

Post edited by: Dusty1709, at: 2009/01/22 23:03

Hi all it will be four weeks on Saturday since Dusty came home, she is four months old. Dusty is very loving and steps up and down no problems.I read somewhere on this forum prior to registering that babies can squeal etc. Dusty is trying to mumble words already but has took the house phone ring to heart lol and the smoke alarm from when i burn the toast, the thing is these noises have become sharper and go right through me. I have now put the house phone off when im at work and I am attempting to stop burining toast ha ha. Does anyone have anyone have advice re replacing these noises ?? Otherwise my baby is great and has already started to bully my five year old Orange Winged Amazon Gizmo lol

Post edited by: Dusty1709, at: 2009/01/20 22:43
