my TAG is missing all but 3 claws. the others where chewed off by the parent birds when he was hatched. He doesn't know the difference. your bird will be fine if it doesn't grow back
-
I was looking at Bandit's beak and it almost looks as if it is pealing. Does that happen?? He acts normal, his feathers look fine, he eats and drinks fine. could this be an issue? I was going to take him to a vet but if this is normal I wont take him. thanks
-
yeah unfourtunantly i saw him chew them off.
-
Bandit finally has 2 new tail feathers growing back in!! Hopefully this is why he was chewing them. He has seemend to have stopped.
-
my TAG is the same way as Heatherstrella's. He is about 8 months old and if he is out of his cage he had to be on me. House work is an interesting chore. As she said things fall get spilt but, I too, love it. There are even nights that I have to lock him in his cage cause he thinks he needs to help with dinner!

Bandit and I have finally overcome the "Devil Harness"!! It took about 3 weeks constantly, everyday playing with the harness and him We have gone outside several times due to the fact we are having unusually warm weather for this time of year, around 60-70 degrees!! Usually there is a couple feet of snow. We made our first short trip into our small town to get a few things from the grocery store yesterday. He was woderful. I do have to watch him because if he thinks I am not looking he has figured out how to unhook his harness, and he enjoys chewing on it (of which I stop as soon as I start).

How many people have TAG's and How many have CAG's
bandits_mom08 replied to Ronda477's topic in The GREY Lounge
I have a TAG. I would someday love to have a CAG. I haven't mentioned this to my husband yet!! I am the type to bring home the animals who are homeless. That is how I ended up with my TAG. -
Welcome!! Sooo glad you could join us. I am sorry to hear about your grey that was lost but, glad to hear you able to give another a home! My little Bandit (TAG) he too is missing most of his toes from when he was in the nest and the buyer that was lined up said he was pretty much worthless. He seems to just fine like your Gloria. hope to see some pictures if you have some you would like to share!!

I was just curious if this birds family was ever found. Very sad story. But, thankfully you are there to care for him/her.
-
May I ask, what is lacto plus? I have not had Bandit get sick on me yet so I would have know idea on how to deal with it except take him to the vet. I noticed that you are recommending this every 3 months to help keep them healthy. I definantly don't want a sick bird!!
-
That's awsome. I didn't know he was a breeder also.
-
Thanks for the lesson on chewing vs. plucking. I think it is a case of chewing. I am glad they should eventually grow back. How sad for Tyco, I am glad she stoped chewing.
-
Ok, so, when they chew off the feathers will the grow back?? There is something left at the base of where the feather was. He has/had a beautiful tail and I don't want him to loose that. He has successfully chewed out a couple more tail feathers in the last couple days. He is down to 5 and is working on another. Routine has not changed, his skin doesnt look to dry, he is not scratching anymore than usual, and he seems happy. I am confused!!

I went and checked that cage out online and I like that one. I didn't get into much detail as I was short on time but if that site is a good one I may just be purchasing that one. Thanks!!

Another cage question: Has any one ever heard of the web site "Quality Discount Cages"? the web address is: http://www.qualitydiscountcages.com Just curious if any one knows their reputation. I found a cage there that I really like and it's at a decent price. Any input would be great. Thanks, Amanda
-
Thanks I'll keep an eye on him. He is 7 months old now and this hasn't seemed to be a problem in the past.
-
I am a little conserned with Bandit. He is not molting right now but for some reason it seems as if he is chewing on his tail feathers. I have already found 2 that have been chewed off. Could there be a reason for this? His skin doesn't seem to be too dry or anything. And he only does it once in a while. It's taken a couple weeks for the 2 feathers I found. Thanks for any help, Amanda

Welcome and congrats on your new CAG!!! They are so much fun! Keep us posted.

-
thanks for the info. i found a nice new cage at a resonable price that i am looking at purchasing.
-
Thank you for the advice. I will be making a trip to town to buy birdie products.

I am looking at purchasing a new cage (the one I have belongs to a friend). What is the best cage material ie. powder coat, stainless steel, ect? I was also given a cage and it needs a little work. I have fixed the hazards but it has rust on it and needs a paint job. Is paint ok to us on the cage? Bandit is always hanging upside down on his cage and I don't want him ingesting anything harm full. If paint isn't a good idea is there any other ideas??
