I am taking Bandit to the vet tomarrow just to have her well check done. I am wondering are there any spacific questions that I should ask the vet? There doesn't seem to be any problems. I figured this is a good way to try and prevent any probs. Thank for your input in advance.

What are your favorite noises that your AG make?
bandits_mom08 replied to Brittany's topic in The GREY Lounge
I really like it when Bandit makes the kiss noise evertime she wants kisses. She just started this in the last two days. She also makes the purring noise when it is cuddle time. She usually starts making the noise around 8ish and last as long as the cuddles do. I am so happy she still likes to cuddle. I hear so many people saying their babys don't do this anymore. I think it is sad for them 'cause I enjoy every minute of it. -
that is sooo awsome!! It's always exciting when they say something new.

Thanks for the info on this. I was unaware of the need of red palm oil. I guess I get to make a trip to the store. How exactly do you feed it to your bird? Bandit does really well if I am eating it but, like her pellets, it has taken a while to get here to eat them instead of throwing them around. I don't really want to eat the red palm oil :pinch:

What does the red palm oil do??

From what I understand their body temps. are quite a bit highter than ours I think some where around, I want to say between 98-103(if someone knows exactly it would be great to know.). Beings there body temp is higher it won't feel quite as cold. I have been taking Bandit out in about 60-65 and we stay in the sun for the most part. I don't take her out if the wind is blowing. She seems to enjoy herself. If there is anyone who has a better idea on what temp to take them out in I would love to know too.

We are finally past the protest stage (not that there was much of one after she was used to the harness). She is also not chewing on the harness except when the leash gets in her way. I have now encountered another problem with the harness. We have spent much more time outside now that the weather has decided to turn nice, for the time being. We have gone to town and met friends for lunch and she gets to watch all of the camotion outside with us. She absolutlly loves it. Now when we are done outside and come back into the house or leave the places we have been at and go to take the harness off, the fight is on!! When we come into the house I take the harness off and she stays with me on my shoulder for a while before she goes to her cage. When we leave from having lunch I can't just let her roam around the car so she goes into her travel cage. She doesn't want to have it taken off. Does anyone have any ideas how to make this any easier??

Ooooh ok. now that you say this I have heard this before. thanks for the reminder!

Bandit has gotten a lot better about chewing on her harness. I just put her in it and take her immediatly outside. I took her to town with me the other day and met my dad at Jamba Juice (for those who don't know it's a place that makes fruit smoothies, mmmmmm). We sat outside and chatted and Bandit hung out and played with an extra straw and only tried to chew on her harness once and that was it. YEAH!!<br><br>Post edited by: bandits_mom08, at: 2009/03/08 05:56

What do you do with your bird on vacation?
bandits_mom08 replied to kridanpiper's topic in The GREY Lounge
Hello and welcome to the family!!! Depending on the vacation you could take your grey with you. Mine loves to go and visit people. She absolutly loves the car and is mad when she doesn't get to go. I have found that my AG just loves my grandpa. If I go on a vacation I can not take her on she stays with him. There are others out there whom, I am sure, do things different but, that is the great thing about this site. You learn different ways to deal with situations and take the one that works for you and your bird. As for staying home, I did not when I firts got my grey in Aug. 08. I was working full time and going to school. She was in a good routine with me in the mornings and at night. When my husband was home he would let her out of her cage. I am now off work for a few months and she is becomming spoiled even more than she was. I have had to start leaving her in her cage for a little while even when I was home because if I didn't I didn't get anything done. She was demanding all of my attention. Good luck on finding a Grey you will have sooo much fun and a friend for life. -
I know that if you are from Oregon and you come into California even with a valid I.D. they still make you pay taxes. Leave it to CA!!

I have had one question I have been pondering for quite some time now and I was hoping that some one may know the answer. I was wondering, do they see in color?? ADOPTING A OLDER GREY IS NOT THAT BAD!
bandits_mom08 replied to aglover09's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
I am glad to hear you 2 are getting along great!!! Sounds like Boo Bird has found an awsome home!! -
I am unsure of what you are talking about 'cause I have never seen this. But, I purchased the ceramic bowls. They seem to be to heavy for my TAG to move. I used to have the same problem with the metal bowls I had.

Soooo glad to hear you found your baby grey. This time of year the weather doesn't usually cooperate and is nasty. What a scary thing to think about, never seeing your grey again. So happy you found her!!!

To night after I put Bandit to bed I changed out of my shirt and noticed there were a couple little specs of blood on the back of my shirt. I imediatly got Bandit out of her cage and could not find any where she could be bleeding. She has acted fine all day. To night was the second night that I have sprayed her with aloevera juice. Her skin seems to be a bit dry. Any how, she did let me know that she wasn't happy about it but delt with it. I read some where that if they are to stressed out that they secreat blood. I have seen her more stresses when I put her back into her cage when I leave than she was tonight but, could this be a possibility??? I hope she is ok. I don't ever want her that stressed that she bleeds. she seems fine when I put her back into her cage she had a snack before perching for the night. Poop is normal. Am I over reacting?? I guess this could be something I got on my shit but I don't know what I could be. Thanks for any input.

I too warn my TAG. I have found that over time she has gotten used to me making lound and wierd noises. I used to not even be able to sneeze in the same room with out freaking her out Just give your grey a warning and time and she will come around. Good luck!!

I am so excited and had to share this!! Fially after 6 months of having my baby grey I finally found out that she's a girl!! This was a little shocking due to the fact that I have heard generally a female bonds with men and a male bonds with women and she doesn't think much of my husband when I am around. Not that this makes any difference I love her all the same. I do have one worry....will she lay eggs and what do I do if she does??? I do know she is still to young to worry about that but the concern is still there. I had a female tiel die because an egg broke inside her. It was horrable and I don't want my grey to meet the same fate. Thanks for any advice in advance

Hostlity: Unfortunantly Bandit has not been around as many people as I would like him to be but the one person he is very hostil towards is my brother. Any time my brother comes to visit and he gets within about 5 feet of Bandit and I it is guarantee that Bandit jumps and goes after him, squawkin' his head off, biting every bit of flesh he comes in contact with. Surprisingly he still comes to visit. My little guard bird hasn't ran him off yet! I do find it a bit funny. {Feel-good-0002006E} The last time my brother came over was the first time since I was adopted by Bandit (5 months) that he didn't get attacted.

Bandit has discovered the Q-tip. He seems to think it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Any time I am in the bathroom and he is with me he knows where they are kept and begs for one. He goes crazy with it. First he chews off the ends then throws it around, chews on it, then throws it around some more. How would have thought something sooo cheap could entertain them. especially with the way they price bird toys!!

definantly check out the home made toys forum. I got some ideas from there and made a couple myself and Bandit loves them!!!
