Hi Nickname, I would look around and see if there was anything that could have traumatized your grey while you were out. Did you leave him in front of a window where something, a cat or hawk might have been seen. Or perhaps something in the house that made an unfamiliar shadow that could have frightened him. Whatever the reason I too would cuddly and pet my grey as much as he needs to reasure him and help him get back on the right track.

Hey Carol, if your breeder is like mine, a person who really loves her greys and all her babies, that person will know the personality of each baby. So when you go to choose one, ask your breeder about the personality of each baby available for you to choose from and go from there. My Ana Grey chose me, she was the first to come to me and she came back to me after I had handled the other three. Everyone there agreed she wanted to come home with me. She is a lovely, cuddly little lady. We are bonded. She was DNA tested to be a female after I got her home.

I am trying to potty train my Ana Grey. I have a perch with crushed corn husks in the tray and I put Ana Grey there and tell her to go poo. She does go and if she can't she at least tries (which lets me know she understands). If she does go, I tell her what a great girl she is and praise her greatly.

I really like Keywe's playhouse. You are a great carpenter. If you didn't live on the other side of the lower 48 I would hire you to make one for my grey. I am impressed. Thanks for sharing this great idea with us!

Hi Carol, when my baby came home at 4 months, I had foot toys and medium size toys for her. She uses the same toys now. She is now 7 months old and is about the same size, she has only filled out some. I also buy baby toys for her. The big plastic chains or rings for babies and some dog toys. Cat plastic balls are great too, although because they have little bells in them that she might swallow, I only let my grey play with them in my presence and I check them all the time. I also buy practice golf balls for her, the plastic ones with holes in them. Some members buy legos for their greys. I hope this helps.

Sounds like your grey not only talks in his sleep but maybe also sleep walks!!!!!

I have oodles of pictures of Ana Grey, I suppose I could make a baby bird album. But I guess I already have one on my computer. :ohmy: I just haven't printed them! I guess I should. Thanks for the idea!!!

I have never heard of greys talking in their sleep, but I would love to hear it. How about a video, if you have a tripod, maybe????? I think that is fascinating. What does your grey say!

I use newspaper on the bottom of my grey's cage and on the tray of the playtop. For my grey's cage a typical newspaper's size is the exact size for the cage. What luck!!<br><br>Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2009/03/02 04:27

Brett, I put Ana Grey back in her cage when I want her there. I want her to both step up and be comfortable if I just pick her up. If someone else needs to pick her up in an emergency, I want her not to be afraid and cooperate. If I leave a room, I either pick her up or have her step up to put her into her cage. She goes back into her cage on her own also. I have no problem just picking her up. She is use to it. I love Ana Grey and try to respect her space, but she knows I am still the boss.

Hi Renate, I love the pictures of your daughter and Alex. I am not as brave as your daughter, I would be afraid Alex might bite her lip. Greys do have a wicked bite whether they mean it or not, and I am not brave enough to risk a hard bite and eventual scar. Your daughter is lovely and she and Alex certainly have bonded. Hi Fisher, I am a new grey owner, so I can only tell you what I have learned. My Ana Grey is a very loving little 6 month old. Some days she is all cuddly and some times she wants to be left alone. I leave her alone. Your baby needs some time to take in her new situation. Just like people our greys need alone time. So relax. Give her some space. Talk to her, offer treats and when she is ready, she will let you know. Congratulations on your new baby, enjoy!!!
