Just look at the tail, if it is red, than you have a Congo. I have a timneh and she is a little love muffin! Linda, please tell us more about your grey. Welcome to the Grey Family!
Ana Grey's breeder sent me home with a "goody bag" for her when I picked her up. It was full of homemade birdy bread, chopped vegetables and pellets. Ana Grey had food for a couple of weeks. She also gave me a journal of dos and don't and likes and dislikes. So I would ask your grey's breeder lots of questions about what your baby grey is eating. That's always a good place to start. Can't wait to hear how the homecoming goes!
Hi Brad. I commend you for taking in an older grey. Scooter is a lucky guy. I hope the avian vet can help with Scooter's eye and that he will be as right as rain. From your avatar, Scooter is a fine looking grey. Can't wait to see some pictures. Welcome to the Grey family!
This can all be straightened out if you will all go back and read the first line of a very old book. It starts, "In the beginning......" And look what we have all evolved into!!!! :woohoo: So even if Ana Grey's ancestors weighted 8 tons, she is my delicate little flower who gives me sweet kisses everyday!!!
What a handsome baby Archie is. I too would keep him under the circumstances. Glad you decided to join our grey family. I look forward to hearing more about Archie and his mom, Cher.
I can see the evil glint in Koko's eyes has he laughs at the ruckus he caused with his mischief. Thanks for a great laugh!!! Naughty Koko heh, heh, heh!
How far away from you is this breeder? If not too far and you really want this baby, can't you go see the bird and perhaps take it to a vet to see what is wrong. I don't know why this breeder wouldn't know what this baby is eating all he has to do is watch a couple of times. Without knowing more, I don't know how anyone even a long time breeder can help you without seeing the baby bird.
Just go up to the top of the page and go into "Forums" There you will see all the different rooms that compose up the Grey Forums. The Welcome/Introduction Room is the first room.
Karma to you Megan for taking in an older grey. Greys do sometimes choose a favorite but with patience and love other members of the family/household can have a comfortable relationship with their fid. What is your grey's name?
Hi groomroom, hopefully the crusty stuff was just food, certainly sounds like it. Why don't you introduce yourself in the Welcome Room and tell us a little more about your grey.
Ana Grey puts herself to bed by climbing into her cage and up to her sleep perch. She doesn't close the door though!!!! But I think she was literally, born in a barn!!!!  Great pictures of Avy, Dave.
Ash is just growing up. Open the door and let her decide whether to come out or not. Just like people some times our greys just "want to be alone." My Ana Grey only gets nuts when she comes out of her cage. If I say "want a nut" she can't get over to me soon enough. It's something we have done from day one.
I believe your new CAG was trying to let you know she accepted you as her flock. Let her out of her cage and just relax. If she tries to regurgitate and whimpers, ignore the gestures and distract her. Enjoy your new grey. There are many thread here about regurgitation and whimpering and oodles of other things greys do. Read, read, read!
