  1. Echo looks like my sweet Timneh, Ana Grey. Such a lovely TAG.
  2. Hey, hey. Nice to hear from you. Chili Pepper looks great. Looking forward to hearing more.
  3. Welcome Kilaya. Looking forward to following your adventures with Sanggay and family.
  4. Jeff, I believe some day you will also have a zon if you really want one. They are fascinating creatures.
  5. I am encouraged that Lulu will become more active. When I perched her on one of the perches in the front room window she flew to the kitchen were all three of the other parrots were. I am delighted that although the flying was burdened (compared to the flying skills of Ana Grey, Louie and Sterling Gris) she got to where she wanted to go; from the living to a kitchen trolley where the others were. Hopefully she will continue to want to be with the gang and strengthen her flying skils. Hooray!!
  6. I just pick up my TAG, Ana Grey, and put one hand over her back. She goes in easily. My CAG, Sterling Gris, I do the same. My male BF zon,Louie, I just put the cage lined up with his front door and ssay, "let's go" and he goes it. He knows a travel cage means "I get to go outside into the sun". (remember I cannot handle Louie). Lulu, female BF zon, I just ask to step up and in she goes. My gang love the sun. One thing you can do. Birds relate the dark to night and they do not normally move around in the dark. So darken the room and step up your parrot and then put said parrot into the travel cage. Because I live alone and have 5 birds I have to get outside in an emergency, I have worked on this technique for my own peace of mind.
  7. Susan, what a great parront you are. Prayers coming Roxy's way. Dave007 is simply the best and his advice is always the best. Be strong. Welcome to the Grey family.
  8. Hello Loco. So sorry for your loss. Where to you live so we can get an idea if any of us can help you. I live in the State or Washington, USA.
  9. I have 6 year old TAG, Ana Grey, whom I have had since she was 4 months old, and a 3 year old CAG, Sterling Gris, who has lived with me since he was 5 months old. I also have a re-homed Blue Front ZON, Louie, who is 6 years old who has lived with me since he was 1 1/2 years old and a Blue Front ZON, Lulu, who is 33 years old, who has lived with me since July 1 or so. My greys beak each other politely now and then. My zons do not interact at all. My parrots do not interact all together at all. If one wants to be where another is they fly there and the other leaves. They do follow each other around my home from bird room to kitchen to living room. My greys and Louie the zon are fully flighted and go here and there at will. Lulu I believe was cage bound so is just trying to fly so it is hit and miss for her. I am very confident that my parrots can cohabitate together however I do keep an eye on them to be on the safe side. My TAG, who was my first parrot can be a stinker if she wants. I had to re-home an older ekkie because she dived bombed him every chance she got and I do have a male canary that I have to keep in his cage when she is out because she will peck at him with no mercy. So I guess the answer is if their personalities are compatible it can be done. You just need to give it a try. If they cannot get alone do you have the time to take them out of their cages at different times.
  10. I have been taking Lulu my 33 year old re-homed BF zon on launching flights. I launched her toward the living room window perch and she turned before she got there and flew back to me onto my chest. I was so surprised and excited for her effort. Way to go Lulu. You are a survivor you old lady. I am delighted I added you to my flock!
  11. Ahh Dave, you forgot to tell us what your greys smell like. Come on, give it up!
  12. What is your amazon's name? I recently acquired a 33 year old Blue Front Amazon named Lulu. She is quiet like your zon. Lulu is a good eater and luckily her owners who got her when she was 2 have had her on a good diet and she is healthy and weight appropriate. Unfortunately they did not interact with Lulu very much and she is not much of a talker and does not fly. She has launched herself off her cage at least once to follow my three other parrots who are all excellent flyers. Hopefully they will encourage Lulu to try and fly more. I do perch Lulu on my arm and launch her off toward a hanging perch or a couch to cause her to flap her wings and at least exercise them some in anticipation of future flight. Hopefully this exercising will help Lulu to be able to fly vrey soon. I can only hope.
  13. Hi Tom and Timmy, welcome to the Grey family. Nice photo of the two of you. Timmy sounds like a fun grey. The hiss is probably a show of displeasure about going back into his cage and you are lucky as a screeching would be much more unpleasant.
  14. Was looking at the Facebook Aviator Bird Harness post and saw Dave007's grey's flying photo. The one he uses for his Avatar here. I truly love that flighted photo and I guess so does Aviator Bird Harness people.
  15. Very nice post about these two rescues' lives. Thank you for taking them in and giving them a safe place.
  16. My parrots go into each other cages, but never when the owner is in it. The parrots see the other and their cage and seem to be alright with it. All I have to say is "get out of there" and the culprit immediately gets out. They also come to me for treats always Ana Grey, tag, first then Sterling Gris, cag. The zons wait for me to give them treats. they are more polite. My gang do have a pecking order.
  17. How about my Sterling Gris who wolf whistles at the young wife next door as she mows the lawn.
  18. Old metal measuring spoons might be indestructible and would made a soft clanging sound. My cag also loves to swing on his cage swing.
  19. Hi to you and Gizmo. Looking forward to learning more about him and seeing some pictures!
  20. If you all remember, I at one time also had an older male Eclectus parrot. He is at least older than 15 years that I can account for as he was a rehomed parrot. My timneh, Ana Grey, my first parrot hated him and would unmercifully dive bomb him and peck at him whenever he was out of his cage. Very hateful. Sully did "love" me. He would run is tongue up my arm. I gave Sully away to my neighbors who love him to pieces and spoil him to bits. If you recall I posted about how Sully after he had been with his new home for a while walked over to me up to my shoulder and kissed me on the cheek and then walked back climbed up his new owner's shoulder and proudly cuddled his neck. Priceless. It to me it was his way of thanking me for loving him enough to make sure he was safe and happy. Anyway, back to my thread. I always wondered if it was Sully's color (beautiful bright green) or that he was male or that he was older, or what??? Why did Ana Grey hate him so much. Well, I have two very bright and colorful zons (gorgeous green). All my other parrots (3) are male. I have an older zon (33 years old). So what about Sully, the eclectus, did Ana Grey dislike. He is not sickly as his new owners spoil him to pieces. He was been to an avian vet also and he is just fine. Sully never bothered Ana Grey, never went to her cage nothing. I did not show him more attention than her. So why the hate. Any ideas???? Anyone....... I just would love to have an answer to this mystery or just an idea of why.....
  21. Nice post and Happy Hatchday Inara.
  22. Lulu and Louie after an afternoon in the sun. All four parrots were misted and loved it. Lulu's former owners said she hated to be misted/sprayed. Wrong she was very receptible. I consider myself very lucky as I have a 6-year-old male amazon who tries very hard to do as I ask and a 33-year-old female amazon who is very sweet. No squawking or screeching (well maybe just one or two in the am to clear the pipes). I believe very strongly that being calm and assured has a lot to do with how our parrots react. My parrots all four of them watch me and my reaction which I believe has a lot to do with how they react in return. Body language: if a person is tense and hurried our parrots react the same as they are unsure of how the human will react so they are on guard. Relax and enjoy and so will your birdies.
  23. Four parrots and not one will eat meat. All vegetarians I guess. Occasionally give a chicken bone to see if anything has changed and I clean them off the cage floor every time.
  24. Happy Hatch Day Inara. Today's your day and you can do anything you want!!!!!
