1. Put the mail in their in tray and let them decide what to do.
You find a parrot, that is obviously plucking and underfed with old scars on its skin. Do you
1. Post an ad in the newspaper to find the owner
2. Take the parrot to an avian vet and then just keep it
Congrats to Harvey, Jill finally was quiet long enough for you to get a word in edgewise!!!! Way to go Harvey!!! :silly: This is great news Jill, I know you are elated!
Oh so glad you extended the time of entry as I had my 8 month old/5 month grandson this weekend. (If you remember my newest grandson was born premature at only 2 lbs. 10 ozs. Anyhow, he is now 18 lbs. in weight.) So I didn't get to work on the Amazon challenge. but now I can get busy on it. Hooray!

Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2010/03/15 22:56
Oh I hope you can figure out the picture posting problem soon. I would love to see your sweet Kopi. Are you using photobucket.com?Anywho, It sounds like Kopi is totally open to being a part of your family. So you should relax and enjoy him, Dee.
 Harvey certainly has your number Jill, he knows how to get one-on-one time with you. He is quite a smarty pants. Be calm, you can certainly outsmart this little 1 1/2 old!!!!
Glad to hear that Taco seems to be A-okay now. My grey sometimes does a little squat when she wants to relax and "hang loose". If you are concerned I would ask your avian vet. Do you have any pictures of Taco to share, we would love to see them.
What a lovely post Jay. You lurkers should also know that having a grey or any bird is not a requirement for joining and participating in the forum. Just a love of greys or other birds. I hung around and posted for two months before I brought my fid home. It was one of the most fun and educational times I've had in a long time. So come on down, we would love to meet you!
Congrats on your greys graduating out of the nursery. You know your fids very well. As for the plucking. Have you tried spraying the tails with aloe vera juice. I have a re-homed eclectus who is a terrible plucker and I find if I spray him he plucks less. The aloe vera is also very soothing. I look forward to seeing Willow and Cleo and the Grey Lounge.
Well Jill, sounds like Harvey is a very spirited grey and has oodles of self-confidence and that is a tribute to you. Have you tried not giving treats or other edible things outside the cage and only put them in the cage when you need to get Harvey back in. I know all I have to say is "Ana Grey, want a nut?" and she comes flying. I always clean and supply my fids water and food dishes before their bed time and they both have no trouble heading for their cages at bedtime. Good luck and hang in there!
When you find the right fid Jess, you will know. When I found Sully my re-homed eclectus, I just had to re-home him he was so unhappy. My quiet home is so such more to his liking than the large and noisy pet store he was in. So just go out and look and follow your heart, you'll do the right thing when the time comes.
Those are great pictures of your little flock Jay, all giving the other a helping hand!
So what kind of bird are you going to add to your family Jess??
