I also would see that Ollie was back inside his cage at night. You never know what could happen during the night. I always feed my fids there nuts and seeds at bed time. It insures they voluntarily go back into their cages at night. Good luck!

Welcome Strauss. What have you named your grey? First of all, I would say, relax. Greys are sensitive to emotions so if you are nervous so will your grey be. Are you and your grey the only two in your home? Where is your grey's cage in contrast to the most active area of the home? A little more background please and maybe we can better help you.

Congratulations on becoming Diva's new parront Teresa Ann, she is lucky to have found you. Taking things slow and at Diva's pace is certainly the way to go. And you are right, depriving her of food is unjust punishment. Please keep pellets in her cage at all times. I have one bowl in Ana Grey's cage just for pellets and I check in daily to make sure it is full of pellets. As others have said fresh vegetables and fruits should be removed after a time as just as our food spoils so do our bird's left out meals. I give my birds fresh vegs and fruits in the AM and in see that dried fruits and veggies are in her cage for the night time. I use seeds and nuts as a snack in the PM to entice Ana Grey back into her cage for night time. I look forward to hearing more about Diva as she sounds like a very interesting little character.

Hi Linda, very nice introduction to Dante and your family. There are some "sticky" threads in the Grey Lounge Room that address clipping vs. non-clipping. Please give them I read before you make a decision about clipping Dante. This is a personal decision for everyone but it is nice to be informed about the pros and cons. When I first re-homed my older ekkie he would squawk a lot. Whenever he started squawking I would sing to him from wherever I was and it would calm him down (either that or him thought I sounded so terrible he stopped squawking just to shut me up ). So talk to your grey and see if you can re-direct his interests.

This is a fear of mine also. I have food and pet ownership and vet records close at hand. I also have emergency dry food stuffs and water already in my Jeep. My pets travel cages and harnesses and leashes are also very accessible. Also remember you can also pop your fids into pillowcases as carriers if you are really desperate for a quick pet carrier. Great reminder that we need to be prepared!
