Gizmo looks quite content with his new and spacious cage. Good choice!!!! Great pictures of Gizmo enjoying his new abode!!!

Eshana, excellent thing to do. My first grey was a baby and my next two parrots are re-homed. Quite a different personality for all of them.

Hi Zoom, thank you for posting about Kazoo. I would love to see a picture or two, if you get a chance. I re-homed my 3 year old Louie, BFA, about 6 months ago and he is a joy to have around. His previous owner told me he was wild, he wasn't handled after the husband became ill and was basically locked outside. He tries very hard to try to come to me, but he is still very leery so I have been very patient with letting him move at his own pace. He is out of his cage most of the day and is a VERY big wood chewer. He has destroyed most of the wooden parrot toys in the bird room and luckily is not a molding chewer. I buy him lots of baby plastic toys at the local thrift shop to keep his beak busy. I have made him a couple of nuts and bolts toys that he can unscrew in a flash. He is always busy!!! I find my zon to be a much busier parrot than my grey or ekkie, so he is the one that I buy toys for.

Very nice toy! I might give it a try!

That is quite lovely Ray P. I wish I could understand my Louie better. Thank you for voicing the questions I also have.
-
Oh dear, that is a baby grey. Please let Dave007 help you with information on how to properly care for him. In my opinion, you couldn't get better help or information from anyone else.

What great looking pictures of Amigo!!!!! My grey likes to sit on my computer screen also. I have covered the top and back with cloth to catch the droppings and protect my computer wires.
-
The inside dimensions of the cages I have for my medium size parrots are 32"x 23" x 37". Amply room for my grey and zon. I believe width is more important than height so they can spread their wings. Of course, bigger is always better if you have the room!!!!
-
Printed out some tickets also. Sorry Judy but I want that quilt too. I would love to see a member of the Greyforums become the lucky keeper of this beautiful and meaningful Juno's Ring of Life.

I don't have my CAG, Isabella, yet but I have a feisty TAG in Ana Grey. At bedtime, I always put fresh nighttime snacks into their front door bowls. Mostly to lure them back into their cages for sleeping. I always start with my ekkie because he is usually the only one always in his cage (even though his cage door is open). I then get Louie's bowl and take it into the kitchen for cleaning. When I come back, Ana Grey is in Sully's snack bowl stealing his pecans. Out she is forced to go, little monster!! I load up Louie the zon's bowl with snacks and tell him "nite nite and head for Ana Grey's snack bowl to clean in the kitchen. I come back and.... you guessed it... Ana Grey is in Louie's snack bowl stealing his pecans!! This time of course she comes out on her own (clutching a pecan, of course). No wonder Ana Grey is the hardest to get into her cage at sleep time, she has already fulled up on everyone else's treats, little thief!!!! What I don't understand is why these big guys (they are both twice her size) let her steal their favorite snacks!!!!

Cage looks good. And your home looks lived in as all homes with warmth and love do.
-
Congratulations to you and Rocky!!! Can't wait to see Rocky fully feathered!!! Fingers crossed for him and toes too!!!
-
Awwww Shelby is adorable!!!! What kind of a cockatiel is he?
-
This is the tail of my TAG, Ana Grey. It is kind of red yes. Not like a CAG but I believe it is cute!!! It's hard to get a picture showing she is a TAG and also her tail as she is flighted and her wings cover her tail.

Thanks oodles for this thread Ray, I have been waiting to hear how you and Cricket got to know each other. It's a heartwarming story and shows that it takes love and patience to build trust between our parrots and us!!! Treats are a great way to get things started but I agree not the way to build a long and warm relationship! You must post more about Cricket. Amazons are just as smart as greys, and for some reason I feel more warm and fuzzy around Louie than my grey. He wants so much to be loved.

LOL Penny, my TAG, Ana Grey is very feisty and loves dropping anything on the floor. She opens twist top jars and tupperware lids to get at the nuts inside. Look out peanut butter if I leave it out!!!! Ana Grey knows the words, "Get out of there" very well and uses them all the time!!!! She knows when she is bad!!! Ana Grey weighs 298 grams. I am really looking forward to getting my CAG, Isabella. I believe I won't get a moment's rest with two mischief makers in the home. As for coloring, Ana Grey is a very dark grey and has a more red tail than maroon. Though not anything like a CAG!!!!

I take my parrots outside in their wire travel (large size) cages. Sully my ekkie, loves his travel cage more than his everyday cage to be honest, he climbs in it all the time. Ana Grey knows she gets to go outside if she gets in her travel cage, she enjoys the outside also. In the late spring and summer I spray my parrots when they are outside they seem to enjoy the sunlight and sun drying out. On the note that they were born indoors, well so was I and I would hate it if I never got to go outside in the sunlight. Everyone enjoys change to a degree why would our parrots/animals be any different as long as the experience is introduced in the right way. I got Louie my zon in the fall so I am looking forward to seeing how he reacts to the sunlight, he does love to sit on his perch in the window so I think he will like it a lot!!!!

Ray, this is a great thread. You are so intuitive and I am so enjoying this thread. Ana Grey does some "tricks". It just happened, more or less. I offer my hand and say "shake" Ana Grey will raise her foot and clutch my finger so I can shake it. If I touch my chest and say "come here" she flies to me. (I use to give her nuts for coming to me. I no longer do that unless she asks for one.) She gives me kisses on my cheek all on her own now. Our greys are so wonderful, all we have to love them and they respond unconditionally!!!

Great adventure!!!! I loved it!!!! Can't wait to join Prince on his next outing!!!!!

I have a birdroom for my birds so they are out all day. I am retired. They have always slept in their everyday cages which are in the birdroom and they can come and go as they please all day. Their everyday cages are closed at night time so everyone can feel safe and cozy in their own home. The travel cages, each has their own, are for vet trips, emergency evacuations, for outside time and visiting with the family.

Eva has said that I can have Isabella now if I want to continue with the nightly feedings. Frankly, I'm not really interested in doing this as I don't really believe in amateurs handfeeding baby greys; and I truly am an amateur. Isabella is not even 3 months old yet, dob 12/20/10, so I am skeptical of doing this. Eva says Isabella eats well and is probably only wanting the nightly feeding because the other babies (younger) are getting fed.

Thanks Stephen! She certainly is a cutie and I understand very sweet and loving.

I use my travel cages for when I visit my daughter and take my parrots. They work great because they are roomy. So I believe this type of travel cage would be acceptable for a sleep cage as well. http://www.thecountryroost.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=28_29&osCsid=0216ed153f5d2ecbcc2014e5ff7493ef

Love the pictures of Chili!!!! I am totally envious of your beautiful weather!!! I wish I could put a harness on Louie, the Zon, but alas, will have to be happy with a travel cage outing!!!!! Your pictures are wonderful and Chili is enjoying the outdoors!!!!! Priceless!!!

Ana Grey plays very little with her toys she is too busy flying around and pestering the other fids!!! She loves to interact with me and ask for apples and nuts. At least twice a day she runs through her words and practices them. So at 2 1/2 years she hasn't hit the boredom mode and I'm not worried about it!!!! Enjoy the fact that your grey can entertain herself and enjoys life to the fullest!!!
