  1. Jeff that is Ana Grey, my TAG, who will be three next month. She weighs in at around 300g and Sterling, the CAG, is already, now that he is not eating formula , at 505g.
  2. Thank you for the update on Tumba. I wish all the best for him that his life will be happy and healthy.
  3. I use newspaper cause my parrots do not go to the bottom of their cages.
  4. I would say probably the corn cob bedding. When I first got my grey, I have a large container full of corn cob stuff to catch the poop in under Ana Grey's boing. I had moths pop up in that room and so quickly got rid of the corn cob stuff and with it the moth problem.
  5. Congratulations Kazoo!!! I am just thrilled for both of you! My our birds, they never cease to amaze us!!!!
  6. Well hello Stress David!!!! Please tell us a little more about yourself. Are you owned by an African Grey or thinking about one? Details please! And Welcome to the forum!!
  7. Great pictures, Sanggay!!! Your birdies are all so lovely and you are a great photographer!!!!! Thanks for sharing your artistry with us, fantastic!!!
  8. Hi CeeCeeNy, welcome to the Grey family. As to your questions, I have a female grey and she loves me all to pieces and yes, I am a female. As for a rescue or baby, it all depends on what you know ab out parrots. Personally, if you are unfamiliar with greys, I would go with a young grey what hasn't all that baggage Judy was talking about, because its true they do remember what has happened to them and carry it forward. I have a re-homed amazon who still will not let me touch him. I also believe purchasing from a breeder is the best, if you can find one in your area. They usually so love their babies! I commend you for researching about greys before purchasing one, they are intelligent and loving creatures and so worth the effort!
  9. I give my fids safflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and cracked corn. I also crack a walnut and leave it in their bowl to work on when I am not around. I don't let them have sunflowers seeds. I give them dehydrated vegetables so I can leave it in all day. As for the screaming, have you tried turning on the radio for your fids while you are out/gone from the room.
  10. Welcome to the Grey family sixx! Looking forward to seeing some pictures of your baby (hint, hint) Is your baby a Congo or a Timneh?
  11. I don't believe I will every get an adorable picture like that from my gang!!!! I am jealous, how precious!!!!
  12. So we are back from the avian vet!!!!! Sterling Gris passed with flying colors and the vet and tech are in love with him. His new vet asked if I was sure he was only 4 months today. I said yes. She said if she didn't know that she would have said he as at least a couple of months older. So it is confirmed. Sterling Gris is a big and healthy guy. The micro-chipping went well with no problems. If you remember, when Ana Grey was chipped I refused to let them sedate her. It is now proper form that there is no longer sedating done for micro-chipping! Hooray.
  13. Albert certainly is a cutie. As for him eating on the bed, it might be cute now but he will grow up. Reminds me of when the kids were little and I got them a Great Dane puppy. Such a cute little thing that they loved to let sit on their backs and across them laps when it was little. I told them, Paper Boy, will grow up to weigh around 150 lbs, remember that. Well guess what happened when a few months later the kids didn't want this huge "puppy" sitting on their backs or across their laps at 75 lbs!!!! As for eating in his cage while you are at work/gone. Always see that pellets and other foods are in Albert's cage. If he gets hungry, he will eat, believe me!!!!!
  14. Well hello Scooter!!! I look forward to hearing a lot more about you and getting to know you!!!! Love our zons!!!!
  15. I have this problem, just a little different. Ana Grey is almost 3 years old and I have had she since she was 4 months old. She is my sweetheart and we are very close. Louie my BF zon is a re-home that I have had for 10 months now. He is three years old. He and Ana Grey still do not see eye-to-eye. Ana Grey is very jealous and dive bombs Louie whenever they are in my office together. Louie use to just ignore her but now he has begun to retaliate when they are in my office. Funny thing is, that when they are in the bird room they do not fight. I watch them very closely and never leave them alone. Ana Grey is a TAG and only weighs in at 303 grams and Louie is much larger. I don't know if they would really hurt each other, and I don't want to find out!
  16. Hi Samy, I certainly can relate to your problem. Your hubby loves Ziggy and your family believes in commitment to their pets as they do their human family. I have a re-homed BF amazon who is 3 years old who will not let me touch him without trying to nip at me. He is also flighted and has never been clipped. I have had him for 10 months and he still does not totally trust me. I have a blood condition that requires that I am very careful about infections and cuts. So parrot bites are something I do not wish to encounter. I love Louie to death and I know he wants to be my friend; he is just afraid so we go at his pace. Louie is very active and very bold and very, very smart. Louie tries very hard to understand what I want him to do. With a little hit and miss we have worked out a workable way to get what we both want. To be friends and live harmoniously. Louie will now go back into his cage with a "nite, nite, Louie get into your cage". It took awhile with a lot of visual showing and lots of simple talking but now Louie and I know what each of us wants. So be patient, do lots of talking and going with your instincts to show Ziggy what you want. For now until Ziggy is more comfortable around your children, I would limit their interaction to him being in the cage and the children just talking to him from the side, without reaching into his cage. Hubby will have to get his own things for now and if Ziggy is out of his cage. I am assuming that your husband is verbally telling Ziggy "no" or that's not nice" when he is unkind to others. Our fids/greys are very smart you just have to show them and tell them so they can understand. Just like you have to learn to understand their body language. Believe me, they are so worth the patience.
  17. Great video of Marcus and his boing! To me and my gang this is probably the best parrot toy ever made!!!! Way to go Marcus!!!
  18. Yes both Louie and Ana Grey have decided that Sterling is the enemy and love to dive bomb him. Funny thing is that when I am feeding Sterling his evening formula. He still loves to have it although he is eating other foods very well. Ana Grey quietly sits on my shoulder and just watches me feed Sterling and when Sterling is done she quietly says, "want some" and takes a bite or two. Its like Ana Grey knows that although she doesn't like Sterling he is a baby and so does not interfere in this one thing I do with him.
  19. Ranaz, always ready and willing to show off my babies: Bluefishburley, I certainly know how you felt! I was so terrified that I would break Sterling Gris' wing when I was trying to manipulate him out of his predicament. Luckily he didn't clamp down with his bites and he wasn't pissed of at me. He was all cuddly and very happy to be safe and free!
  20. I can not find my older threads except of the last 10 that I started. Is it all going on to storage perhaps????
  21. Robin and Gwen your posts give me a big smile and a hearty laugh!!!! LOL!!! It would be a very lonely day without my birdies that's for sure!!! Marybeth, I found the cargo net on the internet three years ago!!! I don't remember where and can't find it now. Sorry.
  22. Thank you for the update Julie!!!! You are missed around the old Grey Family you know!!! Love the news of Beau and Argyle, I think of them all the time so please don't with stingy with information on your babies!!!! LOL!!!
  23. It is not required that you owned by a grey, or any bird for that matter to be a member of the Greyforums. I was here and participated in the discussions and posted threads for two months before I got my Ana Grey. So Paul you can't get rid of us that easily! You are a member of the Grey Family and when you and Murphy are reunited we all want to say Hooray and celebrate with you! So have faith and trust that the right things will happen in Murphy's and your lives.
  24. Congrats on Harley. Hopefully the new and friendly environment will encourage Harley to no longer pluck. Fingers crossed for your new sweet birdie.
