1. Her name is Hershey. The breeder named her that because she is sweet and gives lots of kisses. Endless kisses some nights! I decided to keep the name since it fits her personality. Your going to have a blast! By the way the pictures are adorable!!

Post edited by: tarnold, at: 2008/08/04 22:17
2. Hershey does this all the time, mostly when she is on her play stand but has a bad habit of jumping on my head and doing it. I dont like her up there but sometimes I dont realize thats where she is headed until it's to late. She does not seem upset when she is doing it, I think it's more out of excitement. Funny thing is my Tiel never did it until Hershey started.
3. Hershey is 4 1/2 months old also and says hello, pretty bird, and whatcha doin.

I noticed Hershey doing that when I scratch her head. It kinda freaked me out the first time I saw it. Thought maybe I brought home a drug addict!
5. Hershey is usually very vocal in the mornings, not so much in the afternoon but gets very vocal in the evening. I think it's because thats when I am home. It's amazing how much they pick up in a short period of time. In 2 weeks she says Hello, Pretty bird, Whatcha doin, and various whistels and other noises. She also sounds just like my Tiel at times. It's awsome just to sit and listen to her. She only has 1 high pitched screetch that makes my head hurt but dosent do it very often now that I dont respond to it.
6. Hi Satchel and welcome. It's good your doing your homework. I have Tiels also and just got my first grey 2 weeks ago. Very different world and very rewarding. Your in for a lot of fun!
7. Hello Raiderbabe! Welcome to the forum. I'm new to Greys myself so I cant be much help but I believe there is section under The Nursery called bringing your grey home that was very helpful to me. The folks here have also been a huge help when I cant find what I am looking for:)
8. Thanks Lyric, good to know it may not be me doing something wrong
9. Dont know why it posted 3 times. Sorry guys!
10. Again thanks for all the input folks. I have tried to figure it out. I'm thinking maybe she saw a shadow from the night light hitting one of her toys and it spooked her. I'm new to greys and still trying to get used to the moods and differences I see in them compared to my Tiels. For instance last night she seemed to be in a foul mood(no pun intended). She actullay tried to bite me twice. She has only been with me a little over a week so i'm sure she is still trying to get use to things. I try and keep from introducing her to too many things all at once. It's a break in process for both of us I guess. It was a little discouraging because I want the best for her and want to be sure she is a happy bird. Worried I did something to create the mood change.
11. Finally a bird I know something about! When I adopted Elvis he came with a very small cage. After about 4 weeks I bought him a much bigger cage. I couldn't stand to see him all crambed up in his original one. He turned into a devil bird at first but eventually got use to it. It took about 6 weeks before he was acting normal again(he's still a devil  ). I would just give him time and keep familiar items around him.

:woohoo: What a great topic
13. I have my Tiel which is across the room from her but he was already asleep. I also have 2 dogs but they were not in the same room. It has not happened since so I am hoping it was a 1 time thing. Thanks for the responses Casper!
14. Hi Elozano and yayo! Welcome. Great pics!
15. Dumb question, is it normal to lose down feathers at 4 months old? I find them around Hersheys cage, not a lot by any means but I find a few on a daily basis.
16. Hello Veronique and welcome. This is a great place for information!
