  1. I ordered a license plate a couple of weeks ago from CJ'sexoticbirdsupply.com. After not hearing back for a while, I wrote and asked about delivery. CJ wrote back indicating her husband had died and she was behind in her orders. I told her not to worry and get to it when she can. She then wrote back saying she appreciated that I didn't yell at her (hmmmm - I wonder what kind of customers she has). At any rate, turns out she was out of stock. She got in touch with another dealer, who then sent out the license plate frame that I wanted. She went to a great deal of trouble when she could have just apologized and said it was no longer in stock. I was really impressed with her. So, to share the joy..... CJ is offering a 10% discount off products from her site for those who are interested. Just key in "greyforums.net" in the code and the discount will be applied. This may not be good towards some cages or playstands. I'm not sure that this is appropriate to put here, but please forgive me if this is taboo.
  2. I've definately behind the times. In the short time I've been here, I've read oodles of your messages and advice. You will be missed.

  4. Hey Kitty, Sorry to hear about the fibro. I know that is very painful.
  5. Whether or not Pilates hurt depends on what kind of class the instructor is teaching. For mat, it could be a breathing class, a reminder of the basics, or a kick a** class! With only one class, you probably didn't get a chance to work out for your potential. My private classes pushed me to do more every class. Of course if you are in top physical condition, you may be exhausted after a class, but not too sore.

    Meet Jack

    He's beautiful! How did you get him to stay put and not fly away from the pumpkins?
  7. Sammy is beautiful. I'm so glad it worked out that it was the same bird! Aren't rescues wonderful? We have one here in town (a rescue and sanctuary) -- Their house is also full of birds - mostly larger ones, and then down the road a bit, another house that keeps the cockatoos and the small birds. They have about 80 birds total. Some will stay in the sanctuary forever. You are so wonderful to have adopted Sammy. Go win that lottery!
  8. I bought the hut at Windycityparrots.com. They are fabulous to work with. Within 10 minutes you get a reply that they have your order. Another few minutes and it is packed and shipped. Incredible service. Plus look for coupons on the main page. The only down side with this particular purchase is that I thought I was getting the color shown on the link below. Instead of Teal/cream I got Blue/pink. In case the link doesn't work for you, order a size Jumbo. Prevue Pet 1165 Birdie Bedtime for Birds Parrots Ferrets - Jumbo Snuggle Sack http://www.windycityparrot.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=12401102003&Category_Code=winter&Product_Count=8
  9. I also wondered about that. Thanks for the info Dan!
  10. Congratulations! Skye was one of the names I considered before naming Darcy. It's funny, because when I thought he was female, I named him Emma and he just looked like a little Emma. I had a hard time deciding on a name....Good luck.
  11. What a sweetie-pie! Isn't it funny when you feel so proud they can finally perch{Nature-000200C9}
  12. It may be that Darcy only goes in there during the day at times and sleeps on his boing. I need to determine a way to be able to check that. Unfortunatly, I always find him climbing over to be next to the door when I get up in the morning. It's good advice about the loose threads. I'll have to go in and check that out. Thanks for the advice.
  13. I think Darcy goes in it at night, but I can't be sure because I do cover his cage at night -- so he is out on a perch when I put on the cover, and then by the time I take it off, he's out of it again. Casper, there is a great big one large enough for Macaws -- they could cuddle together. It took Darcy a long time before he would perch all night long -- he liked his blankies:lol: .
  14. Because it's getting colder, I purchased a sleep hut for Darcy -- his cage is next to the wall that is all windows and while the room is the warmest in the summer, it is also the coldest in the winter. I was so proud of him. I wasn't sure he would explore the hut, so I started out putting a few toys in there. He would stick his head in and look. I ended up having to put a perch closer to the hut so he could really look inside. Once there he took each toy and threw it out. I had cut a piece of flannel to line the bottom, and he threw that out too. Then he finally tried it. Here are a series of shots!
  15. thanks for the explanation! As a newbie, I've wondered about this as well.
  16. I like Miya! Unusual and special meaning.
  17. fantabulous picture! Where did he get it? Or better yet, if we all knew where you lived, we could 'borrow' it. {Feel-good-0002006E}
  18. What a great idea. I'm sure you'll have lots of success because your toys are so professional looking. I would make up several of each in advance though, so that you would have them to ship out right away. Folks don't seem to like to wait for items. Let me know when your site is up -- I'll buy some. I make my own now for Darcy, but yours looks too nice to pass up.
  19. Hi Stephanie, I don't have an open play room for Darcy (4 months old), but his cage is a double macaw cage and is approximately 73" high. During the first few weeks, I had to put blankets down to soften the falls. Darcy is much better now, but I have lots and lots of perches for him to choose from. Now he practices turning in circles from the top of the cage upside down, but fell yesterday. Depending on how old your Timneh is, you may want to experiment a bit first to see how well your baby does on climbing. Darcy loves his ladder and boing. Can you place something on the floor underneath him so if he falls, he won't get hurt? Maybe an old mattress and cover it with an old towel or sheet? I'm a newbie just like you, so I would listen closely to others comments!
  20. Glad you made it home finally. Hospitals can be scary....I'm sorry you had some complications. Patsy
  21. When I went to Paris this year, I did let my bank know the time period I would be there and to anticipate charges on my accounts. I would have been crushed if the bank had arbitratily closed my credit card!!!!
