1. Here in the states most vets recommend your bird being vaccinated for avian polyoma virus but if you own just one bird or have had all your birds for a while and do not take them around other birds then I wouldn't worry about it. Personally I have just Roscoe my Cag and I decided against the shot for him because he will not be around other birds and plus I work for my vet and I would know when it was safe to take him to work for a yearly checkup so I would not have to worry about other birds there to pass anything to him.
2. Oh man hubby turned the vaccum on for the first time around Roscoes cage and that is the sound he made and there was no way to calm him down we just had to wait it out until he was over his scared fit. I felt so bad for him getting that scared but hubby said we shouldn't try to change anything we do just not to scare Roscoe and I gotta agree he has to get use to our daily routine.
3. Hey Marcia!! I hope you are feeling much better now and hope to hear more from you
4. Welcome to the forum of grey lovers and we cannot wait to see pictures of your new baby
5. I have both and I by far love the aviator much better. I think all those buckles are just too heavy and uncomfy for the bird and IMO it was a pain to put on and the aviator was so easy and light weight for the bird to wear.
6. Norm where did you purchase your aloe water for Gandalf? I honestly would love to see in the next pictures of Gandalf his harness on. I wouldn't want to be reading of another grey that lost its way home Please be safe when taking him outside. He sure is a gorgeous grey:kiss:
7. Thanks Dan I knew of people drinking it but this is the first I have heard of using it on greys feathers...interesting;)

Post edited by: Cagal08, at: 2008/08/21 01:52
8. Alfie is very handsome indeed
9. I am sorry but I am not familiar with what this Aloe vera juice is used for?
10. Thanks LovemyGreys I wasn't aware there was another thread....so sorry. Yea I know Roscoes weight will level out when he gets weaned and I have been around alot of grey babies but he just seems really large to me and I sent the breeder photos and told her how big he is and she confirmed that he should be a good size grey being he is a male and his parents are a good size. No matter what size he is I love him in every way forever;)
11. Just curious but how long has this breeder been breeding birds? I know you are excited about your baby coming home and I am in no way coming down on you at all but that is unsanitary as Judy stated and to me this shows poor breeding ethics on the breeders part. That formula looks like it has been dried on there a long time ( seriously) I would get that baby checked out by an avian vet as soon as you get him/her home. I am just shocked that a breeder would let the babies get in that shape I love the name you have chosen for your Cag Sorry I just couldn't hold my tounge.

Post edited by: Cagal08, at: 2008/08/20 16:14
12. Well I knew Roscoe was a fairly large Cag and I honestly got to say I have not weighed him in a week but I noticed everytime I hold him he gets heavier each day so I weighed him on my bird gram scale and he is 575 grms. Now he is only 10 weeks old so I am now really thinking he is going to fill out nicely when he is fully mature. What is your Cags weight?
13. Thank you lovemyGreys , oh yes we are going to let Roscoe tell us when he is ready to wean. I wouldn't ever dream of rushing a grey through weaning
14. Thank you Judy and yes he has a blue/violet color to his feathers even with no flash. I think I posted about it in another thread but I guess instead of the red factor he has the blue/violet factor ...ROFL.
15. He is almost fully feathered and not almost weaned LOL! He is one of the men in my life that I will love and treasure until my end of time. He is such a joy and makes me smile everyday. Anyone without a grey in your life you are truely missing out on a fabulous pet bird
16. Just like everyone else has said be patient and he will come around and learn you are his friend. It sounds like to me that Charlie was handfed and then put back in the cage and not messed with at the store , which is very common in pet stores. Most home based breeders handle their birds more because they have the time. Greys are super intellegent and don't forget too much so take things slow with Charlie and don't rush him into wanting to be handled. Patience pays off eventually.
17. Congrats I know you will do just fabulous:)
18. Yes those fresh baby nails are torture. I plan to bring home my drimmel tool and get Roscoes nails smoothed down a bit;)
19. Awwww what a shame she seems to be in good bird spirits despite having no feathers. I just want to hug her.
20. Welcome to the forum and Echo is a very pretty Timneh
21. haha yes his feet are huge and that is the first thing people say when they see him in person is man hes got huge feet! The breeder even told me he is going to be a large congo:kiss: He is 8 1/2 weeks old now...Thanks he sure has my heart very tight already

Post edited by: Cagal08, at: 2008/08/09 21:59
22. Here is Roscoe right after feeding. His feathers on his breast are coming in such an irridecent blue and he has some red feathers coming in on his leggs. He is such a big lovebug:cheer:
23. I ordered some of the scenic because years ago I remember these soak up the water very good so hopefully Roscoe will love these.
24. I was laying in the bed this morning with Roscoe and I had him on his poopie towel and he came waddling over to me and layed his head on my cheek...I about melted:kiss:
25. What a sweet Timneh. Did you ever get the DNA results back?
