What cage cleaning agents are safe for AG's?
Carolyn replied to PekingeseMama's topic in The GREY Lounge
Good old white vinegar and warm water is what we use, does the trick and is a cheap cleaner and safe. Carolyn & Mika -
I find the aviator harnes a little easier for putting on because it has no buckles to do up and also a little lighter for the bird to wear. I have had no experience with the feather teather but have had great luck using the aviator. Carolyn & Mika

Cardboard cups are great toys, next time you go for a coffe ask them to double your cup and take the clean one home for the bird, lego is also fun for both of you, you build it he tears it down and it just goes on from there:laugh: There are lots of great ideas in the Playstands and toy room, you should have a look in there for some good ideas. Has anyone taken their bird to Mexico from the US?
Carolyn replied to tatdmommy's topic in The GREY Lounge
I don't no anything about going to Mexico but I did check into bringing a US bird into Canada, and after the approx 1,000 to 1,200 in paperwork fees and 2 vet costs one in the states and one in Canada and the 45 day quarantine at 80.00 per day unless you quarantine the bird in your home, and if you do that there are not to be any other birds on the premises which means that you have to rehome your own birds for that length on time and they come and do spot checks on the living arrangements to. I found it was next to impossible and very very time consuming to go this route. I hope you find going to Mexico is a little easier. Carolyn & Mika -
Congradulations David, you both look very happy in your pic, good work. Now on to bigger and better things:laugh: Keep up the good work Carolyn & Mika

Mika has stolen the occasional candy a couple of times and except for a loose stool the next day he was just fine. Penny, next we are going to here that the two of them are drinking Starbucks Latte's and eating red velvet cupcakes:laugh: on occasion's only;) Carolyn & Mika

Hi JC If you google "clicker training parrots" you will come up with alot of different information on clicker training, I am still going through it all myself. Check it out and see if this is for you - I have in the pasted clicker trained a dog and it worked out very well, right now I am not to sure about a bird I am going to continue reading. I am starting to think you just may have a new boarder forever, it sure looks like you have done everything you can to try to find his home. He was very Lucky to have you find him. If you get no responce are you planning to give him a forever home with you? Carolyn & Mika

With winter in Ontario Canada we are not seeing much sun here during the days. I am not using a UV light but Mika does sit in the front window each day for a couple of hours and he is doing well, with just the natural light offered. I was asking our vet about it and he said that the natural light was just fine. Carolyn & Mika

I would try to discourage the habit of Lilo jumping down when she wants to and follow you around. There might be a time when you are in another room and she is wondering around with out supervision and that is the time when an electrical cord might look like a great chew toy or she may find other dangers on the floor. If you have other animals in the house that may be a problem as well. When Mika started this with the great advise from Dave I just picked him up told him no and returned him to his playgym on top of his cage this went on sometimes 5-6 times a day for about 2 weeks and he finally got the message, that it was not all right to jump down himself. I do allow him floor time but only when I am able to give 100% attention to just him when he is on the floor. I still keep a close eye on him when he is playing,I will never completely trust him to stay there. But he is doing well for the last few months. Carolyn & Mika

I admire that you are doing so much to get this baby home;) I wish you all the luck Carolyn & Mika

As Lorie said "the biggest insult to a grey is to ignore him" try and I no it will be hard to just walk away or turn your back on him when the loud whistling starts, dont reward for bad behavior. When he is just chatting away quietly tell him what a good boy he is and give him a treat. They soon get the message. There are several threads in the forum on wing clipping you should read through that are very interesting. Love to see some pics when you have the time, Timmy sounds like a sweet little boy and Karma to you for taking him in. Carolyn & Mika

I agree with you Pat, but people are just not happy to leave nature alone. A perfect example of that is with the dog world. I do not find any of those birds attractive, not for any price. That is my opinion to. Carolyn & Mika

Welcome, they are just so cute great pic. Lots of good info here and if you dont see it just ask;) Will you no by the time your baby comes home if it is a boy/girl? I am very partial to the name Starbuck (nothing to do with the coffeee) if I was to get another I am thinking that would be my first pick. When do you get him/her? Look forward to hearing all. Carolyn & Mika
