Welcome to our group skyblues. Look forward to hearing about "the Family"

I'm not sure I know what type of brass bell you are all talking about. Where do you purchase them? Maybe we have the same stores here that I can check out. Making them out of those condiment cups are pretty interesting, let me know how that works out. mary

Great baby pictures:) Keeping them coming please, love seeing them. What happened to Peaches is really, really, sad. I can't imagine why anyone would hurt any animal. Make me sick to my stomach.

Don't you just love that:) I guess why we love them as much as we do!!!!

Hi judygram, Thank you for the input. When you say you have one of those indestructable bells are they the ones that are inside a hard plastic bell shape toy? I had bought one of those for Echo and he was not interested at all. My caique inheritaged it:laugh:

Congratulation! My Echo is a TAG and love him to death. He picked me out and the bond just keeps getting better and better. That advise was right on the money! mary

I have a question about the ringers inside of toy bells. The breeder I got Echo from told me to make sure that I remove them from inside the bells because he could get hurt or swollow it, is this true? I am talking about middle to large bells. Mark posted a great picture of the skewer he uses and I noticed the bell at the bottom, that is what prompted this question. Any thoughts on this? mary

After my TAG, Echo, hurt his chest I did put towels on the bottom of his cage to help with any falls he would have. It did take changing towels often but it was well worth it. Nothing is more heart breaking than to see these little ones crash to the floor and hurt themselves. It's been over a month since Echo got hurt and it has been very hard on him and me not being able to have as much outside the cage time together. Hopefully the vet will give him a clean bill of health this Sat. Please be sure that as long as your baby is crashing that you have made the areas were he is as soft as possible. You'll be happy that you did. Good luck and keep us posted. Mary

I love that skewer too, Mark. The ones I saw just had a apple on the top. It has a screw on bottom so there are no sharp points or anything. Well I'm convinced:) Thanks guys for sharing and the info. Mary

I have been looking at some stainless steel fruit or veggie skewers and wondering if it would be a good way to offer Echo more veggies. Has anyone used them and how did they work if you do? Does anyone have any feed back on this? thanks, mary

Dear lovemyGreys Thank you for the advise. I thought that maybe it was a stage but really wasn't sure. You're right also about him being older, 17 months now. He seems to be coming out of his shell alittle. Things are even going better between him and my husband. He now will let him give him a treat while he is in his cage. He will call his name and everything. The forum has given me a lot of great advise and I really appreciate it. Thank you Mary

My Echo has started to "beak" my fingers whenever he gets a chance. I was able to have him sit with me while I was on the computer but no more. He will come over and "beak" my fingers. Sometimes lightly others pretty darn hard. I'm not sure why he started to do this. Is this the same as when a puppy bites your hand while playing? I really want to stop him of doing this because he does hurt me at times. Also when he is one the floor with me he comes over and "beaks" the heck out of my toes. How do I stop this? and why did he start doing this? Does anyone know why.

I am so sorry that Archie had such a bad experience. My Echo also had a bad clip and when he tried to fly he didn't quite fall like a rock but did not land correctly and cut his chest right on his breast bone. He has been on medicine and an iodine wash twice a day for about three weeks now. It has been very difficult on both of us as for my vet told me he had to stay in his cage until he heals, even when it is healed it will be at risk of spliting again as the new tissue is not as strong. Please follow the advise of padding the area around his cage or where ever you place him. Our best to the little guy. Mary and Echo

Dear Tracy I just finished reading about Smoky:( I am so sorry for your loss. As the others have said he knew that he was loved and cared for him/her to the best of your abilities. I am curious to know if there is a test or something a vet can do to catch this so it could possibly be reversed. My sympathy goes to you and your family. Thank you for letting us know what the cause was. Mary

Talk about attacking their toys. My caique will beat the heck out of his toys. He stands on the top of his perch on the top of his cage and then jumps down on one of his toys just a screaming. He will then back up, give it one of those side looks and then bang he nails it again. You are right they are alot of fun to watch. I'm waiting for my Echo to do the same some day. Right now he just kindof watches.

Dear Sameera, I know how having a vet from Hell is like. I had to take my little boy to one not knowing at the time that she was and had he get hurt at her office. After about two weeks the cut started bleeding again and she refused to see him so please, please find another vet. I did find one I'll be taking Echo too and he is all of 1 1/2 away. But like everyone is telling you it is well worth it. These babies rely on us and we have to do whatever it takes to make them a happy bird. Good luck in your quest! My best to you and your little girl. Mary

Nice photo of the two of you. Would like to see more pictures of our members' babies.

Hi Pat, Thank you for sharing. Are both birds grays? And your cockateil is it very active? The reason I'm asking is because my Zoe (caique) is like the energizer rabbit on steroids:lol: He is none stop from the time he raises till bedtime. Echo on the other hand is very meek and mild. Do you still think that will work? Both birds do have their wings clipped aready. Mary

Congrats Ashley on your new baby. I also look forward to seeing pictures and updates on his/her progress.:cheer:

Hello Everyone, It will be a little while before I will be able to try or maybe not introduce my caique to my TAG Echo. Echo is still recovering from his visit to "The Vet from Hell" Is it possible for the two of them to be friends or at least tolerate each other without one of them getting hurt? Zoe is 1 1/2 yrs old and Echo just turned one in April of this year. I always feel guilty for not spending enough time with them. Right now Echo and I have been spending alot more time than I am with Zoe. It would be alot easier if I could have both of them out of their cages at the same time. Please advise!

I would like to share that Echo is healing pretty well. We went to the vet yesterday ( not the vet from Hell) and he was please with his progress. I still have to continue with the iodine wash twice a day. He said it would probably take two to three weeks for him to fully heal. That greys are slow healers. It sure is hard on the little guy having to spend longer periods of time in his cage. The only time he is out is when I can sit on the floor with him one on one. If I walk by to talk with him he says "step up" and puts his little foot up. He is something else. I sometimes think is harder on me than it is on him. I sure do miss all our time together.

Good Morning, My husband and I are sitting here with the fishing guide waiting to see if the rain is going to stop. You never fail to amaze me. How do you know her? I printed out the article so my husband could read it too. I know I've said this before and will probably say in many times in the future. You do not know how much I appreciate the time and just the fact that you care for Echo and myself. Well I'm being called. You have a great weekend too. Hugs back! Mary
