  4. monty loves to play on this wooden clothes maid which we've added some toys to, this was only £9.99 from our local hardwear store dont know where i'll dry my washing now in the winter:laugh:
  5. monty was sold to me as a male but he's bonded really well with my husband:evil:  and generally prefers men, wether this is a myth that they like to bond with the opposite sex i dont know but was the reason for me wanting a male in the first place.ive also heard that females have a v shape in their red tail fethers around the vent area and monty definatly has this, can any tell by my photos if monty is a boy or girl?? anyway wether he/she is male or female i wouldnt swap my little angel for the world  just would be nice to know
  6. monty does this too, and when he's in the right mood,he will hardly stay upright on your fingers:) he seems to lunge forward and swings upside down:silly: scares me to death i quickly put my hand under his back just incase:ohmy:

she is beautiful  how old is she and how long have you had her?
  8. hi rabbit229 good luck with your search for a breeder, im from the uk, not too far from you im in stoke-on-trent. I struggled to find a breeder and had my monty from a small pet shop which specialises in birds&parrots, but i felt they are sometimes only in it for the money:( there wasnt babies for me to choose from there was only one bird set aside for me but i wouldnt swap monty for the world now. he's 5 months old and a little ***(angel)
  9. well monty suppose to be male:blink: but this sounds like the sounds he/she:unsure: makes .. to me it sounds like a noise that would come from a panther or cheetah or the like if u get to close to the cage at the zoo:P its hard to describe.. he does it when we in the room or out some times for 5-10 mins at a time but we try to ignore him. his ia about 5 months old now but had only started doing it the 4 wks or so.. at first i thought something had scared him but he still doing it and he's pretty laid back and doesnt scare easily, just hopeing by the time he gets to talking age he will forget to screech  bless i wouldnt have him any other way tho
  10. no nose picking here either.. monty likes to rub his head on your nose and likes his beak kissed but absolutley no nose picking:sick:
  11. hi all just thought i'd add a few more pics of monty he is a little *** darling:laugh: but OMG sooo messy  today i bought him yet more toys , see him in the pics they cost me £4.99 each from the cheap shop.. and i also bought an apple tree, this is going in my conservatory for him to climb on and chew once the branches get thicker.. is he ok chewing on the leaves and stripping the bark? i have hosed it down to make sure there no ikky pestisides on it
  12. is a hatch cert required by law in the uk does anyone know, as i think i'm being messed around by the pet shop from where i had monty, but if they are required then i wouldnt hesitate to take the nessesary action , being as they messed me about when trying to buy monty:angry:
  13. sp glad to hear the storm has passed and that you, elmo and averyone are ok;)
  14. we in the uk moan about rain all the time but thank goodness we don't have those sort of storms to cope with.. hope you and elmo stay safe and are back on here before we know it;)
  15. I am after a 5-6ft tree to grow in my conservatory for monty to play on, im in the uk, does anybody have any ideas on what I should use? I was thinking of a fruit tree but on web sites they recomend a dwarf tree and I wanted bigger one
  16. congratulations siobhan {Feel-good-000200BB}
  17. thanks:whistle:
  18. can they have dates if i remove the stone in the middle?
  19. thanks LMG i spent ages looking through the threads:unsure: then found that one after i posted:whistle:  typical.. i spend ages sometimes there's them many and the search box doesnt always bring the relevent topic you're looking for up
  20. iv'e been trying to find out if greys can see in the dark. i am always worried when i go to bed and leave monty in total darkness incase he falls in his cage:unsure: i know they're in the dark in the wild but it just tugs at the heart strings switching all the lights out on him and leaving him:blink:
  21. monty just had his first chicken bone, judge for yourselves:laugh: think he enjoyed it;)
  22. i've had monty now a little over 3 weeks, will his eating habbits be settled yet? or is he still in that settling in phase?( he seem to have settled in fine i think) i was asking this because he seems to be a fussy eater..he does not seem to eat much(hasnt got time to busy playing:blink: ). he likes a bit of toast in the morning but will only eat probably 1/4 of a round and he has fresh fruits i have tried nearly all the fresh fruits available but he just seems to eat the same things out of his bowl( melon apple orange pear peach) doesnt care much for other fuits especially red ones:blink: have tried him with porridge(no milk) and wheatabix but he wont have these. he likes veggies and soaked beans and has a mixture for dinner and usually a mixed salad for evening tea, all this sound fine but he wont eat any of these cooked either for variety. he doesnt like egg, rice just tends to pick the peas out of everything. his absolute favourate is snap peas he loves them. he was reared at the pet shop on sun flower seeds and i have gradually taken them away giving him acces to these, only a few, at night, and sometime they are untouched ,he does have pellets all the time in his cage but doesnt bother with these much either. i am a little concerned that he isnt eating enough. i find myself following him around with food trying to get him to eat something because he never returns to his cage or any of his food bowls. am i doing right? i do his beakfast and leave it in his bowl until dinner and then throw them away and do his veggies i leave them until tea and do his salad i throw this away before going to bed and he just had pellets and seeds then, he has access to food at all times please tell me what else i can do.. oh he doesnt like much people food either. dont get be wrong he does eat but just doesnt seem much.he was wighed at the vets 2 weeks ago and he was 39.45 now he is 39.00 he is 4 1/2 months old and she said his weight was fine, he is fully flighted and does lots of flying he loves it :woohoo:  am i just being paranoid.. sorry for such a long post ps. as we speak he is on his playstand eating a large bowl of veggies, must know im talking about tim:unsure:
  23. i no nobody has posted on this topic in a while but since im a new grey mom and monty is only 4 1/2 months and loves it outside i thought i'd check it out. we live in the uk where weather is a mixed bag:unsure: would it still be ok for monty to go outside in our temerature fluctuations? at the moment it's supposed to our summer here and its 18c 64f outside with the sun shining but sometimes you can knock 10 degrees of that. what will be the safest lowest temp to take monty out in if only for 20mins or so in the sun? and also at the other end of the scale he loves it in my conservatory as it's big and light and his favourite room but in here the temp can sometimes reach 41c 106f as it did last week:blink: is he ok in this heat? he seemed to pant a little and i gave him plenty of water and he sat with his wings open slightly i presume his way of cooling himself thanks in advance for any answers
  24. mel monty is 4 1/2 months old and he occasionally says hello!! and something that sounds like 'what you doing?' but only occasionally:) he usually just makes baby noises at the moment although i talk to him from 8am until i go to work at 2.30pm
