as i said, i wont do it unless she really starts to suffer from it, cause she is super active and fit. She is used to it like we are... The person that took her back to the breeders when she was 14 weeks old done us a favour... they had her two days and then took her back to the breeder and said they didnt want a disabled parrot :O:O Our warrot as we call her is perfect, and we wouldn't change her for the world, shes family and we love the little bones of her

Hi all... a while ago i made a post about adannas feet.. Well as i said before, the vet gave me two lots of cream that she had a reaction to so i wasn't overly happy today with another trial cream.. Took her in, and the vet said that she has two litle pressure sores on her foot, but nothing to worry about at the moment.. I asked what might have caused this, and she said excessive perching (adanna never sits still unless shes pooped). I said to her that when adanna was born her foot was broken, and asked if that might be a reason for it. Anyway she says that is more than likely the reason for the sore, as the bones oin her foot might not have connected properly. Adanna is able to do everything she wants to do and more so i never really look at her foot as a prob, although she does tend to sit with three claws to the front on that foot when shes really tired :P So took her away today, after her full M.O.T and the vet said she was in perfect health, and said she wished more of her parrots came in as healthy and happy as her.... I am going to get her foot x-rayedthough to see if thats the problem, then see about corrwecting it for her if it causes any dis-comfort (doesn't even bother her though, and never has since she was born- and shes 3 now.. Just a little update for u all... xoxoxoxmichelle and baby parrot

Post edited by: shelly_quin, at: 2008/07/30 23:50

hi.. I would try a spray called avi bird rain for the itching, its abouy £6 a bottle, and can be bought from your vets, or online, and bath him/her in luje warm water a few times a week. Parrots also pluck out of lolieness, is your bird alone a lot of the time? how long is it in the cage per day? My parrot is amused for hours shredding a toliet roll holder, even shiny sweety wrappers lol... hope this helps xox

Hi all.... just a quick question lol... My parrot is 3 as i have said on my profile, and shes having her summer moult. All appeared to be normal, until i noticed that she had a little bald pink batch under her wing. I got my boyfriend to check this, and he says the area isn't cut or sore looking, and he thinks it might be just her normal moult. I look at all her feathers as and when they come out when changing her cage, and none of them have any blood. She doesnt make any unusual noises when grooming, just sets to it like she would usually when shes moulting. She's eating well, plenty of fresh fruit and veg, and drinking as usual. Pretty much she is the same as she always is. Just thought i would ask if this could possibly be plucking? i've read up about it a lot online, but cant make up my mind... I'll try get a picture of the bit, its prob about the shape of a 5p... maybe smaller :S:S:S

just a little update... Had her at the vets again, and the vet said that she gave her the wrong cream  sooooo, she gave me the consult free and told me just to bathe her little foot daily with aloe vera juice, which i got from tesco :)Her foots gradually starting to look better she seems to like getting her little foot rubbed, and puts the other one up to get some cream to, although there is nothing wrong with that one lol.. thanks for all your help.. made her an appointment, and spoke to the vet, and shes agreed that i shold stop using the cream . Her perches are all different sizes and shapes, she doesnt have any cement perches just changed all her perches around a little while ago and cleaned them all again, and put a few new ones in lol... Im trying to upload the picture of her feet to this page :cheer:

nah she's not in any pain with it, she lets us touch it and it doesnt bother her at all.. i agree about the ointment, and have made another appointment for her next week at the vet. There isn't any open skin or anything like that, it just looks really tender, and i would hate to think that she was in pain and we didn't do anything about it
-
lol.. yeah i guessed as much about her myself lol... she's a stroppy parrot with me, but she loves her daddy, cause he never gives her a tlling of, thats left to me lol... thanks again
-
hi.. she has java wood perches, which the vet says are prett good for her feet. The vet says its nothing to worry about, abd said that all i would need to do was apply this germicidal barrier ointment, and its a pretty well respected vet, but i just dont know what to do. Theres nothing in her cage at all hat she can hurt herself on,and everything gets properly cleaned on a daily basis with hot water.. Since using the cream i'd say her little foot looks worse

My parrot has sore looking patches on the padding of one of her feet.. They started of as just one little pink mark and gradually started to cover the rest of the padding on that foot. I took her to the vets (avian) a few weeks ago and she suggested a ointment for it, i have been using this stuff for nearly two weeks now, and have saw no difference. I tried to take a pic of her foot today so i could show you, but the best i could do is the one that i have attached, i'll try again later to get a better picture and post when i can. In the picture im posting you can sort of make out the reddness. She lets us touch it, and it causes her no pain, but im still worried about it! Any help greatly apreciated x

yeah Adanna talks a lot... to much sometimes lol, we say to her when she needs to go 'go up there' she says tha as shes walking up to her perch now, and we always tell her good girl, or whos a clever parrot, and the funny thing is she says both those sentances after she has went in the right place... i've took to cleaning her cage twice a day ow cause i was thinking maybe she doesn't like to go doodie when there is loads of poop there, still no difference though. It's not all the time she does it, it's just when she thinks she can get away with it lol Thanks for all the help and suggestions everyone xxx

This is proberly a really common topic... but here goes anyway, i have a female congo, Adanna, and have been trying to potty train her for about 3 years, and not doing a very good job at it so far... My friend, and her daddy has tried many things, praise, little treats after it, you name it, we have tried it... Sometimes she's really good, others its poop central lol.. any help would be greatly appreciated as im slowly loosing patience with her and it lol:P
