Hi Robert, I purchased one from DrFosterandSmith.com and I also ordered a metal one from Feathered Farm .Both were on line orders and I was pleased. Pat suggested making one , which is a great idea . That way you can make it exactly suited to your bird . Sometimes the ones already made are lacking interest , so we have had to add to ours , perches , hooks , swings etc.... Kind Regards, Mary

Pat , she is lovely .Thank you for sharing . Mary

Acappella, perhaps all the fuss was him just not knowing all the fun he was going to experince out side . It will all work out , you just keep on and be kind and gentle. He will figure it out .I enjoyed the pics. Mary

Pat , Sammy is with Doug and I both equally. He spends as much time with Doug as me . So it's not a social issue . He got real cocky when my husband sat down and I think he thought Doug was there to remove him from me . Which he wasnt, he just sat down . Thanks , for the reassurance , I won't give up , it will just be a while . Mary

Thanks guys, We will keep the diary.Good Idea!!!! Even with him being in my lap and having his eyes closed , I was having to be careful , he was flipping that head around and I would just stop and he would calm down . He does pretty good when we are just walking him around , site seeing but when we sit , he is acting arrogant. The lady we bought him from said he had never bitten anyone .I find that very hard to believe, she was divorced and now has a boyfriend , which to me could explain a jealousy issue perhaps picked up from her .Also the children went to live with the ex husband , so he also had lost part of a family where I am sure there was some stress issues. So we will see.He does great as long as we don't handle him , letting him out and he flies to playstand and then back to cage .Isnt this sort of out of control , on our part ? If anyone else has any suggestions , they will be appreciated . Thanks , Mary

Sammy was sitting in my lap enjoying head scratches last night .Everything was going great . My husband came into the room and sat down in the chair beside us .He just spoke to Sammy, thats all. Sammy walked onto my arm which was resting on the chair , then he lunged and bit me on the check very close to my eye.He didnt break the skin , but I had a huge whelp .I just handed him to my Husband , there was no reaction.I can't believe , there was no warning , no pinning , nothing .My Husband even said , he was watching and saw nothing that would indicate this was about to happen .He was about elbow level on the arm , then he jumped towards my face and just grabbed me. Was this jealousy , I know the person they bond with is sometimes the one who gets the bite. This guy will never be on me again .So Sad ... Mary

Pat , how awesome for you and Tyco .She is so lucky to have you .Someone willing to give her another chance in life to be loved and well cared for . Time and work , the more you give the more you get back .We are all so truly blessed to have these wonderful birds in our hearts , home, and on our hands .It really is a miracle that all they do can actually take place in our homes and right before our eyes. Thanks for sharing a wonderful story. Congrats on the accomplishment !!!! Mary

Pat,Of course you may use my butter tub foraging toy idea . I just used a knife and made slits in the bottom so it wouldnt slide on the plastic chain .I fill them with treats and toys .Zsa Zsa , my Alexandrine loves it .I also used a plastic chain on her playstand and attached a toy sand bucket at the bottom to fill with toys , she is so funny she climbs inside and peeks out .They love the lids to those butter tubs also and play with them for hours .Don't forget the bottle caps off of bottled water , another toy staple in our house..... I buy my toy making parts from Nalanitoys.com .I think they are pretty reasonable and they stress safty. Yes they love to watch as we make them and you are so right , they tear them up quickly. Have a good afternoon , Mary

Hey you can try dimming the lights , they get the idea at my house when I start turning off the lights .If I place an apple in Sammy's cage , in he goes .Zsa Zsa will go in for anything , they love food , special treats . I wish you much luck .Keep us posted. Hugs,Mary

I was reading the ingredients on Harrison pellets and noticed they list ground peanut shells.I have read horriable things about shells containing mold spores and bacteria .Any comments ? Mary

What an exciting moment Pat .I am so happy for you . Congrats.... Mary

Pat ,I agree . I do make a lot of toys myself for my birds and most of the things I buy are not expensive .Sometimes I go to a bird show and buy inexpensive toys and come home and take them apart , add to them and make two toys one for each .What I was referring to about Sammy's past owner , she gave him dog toys from the grocery store , no wood to chew and bottle caps off of water bottles.I had stuff from our Grey before who passed away that were in nice condition when Sammy came, we gave them to him and he was so excited . He loves wood and she said he hated it .They play with all kinds of stuff from the kitchen , I made a foraging chain out of butter tubs , the small ones going down a plastic chain and my Alexandrine loves it . We should start a toy making room , to share ideas .Have fun and keep on making those toys . Hugs , Mary

Your on your way !!!!!Thats what you were looking for .Get her away from that cage , this is exactly waht my female Alexandrine did.Allow her to fly off , the away to the neutral room. How exciting !!!! Hugs , Mary

Judy ,I am really shocked it happened so quick .You know when you are trying to introduce them to a new whatever it gets so frustrating because we know they will love it .He came from a lady who couldnt give him neat toys and playstands , she couldnt afford them and I AM SO EXCITED TO HAVE HIM HERE !!!!!!I want to buy him something every weekend .Our Alexandrine is so spoiled when I come in with bags , she comes over to see what I bought for her .LOL....She knows when a box comes in the front door it is probably something for them and here she comes.LOL.. Thank you for the reply, Mary

Finally after 6 whole days of trying to get this guy to stay on this new play area , he finally accepted it.He would fly away and we just kept on taking him back .Today he has been there for hours playing his heart out .I am so excited for him to have all new toys to play with and ladders to climb for exercise . Mary
