Yet another thread that is 5 star i wish i had found this one before i bought the first harness. Now i have the Aviator Harness (with the training DVD well worth getting). Dusty isnt fully happy about using it but loves going out side in the back garden. We followed the training tips and Wow they work. i walk my dogs most night and in the summer would love to take dusty with me that would be great. Anyone that doesnt have an Aviator Harness should really try and get one your birdie will thank you in the end.

What's The Most Expensive Item Your Grey Has Broke
Jaguar replied to Jaguar's topic in The GREY Lounge
For anyone with a TV that you dont want your grey landing on it. Try the toys that he/she doesnt like worked great for us but yeah Dusty has cost alittle so far. -
That is Sooooo Great. We can only wish.

I will start this Tread off. Catherine and i bought a nice new 50" plasma screen TV only had it about 5 months and Guess which little flying horror landed on it and used it as a toilet. Bang!( -£1000 ) went our TV lucky Dusty wasnt hurt at all. So now i got some toys that Dusty dont like so there on top of the New 50" TV. As he hates these toys he wont go near the TV thank god and now uses his cage as toilet so problem just about sorted

Dusty being in the UK in the summer months its only dark about maybe 5 hrs. So we have perches dotted around the house for Dusty to use. Around about 10pm Dusty is wanting to go to his sleeping perch and settle down for the night, but hes normal awake nipping our toes and kissing us to wake up by 6am. I havent need an alarm clock for 1yr now. Dusty has free range of the house and is only locked in cage when we go out( Safety First can have him chewing a cable )

Second post in one day omg! ( lol ) just like to thank EVERYONE here on our great forum, The information that my wife and i have gained has made Dusty life so much richer. Hes in his aviator harness and soon once hes alittle more happier with it, will get him out and around with my wife. I also if things go well, would like to take Dusty out when i go dog walking ( but this is along way off).I had read that some parrot will only bond with one person. Dusty on the other hand doesnt seem to understand that(or just hasnt read the same forum posts). Dusty follows both of us likes to keep an eye on us making sure we dont get into any trouble, also likes to keep us busy so we dont get bored. So i would just like to again thank everyone and keep up the good work as the posts you write do have a bearing on small parrots like Dusty. Thanks for making him the bird he is

Catherine wanted to share this photo she took of the Nutter (Dusty) playing,
-
We had dusty Chipped and he was fine no blood they use some glue to close the whole as AG skin is very thin. If you get this done just dont be in the room when your AG is getting done. Or your AG may hold this against you lol.

Going though the Toilet training with Dusty we think he has just about got the idea but not 100% yet. Will just keep going with it anyway isnt it good luck to get "her duties" on your husband. I would get him to pick the Lotto Numbers

I agree but in the summer we're going away for 2 weeks holidays and dont want him to get too stressed out, if i can get him used to the cage alittle first the maybe it will help. your right though Dusty comes out at about 7:30am and is out till around 12:00pm when we goto bed
-
Can a grey be out of his cage too much ? when Dusty is out playing ontop of his cage hes great. Put him back into his cage and hes Stressed out. He starts scratching with his foot like a baseball pitcher. we put him in his cage when we goto bed at night and never hear any noise. think there is any way to get him to stop stressing out in his cage
-
i hope Jengo is feeling better Very soon must be a stressfull time.
-
Dusty has a cage with a play top and this includes the dropping tray. So what were trying is get Dusty out and put Dusty ontop till hes done his droppings. Then play with him. Also every time we think he needs to go we place him back onto the play top. getting about a 50:50 success rate so far
-
Just to let everyone see Dusty at home and happy. We got his cage stuffed with toys and his fav foods. added 2 perch's on the outside which Dusty uses alot. We put Dusty back in when were sleeping (Safety) but for having Dusty for 2 weeks has settled in just fine. And Dusty Has us trained well!

Post edited by: Jaguar, at: 2008/03/21 00:25

We placed a few Harrison's in Dustys food bowl and he loves them now (Thank god) we will place a small bowl to catch what we can( they are costly but worth it). Here is a Question though on the back of the Harrisons is says. "It is Not necessary or recomended to supplement with vitamins or other bird or animal food products. Restrict any supplemented Oragnic fruit and veg to dark yellow meaty or dark green leafy items such as sweet potatoes, carrots, broccoli and mango (these are things Dusty Loves ) Do i have to stop these when i'm feeding Harrisons ? or can i still give him fresh veg's ( Dusty really loves fresh veg's)
