Dorian likes cheese as well. He doesn't get it often enough to be obsessive, and he has to see me eating it before he'll try it every time, but when he does decide to taste it he then inhales it, not dropping a piece. I've never tried yogurt with him on purpose, but he has gotten his beak into it a couple of times when I was eating it.
  4. Dorian Loves Loves Loves it when I play a cd, have the radio on, or sit at the keyboard and sing. He whistles and woots and chatters the whole time. It's lovely, he's so happy. Does Sophie sing along or dance?
  5. . . . because I missed Dorians 12th birthday, which was on November 27th. I haven't been feeling very well and didn't think to get into my file to view his Hatchday certificate to check the date. So...Happy Belated Birthday little boy. I love you lots.
  6. Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear the vet visit set back the trust building a bit, but you'll soon make up for lost ground I'm sure. They'll figure out soon that they've just won the birdy lottery!
  7. Well he broke that mug and has moved his obsession onto my new one. He's still trying to get a sip of tea every time I have a cup'a. As for getting into trouble, my keyboard doesn't have a w key anymore and the cable protector I have wrapped around the cords on my desktop looks like a piece of abused Swiss cheese. I can't believe he doesn't say 'No'. He certainly hears it enough.
  8. He's sitting on the actual computer tower which sits on its side with the computer monitor on top of it. The keyboard sits right in front of the tower, just out of sight.
  9. Thanks Sterling. Just wanted to show off my boy!
  10. Aw, poor emotional baby. They are so in tune to our emotions aren't they? So glad Koko has so many people loving on her.
  11. This is Dorian's new favourite perch, siting on top of my computer within snatching distance of my computer keys. I shudder to think of what the inside of the computer looks like with all his dust, even though I vacuum it every time the machine is out. He'll sit here foot tucked, beak grinding, for an hour at a time, then go for a wander on the desk, usually getting into something he shouldn't be. That's my boy!
  12. I love how she's standing there so confident and happy. I just wish she could have come to you before whatever trauma that caused her plucking happened. I hate the thought of any of these birds suffering, like we all do.
  13. What a good picture. Is Koko still plucking or is that permanent follicle damage?
  14. As someone who has been here for the whole ride and read the entire thread it's been a great lesson in patience. The only thing I'd wonder about a roost cage is how easy it would be to move her into her normal cage in the morning? Isn't she a little cranky in the AM.?
  15. Loved the video. I think I can hear the beginning of some word intonation in there. Very exciting! What a cute baby.
  16. I think they like a little alone time to 'chat amongst themselves'. Dorian is with me most of the time, but he does seem to enjoy some time with me in another room and us calling and chatting back and forth to each other. He doesn't really talk when we're in the same room, so it gives him some time to flex his vocal muscles.
  17. It looks like love! lol I know the concern that it will get frustrating for him. Dorian wakes up every morning in this lovey mood, and goes to bed every night in the same mood. He doesn't seem frustrated. I just tell him I don't want his food, thank you. He hears this so often I'm surprised he doesn't say it. Just don't encourage it. You know the drill. Don't pet him in any sensitive zones, especially when he's "in the mood". The timing is curious. I guess he was just so glad to see you after your short absence that he wanted to show you loves!
  18. I'm glad things are going well. I just want to warn you against a possible false feeling of security. You're still in the honeymoon phase of Lolas re-home. Sometimes after a couple of weeks a re-home's true personality will start to emerge and some new behaviours will emerge. Just watch them together. It might, depending on your brother's autism, be an opportunity to teach your little brother about reading Lola's body language and engage him in something outside himself if he's really intrigued by her.
  19. Just wanted to welcome you and Lola to the forum. Please stick around and let us know how it's going. She's lovely.
  20. Welcome to you and Ash. Beautiful baby!
