  1. {Feel-good-0002006E} These posts are too funny!!!
  2. {Feel-good-0002006E} yep...you are now a full member of the Grey Owners Association.   Holding it won't hurt them...I take mine to the toilet every morning for his morning bomb and then he holds it till I get home and I can take him to the john again.<br><br>Post edited by: BMustee, at: 2007/11/06 18:51
  3. Yeah, I bet it's just the normal "pelican poop". My grey lets out a huge poop first thing in the morning, and again when I get home because he does not like to poop in his cage and will hold it till I get home and take him to the toilet. The great benifit to having him enjoy pooping in the toilet is I can just flush those stinky nasty mega poops. The big poops do normally look different than the little poops...mine has about 3 different normal poops he lets out. Your baby should be fine without a vet visit. BTW...The vet I took my Sun Conure to that only did a visual and fecal exam only cost around $40...it was a normal vet that would see birds but was not a full blown Avian vet.<br><br>Post edited by: BMustee, at: 2007/11/06 18:44
  4. At his age he will be thin, all birds drop a lot of weight when they fledge and gain it back over time. Mine got pretty skinny...you could see it in he face. Just be sure to give him lots of his fav "good for him" foods. You said he really liked the baby food so you should offer that to him in another bowl when you give him a morning or afternoon meal...but keep giving the parrot baby food, nothing replaces that when they are still handfeeding.
  5. Yeah, I would go to the vet on this one. My grey's poop will stink sometimes...mainly just when he lets out the HUGE poops (what I call pelican poops). The color and consistency is what I would be worried about.
  6. I used a slightly warm towel to clean my grey after feedings. Depending on where the grey is in the house determins what i use to clean with. I will use a wet cloth if he is with me in the kitchen and he poops on the hard floor, but if he is back in the bedroom in the cage I will use a Clorox wipe to get poop off the floor. It was discussed on another post that if you let bird poop dry on the carpet it is easier to clean up then if it is still wet.
  7. I am in Southwest Florida and I would love to know if there is a avian eye doctor around. Keep us posted on your findings.
  8. Yeah, I wouldn't be worried about him not talking until he is over a year old. Your grey is doing quite well for mimicing the knock at his age. There is always the chance that he won't talk but if he is already "trying" to say things it sounds like he is off on the right foot.
  9. LOL...thats funny susie. There are a lot of people out there that like the TAGs a lot more than the CAGs. I have a second job at a pet store and some people will flock to the CAG babies, and others go right for the TAGs. To tell you the truth, the TAGs sell faster than the CAGs because there just aren't as many out there and people snatch them up when they become available.
  10. The only way to get him to stop completely is to clip his wings. If you don't want to do that you need to be VERY careful with windows and mirrors. With walls he can see they are there and slow down for the hit but if he sees a window and wants to land on the tree outside he could do some serious damage to himself flying full speed into the glass. Keep the blinds down and fans off at all times when he is out.
  11. It sounds like a beak overgrowth to me too. The shape of the beak can very from bird to bird but they should always be able to shut it without any openings.
  12. LOL...very well put on the Eeewwww factor Dan. I would keep letting them "tolerate" each other as you are doing but I wouldn't push them any more than that. Putting them in a cage together could result in a real battle royal.
  13. I have a CAG. I don't think I will ever get a TAG because I like the size and color of the CAGs a lot more. I think my next parrot would be a B&G, Buffon's, or Military macaw.<br><br>Post edited by: BMustee, at: 2007/11/05 15:42
  14. I would not put them together yet. If they are not preening and touching eachother while perched they are not "pair bonded". The lunging could be a sign that one got too close to the other, so it sounds like they pretty much just tolerate eachother more than anything else.
  15. I'm very sorry to hear about Beaker...I would be very upset as well. Freak things like that can happen, but it's still hard to deal with. Your breeder sounds like a stand up person to give you your money back and offer another bird from the next brood for free. Seeing as though Beaker died due to an accident I wouldn't hesitate to get another bird from them. I hope that it doesn't take long for there to be another clutch so you can get the bird you obviously want so much.
  16. African Greys start talking around a year old give or take. My CAG is 7 months and can't say any clear words but has a large vocabulary of noises, and he is about as happy as any grey can get. He has the dog barks down to a T now. There are greys that start talking as babies but that is not the norm. At 6 months he should not be expected to talk yet, so just give him time. You might have a closet talker that will only talk when he is by himself...there are a few people on this site with greys that are like that. Talking isn't a sign of happiness, it's just the birds preference if they do or not...so I hope you did not buy a grey just for it's potential talking abilities.
  17. He is too cute! I love the white nails. Keep those pictures coming!

  19. You should google Red Palm Oil...there are tons of sites you can order it from online.
  20. It's safe, put be careful with the glue...don't let any get where the bird and pick at it. You should get with Nevjoe...he is the PVC master!
  21. Wow...thats a lot of posting!!!! Keep i up and you'll hit 10000 by the end of the year!
  22. lol...how cute! I had a female cat as a kid named Fred, so I don't think it is wierd for a girl to have a boy name.
  23. You need to give her time to get settled in before there can be any bonding...don't force anything because this could harm the bonding instead of help. As far as I know the TAGS and CAGS had the same base personality, and only minor differences. The TAGS are supposed to be less neurotic and not as prone to plucking but there are a couple people on the site with TAGS that pluck. TAGS are known for being more laid back than the CAGS but that is just the stereo type as well. That is why I brought up the TAG plucking; they are stereo typed not to be pluckers. I wouldn't say for sure that she will or won't be a family pet but I wouldn't "count my chickens" till her personality has really shown after she settles in.
  24. LOL...I love the fish names! I had a betta fish named 2000 Flushes! When he died I joked with my mom that I was going to do a 21 flush solute...boy did she not get that joke.
