  1. No need to worry Talon, our birds are unable to catch our colds, could you imagine how many birds would be ill all over the world if they could ! someone somewhere always has a cold
  2. Sorry to hear your unwell Toni, they probably dont want you to visit just as a precaution. We all get colds at some point & are birds are fine.If you have a cold when Alcazar is home with you,just make sure you wash your hands before handling his food,no direct kisses, general hygiene rules really, you will be fine & so will Alcazar.
  3. Devastating & tragic, A very sad day {Feel-bad-0002006A}
  4. No problem changing her name just do a search on the Internet the options are endless do let us know what you decide
  5. Very Tragic news for us all.My thoughts & prayers go out to Irene Pepperberg ,& Alex's Memory will live on. If Tears Could Build A Stairway, If tears could build a stairway and memories were a lane We would walk right up to heaven And bring you back again. No farewell words were spoken No time to say goodbye You were gone before we knew it And only God knows why Our hearts still ache in sadness and secret tears still flow What it meant to lose you No one will ever know But now we know you want us To mourn for you no more To remember all the happy times Life still has much in store Since you'll never be forgotten We pledge to you today A cherished place within our heart Is where you'll always stay Fly Free Alex xxxxx <br><br>Post edited by: lovemyGreys, at: 2007/09/08 12:57
  6. Neither option is ideal, i wouldn't personally leave a single bird for three days with someone coming in to just feed him.Is there no one who could stay at yours & care for him ? Or someone who could spend time with him. Taking him with you is not ideal either, travelling may stress him out,how long will he be left in a hotel room in unfamiliar surroundings ? This may really freak him out im sorry to say. I'm sorry your in this situation but neither one is really ideal for him.Do you have a friend or relation who could stay at your for the 3 days you are away ?<br><br>Post edited by: lovemyGreys, at: 2007/09/07 20:36
  7. I have three CAG but if a TAG became available through rescue i wouldn't hesitate to take it on .I think they are equally beautiful,& two of my CAG spoke at approx 7 months.
  8. Sorry to hear Rio has become ill.Fingers crossed the medication will sort her out. As for looking at another bird that is something only you can decide.Do you feel you have bonded with Rio etc.. ? Personally i wouldn't be able to turn my back on a bird i had been visiting if i found she had an infection. The feather chewing may well be an issue for the future, as Tari says it may be bordom,stress lack of stimulation.If deat with now & being Rio is a young bird you may be able to stop it. Lots to think about, i wish you well in your decision.
  9. Good read Monique, thank you
  10. Atlas as Tari has said there is never any guarantees that introducing another bird that they will get along. My own experience is i have 3 greys who live in their own room, the two boys are brothers & share a special bond.My other grey is a rescue who has been with me 8 weeks, she lives in the room with the boys, i an fortunate that my boys have accepted her as part of the flock,i know at any point this can change, but for now they live happily together.I wish you well in whatever you decide.
  11. As the others have said definitely showing affection for your husband,i have wooden floors if i dont catch the poo before it goes hard i have a little scraper i gently scrape it with ,then wipe with a cloth.
  12. If you have confidence in the breeder & she is happy to answer your questions then that is a positive sign.If you had any doubts i think personally you would have know by now, call it a woman's intuition If it feels right i dont see any problems,& she does look healthy & alert.good luck

  19. Good advice beccy, it's fine to share a little of what we have with out birds,but offer a piece of food you have eaten, this is safer than giving your bird a titbit they may have had contact with your saliva. Here is the link Tari mentioned. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/28325-to-kiss-or-not-to-kiss-.html#28761
