    HELP!

Kaedyn,if Indy indeed experienced a night fright this can have an instant impact on their behaviour.I know of one member whose grey changed literally overnight. These frights can be very traumatic to a grey.

    HELP!

Nims was this during the night ? Was she asleep prior to this ? Sounds like Indy may have experienced a night fright.Parrots do not see well at night so if something spooks them in turn they panic. This leads to them flapping and thrashing. A bird’s natural instinct in the wild would be to fly away but since the bird is in a cage ,it normally ends up trying to do this and hits everything within the cage.Ideally you need to turn the light on,some say get your bird out of the cage to reassure them, others say leave them in their cage.Once they have calmed back down, leave a dim light on and let them go back to sleep. Providing your bird some light is the most important thing you can do,Perhaps leave a dim light this evening. Just be patient with her, this has been traumatic for her,Try to carry on as normal around her

  9. Great picture, your pictures are so cute.
  10. Hi Dustin & Welcome to the forum. As her new owner you are her flock & she will watch you & learn, far more than watching a video. Preening should be a natural behaviour for a grey & bathing will encourage that. If she has never bathed you could fill a bowl with water, add a few toys & basically splash around yourself, let her see what great fun your having.Get a water spray bottle & gently spray her with a fine mist. Here is a link for encouraging her to play ... http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-nursery/73105-teaching-your-baby-to-play.html This link is for introducing new foods... http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/53831-tips-for-getting-your-grey-to-eattry-new-foods.html Im sure given time & patience you will be able to teach her

  22. You may want to have the perches slightly lower down in the cage to start with, increase there height every few days, baby greys can tend to be a little clumsy climbing around their cage Newspaper is fine.
  23. Welcome LabRat, The digging/scratching at the bottom of the cage is normal behaviour in baby greys. Most grow out of it,but even older greys will do it from time to time.Nothing to be worried about
  24. Found this on the net today, thought it may be of intrest to members who have greys that pluck/pick. Tofu is a soy based product. Parrots who have hormonal tendencies should not be offered soy products. Soybeans contain natural forms of estrogen which can enhance hormone levels. If your parrot has plucking/picking habits, we recommend discontinuing all soy products.
