By all means, bring him closer and talk to him and interact with him, offer him some foot toys to entertain himself.

Hello and welcome to the family, Richard and Gisela, we are glad you joined and looking forward to hearing more about Herbie. You are finding out what wonderful creatures greys are and you are in for a lifetime of happiness. You already seem to enjoy and love him immensely and no wonder, you can't help but love them to death. Please feel free to ask any specific question you may have, we will do our best to get you an answer. If you have a photo of Herbie you would like to post, other than the one you use for your avatar please do, we love to admire each other's greys.

I have never heard of a mealy amazon, can you describe one for us, like what colors, size and so forth. And of course with your big heart you will take it in I'm sure, I say go for it if you want it and have the room for it.
-
They don't call them clowns for nothing, the sun conures of course, thanks Lovie for sharing these photos with us, I love all of them, but my favorite is the sun.

Sorry for what, nothing to be sorry about, I don't have the training room anymore, that is xxbeccyxx room now, I have the welcome room, but it wouldn't have made any difference anyway, no one owns them so you can post anywhere you like, we just like to keep the threads organized under the proper titles.

Now I know why I didn't like Chet's DVD, I suspected it was crap and now Dave has cleared that up for us, thank you Dave for your help. Some of the members here have taught their greys tricks and such, just read thru a lot of the threads especially in the training room for a lot of good ideas. But you are welcome to ask specific questions, but if it is about tricks and training, be sure to put it in the training room.

How long have you had him now? They do scratch like a chicken but not violently, I am stumped as to what is going one. While waiting for other members to give you some answers, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little about yourself and your grey.
-
Welcome to the family, David, we are so glad you finally decided to join in the fun. We look forward to hearing more about your grey, like his name, sex, how old and how long you have had him.:cheer: Why don't you give us a little more information about yourself and this CAG you have aquired. You are welcome to post a photo if you have one, we would love to see him. As you mentioned, we do have a lot of information here in the various topics and threads, but feel free to ask specific questions you may have.

Congratulations FairY, you have just joined the best group of people on this site with your wonderful posts, keep up the good work, you do such a fantastic job.
-
That is correct Toni, you should get just one for now, and then later get another one if you like. Otherwise they might bond to each other and not to you.
-
Not much you can do to stop it, now that he knows the words, but do as the others recommended, ignore the cuss words and praise the good words and eventually he will say them less and less.

Hopefully this will be the place to help
judygram replied to Ronda477's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Hello Ronda, and welcome to the family of grey owners. I am glad you joined and looking forward to hearing more about you and your family. In my opinion, there is not a lot of difference between the Cag and the Tag except the Tag is smaller, has darker grey feathers, the beak is horn colored instead of black and the tail is a darker maroon versus the red tail of the Cag. The Tag may tend to be more outgoing and less likely to bond with only one person, but I am no expert on Tags. You certainly want to get a weaned one, only people who have experience doing that should ever hand feed a baby grey. Some of the members have bought their greys and have had them shipped from various places, some risks involved but I think they got theirs ok. Just be sure to ask a lot of questions and get some references. I think you will like it here, we are a family and we like to help in any way we can. -
Greys, Dogs, and other generalized questions.

Well score one for Kitty, and maybe this will show your mom that she has nothing to be afraid of. A cockatiel is very different from a grey but it will give you some idea of how living with a bird will be like. Maybe she will even begin to like it in time. Way to go Kitty. -
No don't wait, get him to step up or you risk him taking charge of the situation, remember who is the parent and who is the child. I don't really understand the screaming, Josey does not scream like that, she is relatively quiet, my sun conure is louder. Of course if you grab his feet before you get him to step up, no wonder he screams. Do not grab him anywhere, just put the hand in front of him and ask him to step up. Maybe you need to give us a little more information to give you a proper answer. How about doing that.

Allright, you asked for it, I don't mind watching these kind of videos, they are actually funny but this is a family forum so therefore I object to this kind of link put here for any potential kids that happen to click on it and watch. I do object to the language being taught the greys, I would never intentionally teach Josey those kind of words, not that she is never exposed to cussing, she is but so far has not uttered any of it. And I do object to the link being here on site for young kids to hear that, this is a G-rated forum. Children are exposed to this kind of language almost everywhere anymore and it is my opinion that it should not be here. Staggy, I have nothing personal against you, so don't take offense but I just think it has no place here on this forum. Thats my story and opinion and I am sticking to it.

Well thanks, Joe, for the vote of confidence, but you better watch out, you never know what I am going to say and I have it in writing that you agree to whatever, boy I am not going to touch that with a ten foot pole. Heh, heh, heh.
-
Laurie, we have a FAQ section that covers this very subject, please read thru and then you will be able to post a photo. If you still have trouble, feel free to pm one of us and we guide you in the right direction.

I bet that was fun to watch, should have captured that on video, we could all laugh ourselves silly.:woohoo: Greys are truly like children in that they can play with the simplest and cheapest things.

Shame on Joe, he should know better that QT is a must, I only hope all is well and nameless gets a clean bill of health, I wouldn't want to have to say, "I told you so". Glad to hear Jo Jo is better, give her my regards, please Joe. I agree with Tari, the feathers are certainly healthy and lustrous looking, you must be feeding them both very good food. B) Let us know what you decide to name nameless, I am curious to know.
-
And thats not all we can solve, either, Tari.

I am so sorry for your loss, greylover, and it is not your fault, it is so natural to blame yourself, but know that he is in peace now. You are in my thoughts and prayers now and I hope you find some peace in them. What a lovely poem, and the tears now fill my eyes but know that you are not alone, you have us here to help you in your time of need.

Isn't it funny how sometimes all the kids birthdays fall in a short time frame, most of ours are in May. But we do miss you and hope you can get back into posting and sharing time with us, just put Dayo on your shoulder and type away. :) :) :) :)

I still think about those toes, it reminds me of Zooky's plight which is so sad. Brenda you are doing a fine job of taking this baby that is not perfect and giving it a loving home. You have such a big heart and I think a lot of you and hope all goes well and keep us informed, we want to know.
