Thanks for the link, Michael, that seems like a good deal and we all can use a good deal now that everything is so high anymore. BTW, Michael, don't stay away so long, we are all busy with work, family, the holidays and all but we miss you and want you to participate more often if possible, don't become a stranger.
  2. I wouldn't let Klaus have too much too often for the very fact that canned soups are loaded with sodium. My Josey had pinto beans, cornbread and cabbage and she loved it all, of course I don't have any inside dogs to take care of the mess, so I had to clean it up.
  3. Ronda, I am sorry that no one has signed your guestbook, and I will do that shortly, sometimes we need reminders or we slack behind, but believe me you are loved here and appreciated. I give so many people karma I don't remember if it was me but I will give you some more, you deserve it. {Love-000200BF}
  4. Happy Thanksgiving to all the members and their families. I am thankful for all the wonderful friendships I have made here on this forum.
  5. Andrew, it was in Bird Talk magazine.
  6. I just had a prefinished hardwood floor put down in my dining room today and I don't think there is any way Josey could chew on it, being flat to the floor there is no exposed edge for her to get a hold of.
  7. I am going to check into that myself, I have thought about it but not purchased any, thanks Tracy.
  8. I just received my latest issue of Bird Talk magazine for January 2008 today and it has a special tribute to Alex and some good photos of him inside. Like the Playboy magazine, it has a foldout photo section in the middle and Alex is in the centerfold. I know a lot of you probably subscribe to this magazine and will see the article but this thread is for those who do not and maybe you can go out and get it for it is a good fitting tribute to Alex.
  9. Thanks so much Kristin for sharing these videos of Makena doing his stuff, he is a real camera ham and is going to be a good talker, I'm sure.
  10. Hello and welcome to the family, Caroline, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Charlie. Please read thru the many threads here on various topics for lots of useful information, and if you have any specific questions to ask, we will do our best to get you an answer and help you in any way we can. If you have a picture of Charlie you would like to share with us, we would love to see him.
  11. Those are some wonderful looking birds, Lynne, and I especially loved the rose breasted, my favorite of the others, thanks so much for sharing them with us.
  12. I like your rules and your thoughts on the subject, Sandra, and karma for you.....
  13. Probably most of them don't like vet visits, but they are necessary evils for their health, glad that he is healthy and soon be happy.
  14. It did and he is a fine looking fellow and you have some lovely names for your flock members, Ariel, Angel, Peekaboo, Snow White, Frosty, Jocko and Casper. Thanks for sharing a pic of Casper with us. Yes I agree, we all need advice from time to time and I know I am constantly learning something new here all the time. If you want to post pictures of the other birds, just put them in the other birds room, we would love to see them also. And especially Angel if she is a rose breasted cockatoo, thats usually what people refer to as a rosie, that would be my next choice for a bird.
  15. You just gave conflicting comments, he hasn't eaten anything, yet he did eat most of what you hand fed him. How is he acting otherwise, if that is normal then I would not worry too much about it. But if he is acting different then a visit may be in order, and if he is sick then the vet could give him some meds to take care of it. I would go with your gut instinct.
  16. Hello and welcome to the family, Lynne, and a fine hello to all your wonderful members of your flock. I want to know more about those 7 FIDs of yours, what they are, names, ages and stuff, I hope one of them is a grey, not a requirement but we are partial to them of course. Thanks for mentioning Mario as the one who referred you here, we like hearing such comments from other members and I will be sure to give him some karma for his kind words. I'm sure you don't need any advice but we have many threads here on various topics that if you would like to read at your leisure for lots of useful information, but I can imagine you could tell us more. Please feel free to tell us any stories you would like to share with us of living with 7 birds, that has to be good for at least a few good experiences. If you have pictures you would like to share with us we would love to see your flock of loved ones and we even have a thread where you can post a photo of yourself if you would like to.
  17. Very nice pictures, Mpr86, thats a lovely girl you got there, I just love the dark eyes of the young ones. Thanks for posting them for us to admire her. Josey does not like me wiping here beak but I do it anyway, LOL.....
  18. Your opinion sounds like mine, Reta, I would wait until he settles in more, some greys are more forgiving than others and some hold grudges.
  19. He seems to have chosen your father for his favorite and there is not much you can do about that. I would not have him ignore him but cut back on the amount of time he spends with him and you and the rest of your family do all of the tending to him, feeding, cleaning the cage and such. He may never change his favorite but he will come to love you all maybe not in the same way. He may have a different relationship with each and every one of you, thats just the way they are.
  20. Will he allow you to lift up the feathers on his neck and back so you can get to the skin better, that is what I would suggest. As for moving faster than your grey, only you can answer that, but they can move about very quickly can't they.
  21. Thanks Reta for the information on positive training techniques, I am interested in more and I think a lot of the others will be too, so please post the links so we can learn more.
  22. Most any bird if they eat foods that cling to the beak like say sweet potatoes for one, will fling that off and greys are no exception, and it can go far and wide. Josey is not too messy an eater when she is in her cage but when I take her in to eat off my plate at the evening meal, she can get very messy and fling food stuck to the beak.
  23. I also believe they should bathe even though some of them would prefer not to, that is just their individual preference, they do get dirty from the foods they eat and to help with the dust they create. And if they do enjoy a shower then count yourself lucky.
  24. I am definitely making a visit to the Birdman when I visit Hawaii the next time. Thanks so much for sharing this pic with us, you two make a lovely couple.
  25. Keep us updated Mpr86 on the progress and some more recent photos would be appreciated.
