  1. Laurie those would be better, but those canned soups still have a lot of sodium in them even the low sodium ones, just read the label for the difference. I would just offer them occasionally to be on the safe side.
  2. I know they cannot handle dairy but a lot of the members do give a little cheddar cheese occasionally to their greys, it may be more tolerated for some reason, I don't know why.
  3. briansmum wrote: Beccy, this may just be the case, now that you mention it.
  4. Joe lives in Florida so it is still warm there, and you are right it is colder here in Virginia.
  5. Well it's 9:10 pm and just got back from my daughters, had a wonderful dinner, I ate my fill, but was not stuffed and was satisfied and enjoyed a slice of pumpkin pie later while watching a movie. Getting very windy here and getting colder.
  6. Thanks Hitchhikerz for sharing a "couple" of pictures of Mozart with us, I can see the mutual attraction and he is a very handsome fellow.
  7. If the vet gave him a clean bill of health then I would not worry about it, I think you are noticing something that probably all greys do at one time or another.
  8. Well it is 2:11 pm here in Virginia and my rolls and corn pudding are in the oven, as soon as they come out I am heading out the door for my daughter's house where the rest of the family is already arrived. I am going to stuff myself today and worry about it tomorrow.
  9. Thanks Marg for updating us on your situation and I commend you for what you are doing, you have a big heart. And I am so glad that Giz is settling in nicely and that he has a home for the rest of his life. I look forward to seeing pictures of Giz and Pee Wee too if you would like, we love photos here as you can tell.
  10. I love the photos of Cosmo, Jimmy, thanks so much for sharing them with us, he is a beauty. Yes Toni that is a little red factor there in Cosmo. BTW, I love the poop cloth you use, LOL
  11. Josey does this also and now that I think of it, she does not do it much when she is in her cage, it is mostly when she is out. Maybe others will chime in with their observations and we will see whether this is a common occurance among greys.
  12. Great progress, Tari, I am proud of you and I know it is a harder struggle for you than me because of the meds you are on. But we can do this can't we, I know I can and I will be pulling for you too, keep walking and drinking the water.
  13. Helen, since you are working with a 7 year old bird it will take lots of time to gain his trust and bond with him. Don't try to rush it and when he does bite tell him no and turn your back on him, they don't like that. He is asserting his dominance over you and he will have to learn that you are boss and not him, but gently. He will have a different relationship with each one of you in your family as you are finding out. I don't have any experience using a clicker, but lots of members do use them with great results, he will get used to the sound of the clicker. Please keep us updated on how he progresses with the clicker training, I am interested to know.
  14. Jimmy, it is just a simple matter of finding out what he likes to eat most and using that as a training treat. Josey loves cheese as most of them do, and shelled unsalted peanuts, so whatever he goes nuts over is what you use for treats.
  15. I know how you are feeling and it is a wonderful experience isn't it to know that your baby is beginning to talk. Better be careful from now on what you say or you will be hearing it over and over again. LOL I am so happy for you and now you may find that Edgar won't shut up, LOL, but the adventure has just only begun.
  16. Yes he was a special bird, he is gone but not forgotten, God bless his little soul.
  17. I don't have any family members overseas in the military but I wish all the members of all the armed forces a safe and happy holiday. I wish they could be with their families but they are doing what they have to do to keep this country free and a safe place to live. I pray for their safe return to their family for without them we would not enjoy the freedoms we take for granted. God bless America........
  18. You do what you think is best and we will look forward to hearing an update tomorrow and I hope all goes well. I will be thinking of you and Sammy and hope I hear good news.
  19. Don't cry Ronda, I can fix that. {Communicate-0002011B}
  20. Don't be embarrased about a typo, we all do that from time to time, but what concerns me is Sammy and if he has a problem with his beak it needs to be looked at as soon as possible. Keep us updated on this, we care. You have a good Thanksgiving too and hope to hear better news tomorrow.
  21. Thanks for the information, Jamie, I give red palm oil to Josey every day in her morning breakfast.
  22. Thats what we like to hear Reta, only positive karma should be given, if you disagree with someone's post then send them a pm and explain why you do not agree with them, but negative karma only brings people down.

    Pete

Congrats on getting Pete and glad he is doing great. Thats wonderful that he is being social to frequent visitors and your wife has taken a liking to him, so long as she does not ignore the rabbits. LOL I'm sure you will have questions and when you do just post them and we will try and answer as best we can. In the meantime enjoy your new member of the household and get us a picture of Pete if you can, we would love to see him.
  24. Men, what are we gonna do with them. Kristin, Bird Talk is a wonderful magazine that is all about birds, has articles, pictures, and upcoming events around the US like bird shows and conventions. I would highly recommend any bird lover to subscribe to it.
  25. Then a vet visit is a must for this is something you cannot handle yourself, I would have him looked at ASAP before you lose him.
