Thats a very good way to look at it, and I know he is loved to pieces, you have a good heart.

I am sorry if it seems that we are badgering you about taking Sammy to the vet, we only have his best interests at heart. Thanks for further explaining his troubles and I realize now that you have done pretty much all you can do for him. I do hope that the holistic vet can help Sammy to live a more comfortable life so you can enjoy many more years of his love and companionship. You have certainly gone above and beyond to help your little loved one and I hope you can forgive us for thinking you were not doing all you could for Sammy. I hope the visit goes well.

You are right to get Freddie out first, he was the first in your house and No 1 bird, you have to follow the pecking order.
-
Heather, thanks for sharing the first photos from your new camera, they are some good ones, you have a beautiful grey that makes a wonderful subject.

Hello and welcome to the family, Lyndaelyzoo, glad to have you join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey. Your grey is 8 years old, have you had him since he was a baby and what is his name? I am just curious and it helps to get to know you better. We have many threads here on various topics that hold a wealth of information, but you probably already know most of it since you have a mature grey. But if you do have specific questions you would like to ask, we will do our best to answer and help you in any way we can. As already stated, we have lots of members who have dogs, cats, and numerous other pets that do co-exist in the same house, it is just a matter of proper supervision when your grey is out of the cage to ensure that nothing happens to your grey or the other pet. I see from the picture you included in your first post that you do have a wonderful looking bird that adores you I'm sure.

Thanks for the update Sandra, glad to hear it is going well in your household and Merlin will be stepping up for you soon. You are doing a wonderful job with him and time a patience will pay off in handsome rewards. He may have chosen Big Daddy as his favorite, but he will have a slightly different relationship with each member of the household. Keep up the good work and keep us informed as to your progress with him.

Dan is right, a week is nothing in the process of trying to build trust and to bond with Sandy, it takes time and lots of patience, talk to her and let her get more comfortable in her new home.
-
Most men seem to be impatient, but it takes time to build trust and form that bond, so take it easy and don't push and he will come around.
-
Thats great that the two are getting along good and thanks for updating us.

I agree Hannibal, better safe than sorry, and he said he has a problem with his upper jaw, that in itself requires a vet visit. I would like to hear from Sammy again as to how he is doing.

Everyone here on this forum knows I like a good joke the same as a lot of the others, but this was a poor attempt at being funny, Adele, and not in very good taste. You don't joke about physical abuse like you described in your post, and what if an unsuspecting member who is new at having a grey were to read what you posted and try that with their bird, it could cause the death of that bird. Now how would that make you feel to know that your careless notion of a joke were to cause harm to another's grey, it would make me sick to my stomach. And that is exactly what you have made us feel, sick to our stomach of the kind of trash you call a joke. I am glad you have chosen to leave of your own accord, it spares us the hassle of having you banned, for if this is the kind of advice you have to offer we are better off without it.

Hubba, hubba, hubba {Emotions-00020120}

Josey does not get into music either, and the radio station I leave the radio on for them has been playing Christmas music all week. I guess like everything else some of them have rhythm and some of them don't.
-
Well of course not Tracy, they can't be adorable 24/7. But Ty sure is adorable isn't he and I am glad he gets along with Star. Thanks for sharing these pictures with us and I especially love the one of the two of them sleeping, thats so cute. {Love-000200BF}

Thats ok, Jimmy, we all have been there and done that. The main thing is he is fine and you are a new grey owner and are concerned about your baby so you are a little over protective. Don't worry about it, better to be safe than sorry.

Adele, just so you know, I was the one who took your 2 karma away, that was a horrendous post about the way you treat Manzi and if you had more I would have took more, I am mad as hell.:evil:
-
Adele, let me get this straight, you encourage swatting your bird out of the air when flying toward people and you even broke one of his wings doing that, I can't believe this crap from someone like you. I remember you from another forum and I have never heard this kind of treatment before from a bird owner. How can you in good conscience do such a thing to Manzi, and your vet recommends this treatment too, if I knew his/her name and where they are located I would turn him in myself. No bird deserves this kind of treatment, any knowledgeable bird owner would never do such a thing. Adele, I am ashamed of you for the way you treat Manzi, how can you live with yourself when you regularly give her black eyes for being smacked for bad behavior. If I were your grey I would bite the living shit out of you for treating me this way. In my opinion you should not even own a bird much less a grey, I think you should read up more on positive reinforcement for a way to discipline Manzi, or give her up to someone who can give her the treatment she deserves. You get no sympathy from me nor anyone else here on this forum for such god-awful ways you treat an awesome creature as the grey.
-
Yeah I don't like to be bothered if I am sleeping so just keep an eye on him and see how he is in the morning and if he is eating and acting normal, then forget about it.

Hello and welcome to the family, Cowgrls, glad you could join us and congrats on your new grey. We look forward to hearing more about you and Sandy. You said you got Sandy about a week ago, is she a baby grey or an older one? Please read thru the many threads here on various topics for lots of useful information and ask us any specific questions you may have. We will do our best to get you an answer and help you in any way we can. Is Sandy the first parrot you have owned? I am sure you are finding out that greys are awesome creatures and a lifetime committment. Do you have any other pets in your household? Excuse me for asking some questions, but it helps to get to know you better. If you have a picture of Sandy that you would like to share with us, we would love to see her, we love photos here as I am sure you can tell.

I got them covered, thanks Mario.
-
How could I forget them, Mario, they are on my Christmas list for goodness sakes.:woohoo: :woohoo:

This is what happens when you use two different scales, the readings will not be the same for they may not be calibrated correctly. You need to get your own scales that you can weigh her every day for a while to get an average weight, then you can just do it weekly to keep a check on it.
-
I'll also see what I can come up with, good thinking Beccy.
-
Josey gets sprayed as she won't bathe except for trying to in her water bowl.

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving and didn't stuff themselves too much:S
