  1. Poor Koko thought it was a predator and was going to get him which brings up the fact that you should be watching very closely for any such things as one day it could very well be a hawk or another predator that could swoop out of the sky and grab Koko before you could bat an eye. Even if you have him on a harness and leash the attack could maim him so much that he would not survive or kill him outright, please be careful if those types of birds are in your area.
  2. Hello Chrissy and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your flock. My you do have quite a few fids and they keep you busy I am sure but provide lots of fun and companionship. I love your signature and some of the names are very cute and unique and I bet there are some stories behind some of those names too, you will have to share some with us sometime. Browse thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions if you have any and we will help you in any way we can. Pictures, we love pictures here so if you have some you would share with us we would appreciate it very much. We have an other birds room where you can put the other fids besides the grey.
  3. I just have to say I love your avatar, that is so cute!
  4. Yippppppppppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Now if you can just whip me into shape I would be most grateful! B) Congrats Penny on a job well done, you go girl!!!
  5. This is a highly unusual situation with his chronic sinus problem and having to drill a hole in his head to clear the sinuses is an ordeal I wouldn't want to deal with but I am surprised that all the blood tests and such came back negative. Please keep us informed of any further developments.
  6. Those babies in these pics are adorable, thats for sure Carol, I love the one where Ahmani is sleeping on her side, that Meg has a wonderful job, she gets to help socialize the babies, thanks for sharing them with us Carol, now when are they coming to you?
  7. NuNu, go out and buy an untreated board, what we call a 2 x 4 and cut it up into sections, drill holes in the middle or anywhere on it and hang them up with chain or a good piece of rope, you can color them with vegetable dye if you like but it is not necessary, that will provide many hours of chewing. But you will still have to keep her away from the furniture but at least if she has something else to chew that may be enough to keep her satisfied.
  8. Suzy you can look for breeders by state at this site www.avianbiotech.com and some have found good breeders at www.birdbreeders.com also. I too would steer clear of any that offer to sell you an unweaned bird, to us here on this forum that is a definite No No, they are more concerned with the money and not the bird's best interest. A good breeder will not put a set time limit on when the baby is weaned as it sometimes varies, some wean in a shorter period of time and some take longer but that baby should be eating on its own with no additional formula feedings. Good luck to you in your search and you are doing the right thing to question these breeders extensively.
  9. You can't count that high!!! {Emotions-000200C1}
  10. Well obviously those "people" didn't know what they were talking about, but we do here, right gals!!!
  11. Hello Rbpittman and welcome to our family, you have just joined an elite group of grey lovers who care deeply about their birds. Dixie sounds like a real dream of a grey, some here on this forum would be so jealous for we all know that greys have their own individual personalities and some are sweeter than others, you have a real sweetheart. I would say that Dixie really loves to have her head scratched, that is a favorite for greys and that is her way of asking for more, boy she has you pulled in hook, line and sinker. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Pictures, we love pictures here so if you have some besides the one in your avatar please share them with us.
  12. Oh yes that is the sound of some hormones starting up even though he isn't old enough to be mature and since you said he regurtated for you thats about right. He doesn't necessarily want to breed, he is just starting to feel frisky. Is he holding his wings down lower and slightly spread? Thats another indicator. I would avoid touching him under the wings, on the back and around the tail area especially around the vent as they are the erogenous zones until this behavior stops. You don't want to encourage this as it will only stress him out further. Laurissa, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome & introduction room and tell us more about you and this grey.
  13. In my humble opinion there is no difference in the talking ability of males versus female greys, I believe they are both capable of being good talkers. Now of course I have a female and have never had a male but I would be surprised if there is any evidence to support such a claim.
  14. I am so relieved to hear the prognosis is good for "Bonnie", great name btw, and congrats on having a girl and not a boy. She already had it when she came to you so that is good news and I hope the other two birds don't get sick but you are doing what is necessary to keep that from happening so good luck and keep us informed.
  15. Thanks so much Dave for this information, this question has come up in several places and we never had a diminutive answer until now.
  16. No I haven't purchased anything from that site but it does not surprise me in the least, as the cost of postage goes up the service gets that much worse. Wonder how come they gave no tracking number this time, I would be in contact with them again and find out something before you are out the money and the items.
  17. You have got some cute little birdies and cute names, love the name Cheekz and Timid Timmy, I assume he is timid or you wouldn't have named him that, they are all adorable and thanks for sharing them with us.
  18. Thanks for letting us know and do let us in on the herbal remedy as I am very curious about this.
  19. I am very curious to know what this herbal remedy is and look forward to hearing what it is and I hope it lives up to her words. We have many here who could use some "remarkable results" B)
  20. I'm unsure myself so have shot off a pm to Dave for an answer, if anyone here knows it will be him, stay tuned for further results.
  21. Cool, you will have to keep us updated on what happens and pictures too of course, never leave out the pics.
  22. I am also fond of the first two underwater pictures, so clear and pretty. I guess Shadow is a good mouser then, he earns his keep.
  23. Hello Mikio and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this grey. Thats wonderful you could take in this grey and it sounds like she is turning out to be a great pet and companion for you. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them at your leisure and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some you would share with us we would greatly appreciate it.
  24. Thanks Nick, you have talent thats for sure, I like the random shots too, the way you have taken them makes them wonderful pictures. Is that your cat in that one pic? Thanks for sharing them with us Nick.
