  1. All lovely birds, each unique in its coloring, hard to pick a favorite but thanks Dave for posting these pictures so we can see the difference in the species.
  2. Supernova wrote:  Nearly 3 inches and the world comes to an end, try 2 feet of it and see where you get:ohmy: Oh well all this banter is making me laugh, what a hoot!
  3. I have a sun conure, that was my first parrot and it whet my appetite for a bigger bird and so I got my grey. I think it depends on what kind of bird you like for like Dave said you never know whether two birds of any species will get along, it all depends on their own individual personalities.
  4. I'm glad to hear that Rikki is ok, you would see some redness if she was burned but it might be a little sore or tender, do as Jay recommended, a cool cloth might just be the ticket right now. Thanks for letting us know and sharing this story with us, you may have saved a bird's life in the process, love ya.
  5. Thank heavens for baby monitors, it allows you to hear Red talking when otherwise he would be quiet as a mouse. Josey is not a closet talker but she won't talk much with other people besides just us in the house. Glad to hear he enjoyed his visit and he was enjoyed by your family.
  6. I don't get to spend the time I would like to on this forum, work has prevented me from getting on during the day unless I get lucky but the people here are the best, granted I haven't been on too many forums but the members here are very friendly and helpful.
  7. Glad to hear he is fine, good thing he is healthy as he is.
  8. Congrats on your new baby girl to be, I remember when I had my two kids I didn't find out what sex they were until they were born but my firstborn was a girl, over 41 years ago.
  9. What a bunch of woosies, get a couple of inches of snow and a little chilly weather and you think the world comes to a standstill. We got nearly 2 feet of snow a week before Christmas and most of it is still around, hasn't got above the freezing mark all week nor will it.
  10. Hello Jayblade and welcome to our family, its great that you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Bella. This must be your first bird since you sound very new to owning a grey. Bella is beginning to show her independence, she wants to do things on her terms and if you want to gain her trust then you are going to have to earn it. Do not grab her legs and hold her wings to get her to stay with you, she doesn't want you to and she is showing her displeasure by biting and if you don't heed her warnings it will only get worse. Open her door and allow her to come out on her own and if she doesn't want to then that is ok, she will when she is ready, don't force her to do anything she doesn't want as it will only make it worse for you. Provide several rough type perches like concrete near her food and water bowls where she has to use them, they do a pretty good job of keeping the nails from getting too long. I want you to read thru as many of the endless threads we have here for lots of useful and helpful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of Bella you would share with us we would love to see her.
  11. Marguerite is right, nothing to worry about, don't sweat the small stuff!
  12. I hope Rikki is feeling better tomorrow, poor thing but don't feel so bad, you did what you had to and probably saved her from what could have been much worse. Let us know as soon as you can how she is.
  13. I would highly suspect that she might have injured her beak and she isn't using it like she should be so my suggestion is for you to take her in to see your avian vet for an evaluation. Let us know what you find out. Then come back and introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and your grey.
  14. Did you can an avian vet, surely they would know or should know? Let us know what you find out and what happens.
  15. Oh yes, nothing unusual about that mess, Josey does manage to eat more of hers than ends up on the paper in the tray but she eats the fine, I think she wastes less of it that way.
  16. Yep that is a shower all right, love the colors in the second photo with the spread wings, thanks for sharing them with us.
  17. Neat perch, small enough to take anywhere and looks very nice, thanks for sharing it with us.
  18. Some type of acrylic toy would be ideal for hanging from that hook, she looks like she is having a good time and getting thoroughly wet in the process, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  19. Ah Charlie, the leader of the pack, he is quite full of himself here in this pic, what a cute pose, thanks for sharing it with us Caroline.
  20. Wow I am impressed, we have celebrity here on greyforums, Emma is a natural for advertisement and your sweet voice is hard to resist Adina, thanks for sharing your good news with us.
  21. Not to be outdone by Charlie and Jasper yes he is very handsome, you have 3 very good looking greys, thanks for sharing the pic with us.
  22. I love all of them Caroline, thanks for sharing two of your best buddies with us.
  23. You could have shared them with us before in the other birds room but since we have an amazon room I can't wait to see Owen.
  24. Finally it worked, great video of Cocoa getting head scratches but she wanted to taste that thingy too, thanks for sharing that with us.
  25. Josey has a similar cage except hers doesn't have the divider so she has the entire cage, I love it.
