  1. Hello Lori and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Solei, what an unusual but lovely name. Some greys have to be shown how to play with their toys, take one and play with it yourself in front of her and act like you are having the time of your life as that will usually entice their interest, be sure to include a heavy bell as one of her toys inside the cage as most all of them love to bang away and fight with a bell. Please do read thru as many of the threads as possible for lots of useful information especially the homemade toys room and be sure to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Yes we love pictures here so if you have some of Solei you would share with us that would be great.
  2. Cosmo sure gave you a scare but you handled it very well, glad to hear all is fine, thanks for sharing that story with us.
  3. I look forward to seeing some pictures of Marble but I have to laugh at the name of your twitter feed, OrneryMarble!
  4. Just like us sometimes we don't want anyone messing with us so he may from time to time want to be left alone so respect his wishes and when he does want interaction you will know from his reaction whether to pet him or not, just don't force yourself on him.
  5. He probably found that singing very soothing on the long ride to your home and he remembers that now when you sing to him, he thinks you are the best so tell hubby he just doesn't know his stuff.
  6. Well then hopefully he will regrow those feathers.
  7. Issac is so handsome, his daddy loves him, thanks for sharing the pics with us, most greys including mine never look like they are going thru a molt.
  8. If you could resize the pictures a little smaller they would be easier to see but thanks for sharing them with us, he has an oven ready chest I see.
  9. Louie certainly does love to attack his toys, what a joy to watch him do that, maybe one day he will allow you to handle him Janet, thanks for sharing that with us.
  10. Dave has a good idea of putting his treat in his cage and when he goes in close him up and Marguerite has another one in putting him in sometimes not just when you need to so he doesn't always associate going in with you leaving the house, also just putting a treat in his cage and not closing the door sometimes so he knows he doesn't always get closed up inside just because a treat has been put in his cage, just be sure he sees you put it in his bowl. I don't have a problem with Josey going into her cage as she plays on her cage most of the time she is out and goes back inside and plays at times, she usually is ready to go to bed by that time at night and is already inside her cage waiting for me to close her up and cover the cage, she is such a good girl.
  11. Yes regurgitation is a sign of love or acceptance but the dancing around with the wings out and lowered is more sexual arousal and you don't want to encourage that for it will only frustrate him and then he will bite, just tell him thank you but no thanks and walk away. You also don't want to be petting him down the back, under the wings or anywhere around the tail area as those are the erogenous zones, petting on the head or neck is ok.
  12. Thanks Tanya for updating us on Jackson, he still is hanging on that last feeding of the day but in time he will give it up too so be patient with him. About his screaming, when does he do this? He could just be calling to you if he doesn't see you and if that is the case just answer him and tell him you are nearby so he doesn't feel abandoned. I bet he is very playful and full of himself, he is a mommy's boy for sure.

    Picky Eater

Stephen hit upon one thing that makes a difference for some greys, some like their veggies hot or cooked so offer them in different ways to find one way they might eat them, try them raw, cooked, mashed, sliced, hot or cold to see if they will eat them but keep offering them for sometimes they just start eating the veggies but it is good that Kookie is eating his pellets well.
  14. Read thru these two threads on bathing and see if you can find something in them to help you with your problem of bathing Rocky. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?189753-Bathing-possible-method-1 http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?189752-Bathing-possible-method-2
  15. Way to go Christina, he just needed some time to settle in his new home and he is beginning to trust you now so keep up the good work, he was testing you before to see how you would react. Would love to see some pictures of him when you can manage it.
  16. Yes and fortunately or unfortunately, depends on how you look at it, they never grow up!
  17. I guess in Brutus's eyes you are the best, what a happy story to tell, thanks for sharing.
  18. Today January 7 is Beau's hatchday, he is 2 years old today and he belongs to Joolesgreyuk, her name is Julie but she no longer posts here as she is too busy now that she works full time. I am posting this on her behalf because some members do remember her. She is the lady I went to visit last year, she lives in the UK, since we had become fast friends and I can tell you she is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet, I stayed with her and her family and she took me all around her area to see the sights. She plans on coming to visit me this year if it all works out but I do wish she would come and visit this site but no luck so far. I know for a fact that Beau is being royally spoiled today so here is wishing he has so many more to enjoy.
  19. One...two...four, what happened to three, he either said that combination or one...three....four, Georgie is a hoot, thanks for sharing that with us.
  20. My grey Josey is easily spooked also and I am careful of allowing her to be too high up on anything so there is less distance to the floor but she stays in the family room most all the time and there is carpet on the floor so she has never landed hard enough to split her keel. I agree, I would be very hesitant to medicate a grey. I would try what your vet recommends to see if there is any improvement.
  21. Barbara that is the ideal way to handle that situation, your fids can stay in their own home in their cages with someone around to take care of their needs and be there if something happens, you are lucky to have someone to do that.
  22. Thanks Kelly, thats perfect and now we can see him better.
  23. Georgie is one handsome fella from the picture you shared, yes it is too big, could you resize it for us maybe.
  24. Chris you have your answer and it looks like Lucy will be going thru the surgery, I agree with you on going with your avain vet's advice as he is the one who spent years learning all about animals and he is the one I would trust. I hope it is completely successful and she comes thru with flying colors, let us know when it is going to happen and keep us updated on her progress. Have faith she is going to be just fine.
  25. Rick are you sure he is not going thru a molt as I feel like that is really what is happening, you might think he is pulling feathers out when preening but he may just be removing loose ones that are going to fall out anyways. Can you post a picture or two of what you are talking about so we can get a better idea of what you are talking about.
