Why take it down for the summer, don't you have some shade that would help or you could continue to use it early morning or late in the evening, I am sure they enjoy bathing especially Chili Pepper. Thanks for sharing him with us.
I hope we don't have as hot a summer as we did last year but it doesn't look good so far.
He looks like he is enjoying the outdoors and the sunshine, I really love this area you have for your fids so they may enjoy the fresh air and you don't have to worry about having them on a harness or in a small cage, thanks for sharing them with us.
Hello Vlmuke and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us.
Why don't you tell us more about yourself and this grey you have, her name, how long you have had her, is she your only parrot, is she your first grey and so forth so we can get to know you both better.
Of course pictures are always welcomed.
I think it does matter if they get along well together especially if they share a cage, taking one would make it hard on him/her for not only would they have to learn to get used to a new family but also the fact of being by oneself again. I would find out more about this pair and think about it long and hard before you commit to one or both and keep us informed.
Sarah it does not matter what sex you are, my grey is a female and she has displayed sexual behavior towards me, it is usually towards their chosen one but sometimes it is directed toward another member of the family. The only true way to know the sex is to have the dna test done.
Josey is going on 6 years old so she is just about full maturity.
They can have those fruits, peaches, pears, cherries, plums and so forth but not the pit but it also says no dried beans and asparagus, the beans are fine as long as they are cooked and what is wrong with asparagus, never seen that one on a forbidden list before.
I must say that Charley is one adorable little grey, so precious.
I'm not sure when you would move him into a regular cage but I would think it would have to be after he gets his feathers.
Congrats Jocelyn on deciding a grey would be a good fit for your home and I do like this breeder as most would not go the extra length to make sure their babies go to good homes, I am sure you will pass the test and your new grey will fit right in with the menagerie you have, do keep us informed.
A lot of us have more than one bird and they may not get along with each other but they tolerate one another when they are out and that includes mine. I have a grey, a sun conure and a cockatiel and they are all out at the same time but as long as there is at least a little space between them they are fine. Who knows Ringo might enjoy having another parrot around, he may not get along with the new one but they can learn to share the same home.
I do know of several people who have an outside aviary that their birds spend time together in one enclosure for short periods of time but they are supervised as you just never know what could happen but different species of birds and a lot of the same species must have a cage of their own for they usually won't get along with one another and that is especially true for greys. We also have some members here who have bird rooms where they are all out together but still they each have their own cage and are supervised when they are all out together.
That is so sad but unfortunately it does happen and you are right as long as people buy from them they will continue to catch and abuse them, I would spend as much time as I could and go down there and talk to the people who are potential buyers and inform them exactly where these birds come from and how they are treated then direct them to breeders you have found.
Hello Louise and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us.
You are right as you can never learn too much and who better to learn from than other like grey owners, firsthand experience is the best.
Tequila and you make a nice picture and if you have any other pictures you would share with us we would love to see them.
You have three people who have provided you with some options to see about getting a grey baby, I thank you nice people for coming thru with some help for BeeFernandez.
This is all normal behavior in young greys, he is vocalizing at certain times of the day and I definitely heard a wolf whistle so get ready for some real imitations and possibly words in the near future, thanks for sharing the video with us.
This is electric run so if your electricity would go off what would power it? Maybe your electric power is more reliable than ours but it does go off sometimes for various reasons.
I never meant you might electrocute in any way.
What if the electricity went off for an extended period of time, heck even if for a short time it could prove deadly for your bird, please rethink this.
I have to echo the other's sentiments about the plexiglass cage, birds need ventilation and closing one up in this fashion is sure to cause some trouble, make your bird sick and die. Why not promise to vacuum the floor every day where the cage is and keep the area spotless so she will allow your bird to be with the family where they spend the most time.
