I used a spoon that was bend to fit into the baby grey's mouth. You also need some very fine baby formula. Make sure that the food is the right temprature for the baby grey.

What's a typical day like for you and your bird?
splint101 replied to MickeyandMe's topic in The GREY Lounge
What's a typical day like at your house? Get up at 6am go to work for 8 hours and back home in the traffic. Get home at about 5pm. How often is your bird out of their cage? Every morning before we go to work for about 30min. And when we get back from work the whole of the eve he can do what he wants till bed time. How often are they put on a playstand? His playstand is next to his cage so he hops on it and play and back onto the cage as he wants. How much time do you spend actually handling your parrot? About 15min in moring and a hour or more in the eve. What's your cleaning routine like? Every moring a replace the paper and clean all his bowls. And once a week I wipe the cage down and clean the grid at the bottom of the cage. What time do you cover/uncover their cage? When we go to bed at about 10-12pm. How often do you feed them? In the morning he gets mashed up veggies and in the eve and during the day he has his treats and fruit and seeds and pellets. Do you take them outside, in the car, on vacation etc? He did go in the car with me for two weeks when we got him because he was on spoon feed three times a day. But now I have to get him use to the aviator harness. -
No problem that is what we are here for, the other members might have some different advice.

Hi there and welcome, Max is about the same age he is 3 months & 22 days. He started to refuse his baby formula about a week ago, but before that I slowly introduced him to all different food etc. What I do now is a cook up some Carrots, Sweet Potato & Gem Squash Pumpkin, then a mash all of these together and mix it with a more coarse baby formula. This I mix every morning and evening and he eats all of this up everyday. During the day there are some seeds and pellets available for him and 1 or 2 treats and some fresh water. So to answer your Question I think keep on feeding her the baby formula it is of no harm to her but starving her would be. Just as long as she is eating then she would be fine. But try to put out a few veggies everyday for her she will eat them soon, it takes time and what you could do is try and eat some infront of her that she sees that you are eating it and let somebody praise you for eating it. Then if she eats it praise her too for eating, it works for me when I try to introduce something to Max. Good luck keep us up to date with her progress.

Post edited by: splint101, at: 2007/06/05 10:17

Yea it is quite amazing to talk to somebody so far and was nice chating to you. The info that you gave me about the camera's are more than enough but lik you said there are so much detail and info into buying camera's that sometimes a person will just give up because he does not understand most of the spec's and functions. But with somebody like you around it makes my life so much more easier buying a camera. :cheer: -
yeah I am with Judy on this on this is the way I tested my formula for Max.
-
I give Max a formula mix with some pumpkin & sweet patato & carrots that is mashed up in the morning and eve and during the day he has fruit and pellets and seeds availiable.

@ Ceasarsdad, what do you think of the Canon EOS 400D. You can Google it and give me some feedback what you think about the specs etc. The Nikon’s price is out of my range for what I want to use it for. I think they are over priced here in South Africa too. -
Jeeze Karla you got a heavy one there but he will loose some baby fat as soon as you take him of the baby formula food. Max was about 470g-480g but he is stable now on 450g-460g. I will check him tomorrow morning again after his {Emotions-00020075}

Hey peeps, I just got my aviator harness all the way from UK to South Africa. It was quite quick just over a week to get here. Now I will go watch the dvd and then start to introduce him to his new toy. But I see that you have to teach them that you could touch them under their wings, I wont have a problem in that department because I tickle him a lot under his wings etc. I really hope that he will use it. @ Karla if Max does not use his you could buy it from me if you haven’t bought one yet. LOL just kidding will see what he does with it. And the cost to buy the Aviator and shipping to SA was R449.07. Wish me good luck peeps.

The reason for this is the baby food contained more water than he is getting now out of the solids. Max's poop is also less and less runny....{Feel-good-00020069}

{Characters-0002005F}Jeeeeeze, but is it after feed or b4? i weigh max every morning.... after he took a {Emotions-00020075} poooooop
