  1. @ Bailey's papa, they do seem to require a lot of attention but I am retired and am home most all the time so he has me here with him almost 24/7. I do go out to do errands, or go to appointments or to work with my horses and I am teaching him to play by himself in his cage. He is very well adjusted and while I do other things he just plays with his toys or plays or eats on his play gym.
  2. He already seems to prefer me but he will let Carl pick him up and skritch his feathers. I think Carl needs to feed him and interact with him and take him to his playstand a little more. So far, so good though. I have usually been the one to handfeed him, though.
  3. As you know we got a baby timneh a few days ago. Both me and my husband just love him. He is so sweet! Any way we can keep it so we can both handle him? We both love him and some things I have read say greys choose one person or is that more the congos? Breezy is such a tame, sweet, easygoing guy with both of us. It would be great if we could both interact with him once he grows up. So any possible way to keep him handleable by us both?
  4. My husband named her that because we thought she was a boy when she was a baby and she is huge. Then she ended up laying an egg so she is a girl but she knows and says her name so we couldnt change it. But no, the name doesnt fit her because she is really a sweet bird. She will go to anyone and is very friendly and loves people.
  5. Well, Breezy's culture looks good. No gram negative activity. My vet will let it go till tomorrow to be absolutely sure but so far it looks really good and he is in great health. He is a very confident baby and went right onto the vets hand when I handed him to her. He is really friendly! Might not last but I am going to try to socialize him to people so he keeps that confidence.
  6. Just wanted to post a picture of me and my blue and Gold cuddling. She is the biggest sweetheart.
  7. Just gave him a paper towel roll. He is having lots of fun shredding it. Had him out for some one on one time and training him not to explore with his beak too hard on my fingers. Blowing breath at him to get his attention and he stops. He never bites down hard. Already took the harder bites the first night he came home when we were getting friendly with each other. Not nearly as bad as a bite from my macaw so no big deal. The timnehs have cute tiny little beaks.
  8. I just spoon fed Breezy some warm oatmeal mixed with apple sauce. Still acting like he would like to be fed but he should be weaning soon so decided to try the warm cereal. He was very satistfied with it and ate quite a bit. Then he jumped off his playgym and came on out to look for me so I cuddled him for a few minutes then put him in his cage as I need to clean up the kitchen next. He is eating pellets right now. A mix of Harrison's and pretty bird. He seems to like them both so just might continue to feed both of them. Going to see if he like romaine lettuce, peppers and shredded carrots later. He prefers fruit but he does need to start eating veggies and greens, too.
  9. I just got a baby timneh grey who I named Breezy. I also have a blue and gold macaw named Brutus who I have had for 18 years. Breezy is my first handfed timneh grey. I did have an imported timneh grey maybe 30 years ago. Me and my birds and husband all live up in central vermont. Hoping to learn a lot about greys here. Have done tons of research already on them but it can never hurt to learn more.
  10. Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Joann and I just got a baby timneh grey named Breezy who is three months old. I absolutely love him! I also have a blue and gold macaw named Brutus who is a sweetheart. I have had her for eighteen years. Previously, I had an orange wing amazon but he just passed away. His estimated age by my vet was fifty years. I have had parrots about 30 years so I know a little bit Breezy is my second Timneh grey. I had an imported timneh grey back maybe 25 years ago but Breezy is my first hand fed timneh.
